Exceptional service from Erica and the rest of the staff for us newbies. They have an immense and diverse menu from flatbreads, soups, sandwiches, etc. From healthy to hearty and everywhere in between, you can eat to your hearts desire. My friend chose the Original Sandwich on sourdough and added a Cinnabon for desert. I elected for the Pick 2: Turkey and Guacamole wrap with the broccoli cheddar soup. Outstanding choice I might add. We were such good customers they gave us a bottle of hot sauce on the house. The next time we road trip from Vegas out this way I'll be sure to stop by again.

A very flavorful Tuscan Ciabatta sandwich.

On my most recent cross country excursion, I stopped in Amarillo for an evening and ended up eating here since it was just across the street from my hotel. I wasn't 100% confident in my decision to eat there, but I didn't have a whole lot of other options that were within walking distance (I was driving a 26' UHaul, so finding convenient parking elsewhere would have been kind of an issue). It turned out to be pretty good, although not quite what it used to be based on some historical information that I acquired following my visit. They had a relatively large variety of sandwich options and I was unsure of what to try; I asked the order attendant of her opinion and she didn't seem too sure herself. They had just introduced a brisket melt that seemed intriguing and was apparently a popular customer choice, but I decided to go with the Tuscan Ciabatta which ended up being a very well crafted array of toppings: "Hand-carved roasted turkey breast, bacon, Provolone and Swiss cheeses, chipotle pesto, cilantro, roasted red peppers, chipotle mayo, avocado, field greens and tomatoes on ciabatta" (that's taken directly from their website). The broccoli & cheese soup was also pretty tasty, so I was a satisfied customer. I chatted with my parents on the phone later that evening and they remembered Schlotzky's from back in their days of living in Texas. They said that their gimmick used to be that their buns were baked fresh, as in they didn't go in the oven until your order was placed fresh. Obviously the wait would have been a little bit longer, but it's tough to beat bread just out of the oven. As a chain that has expanded to an international level, Schlotzky's clearly isn't baking their bread on such short notice anymore - but there is a lot to choose from and it is still pretty excellent food. Glad I got the chance to give them a try.

Always great!! It's a sandwich but so much more. It's warm plus you get a pickle spear. And the tea and lemonade choices are a nice perk.

While it is counter service, the staff was attentive even when seated, they were helpful and friendly while ordering, and they even seemed to be having a good time doing their jobs well. Its decor is eclectic and the building is nothing to write home about...but... the restaurant is excellent.

I had the imposter with breaded mushrooms. Super crispy Cremini mushrooms with great crunch but the rest was kinda meh, romaine and drizzle of sauce and balsamic. At least with the pickled onions there was a little palate tease. Also tried the Al pastor with jackfruit. Opted for this version on a salad and it's a whopping serving size. Hearty serving of jackfruit with plenty of sauce and dressing. Had nice little nibs of some crunch too. Service was super, super nice. I'd call the inside dive-ish. Totally relaxed and chill ambiance. I'll be back to try more items! My one dislike was that I don't care for the balsamic drizzle on either dish... just doesn't pair well with these flavors. Side of pineapple was yummy to balance the heaviness of both dishes.

If you are looking for white tablecloths, subtle lighting, or a quiet place to whisper sweet…read morenothings, keep driving past Coyote Bluff Cafe (often locally called the "Coyote Bluu" or simply "The Bluff") in Amarillo, Texas. But if your idea of culinary heaven involves a grease-stained paper liner, an old-school Texas roadhouse vibe, and a burger that requires structural support, you have arrived at the right place. Nestled just a few blocks off Interstate 40 in a historic, diminutive former dance hall moved wholesale from neighboring Claude, Texas, Coyote Bluff is tiny. With only about 12 tables packed into its 1,000 square feet, the atmosphere is alive with a loud, friendly hum, a dirt parking lot, and a vintage bathtub floating full of ice and cold beer bottles. The place is amazing!!!! The unique steaming process is really amazing. You have to try the chili cheese fries to go with it. The menu keeps its focus tight, centering around half-pound patties of lean Texas ground beef cooked to order. While traditional options like the Hickory Burger and the Green Chili Cheese Burger are stellar, the undisputed heavyweight titleholder here is the legendary Burger from Hell. I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat. Instead, it offers a beautifully layered flavor profile. The beef patty with Tabasco and their proprietary "Coyote Hell Sauce," then smothers it in gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, and fresh, vibrant sautéed jalapeños. It arrived on a toasted onion bun, it lands a solid 7 out of 10 on the heat scale. But rather than scorching your palate, it wraps it in a vinegary, spicy, deeply savory warmth. This place also serves up classic, heavy-hitting Texas roadhouse appetizers: Each of these are amazing sides and are worth of mentioning, First the Cheese Fries with Green Chiles, which I had with my burger and my wife had with her Chicken fried steak, it is served on a massive aluminum platter, these fresh-cut fries are heavily blanketed in melted cheese and mild green chiles. They are a mandatory companion to the burgers.  Other appetizers worth of note, are the Texas Red Chili & Green Chili Stew: The thick, hearty green chili stew is packed with meat and mild green peppers, offering a wonderful warming comfort, especially during cool Panhandle days.  and any of the Fried options ranging from baskets of battered fried pickles, garlic mushrooms, and stuffed jalapeños. Because everything is cooked to order and the dining room is incredibly compact, expect a wait during lunch rushes or weekends. However, that time spent waiting in the dirt lot among locals and passing road-trippers is part of the charm. Coyote Bluff Cafe doesn't try to be anything other than a spectacular, small-town Texas burger joint, and it executes that identity flawlessly. This is a MUST Stop in Texas

Open for breakfast and lunch, Bagel Place at first glance just felt like your regular deli, but they are loaded up with tons of bagels. From your traditional bagels like Everything, Blueberry, and Cinnamon Raisin to unique ones like French Toast, Snickerdoodle, and Sun-Dried Tomato, they all looked exceptional. Inside, the atmosphere is your classic deli. You would think they're slinging Reuben bagels the way it looks inside. Their menu had plenty of sandwich options, but I was eying their current lunch special, which was made up of oven-roasted chicken, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, roasted red peppers, and ranch dressing. I got it on their everything bagel. For just over $13, it came with chips and a drink as well. It was only a short wait until our food was brought to our table. The sandwich was truly delectable. They do such a great job balancing all the different items in their sandwich, making nothing feel overdone or letting the ranch overpower the rest of it and turn the whole thing too saucy. Their bagels are really the star of the show here because they have so much flavor and are cooked perfectly. The everything bagel was seasoned exactly how you would hope, which made it an especially enjoyable sandwich. As for the staff, they were pretty on top of it and made the whole experience as seamless as possible. Bagel Place is the place. A perfect lunch. RIYL: Bagels and Places

There were a number of tables with people camped out on their computers or sitting and socializing with friends. Also a steady stream of people in and out picking up To-Go orders the whole time. With all the bustle it was a little loud at times, but we didn't have to shout to carry on conversation. Lots of locals obviously enjoying themselves. They have a wide variety of bagels and schmears as you would expect. The bagels were large and tasty. Maybe a little pricey but not expensive. The coffee was lots of fun. They have about a dozen different vacuum pots sitting at the counter filled with different coffee flavors. They give you the empty cup and then you can help yourself. Sadly, by the time we were there most of the pots were empty. Of the dozen there were only 3-4 that still had coffee in them. I tried what I could and they were all pretty good. I love the concept but the execution was lacking. Next time maybe I'll get to try some more.
