Do not let this subtle interior stop you from eating here. No frills but WOW, this is a find. I got the brunch melt sandwich w fries. Layers of flavor and the bread was a slam dunk. Fries are some of the best I've had in the US. This is my first time in downtown Amarillo. Our hotel is 35 feet away and I wandered in here as I was trying to figure out something to eat on a Saturday morning. Today, my travels took me Amarillo, TX. At first, you may think...what's in Amarillo?! A ton! Cute, small, downtown area is filled with shops and food of all sorts. Sunday's kitchen was recommended to me...and I love Cajun food! So here I am. The dining room is simple but clean. The menu has a decent variety of jerk chicken, jambal5, gumbo, catfish, etc. I tried the Jambalaya. It is really tasty! It's not spicy and has a great flavor. The meat isn't overcooked at all, which I have to be an issue in these types of restaurants. The rice is sticky and tasty as well.i must say, I like the chicken over the sausage in the Jambalaya, which is rare for me. The seasoning pops with flavor! Overall, at about $15 for food and drink, Sundays kitchen is worth a stop! Very good food, friendly staff, and good pricing, considering 2023's inflation. Check em out! read more

Hidden gem! We were staying at the Barfield and decided to grab bfast here. Best decision ever! I got the biscuits and sausage gravy, hubby got the Cajun bowl bfast and both were literally scratch made. It took a few mins to get served but was worth every minute. It was really good! I got the BYO sausage Tortellini and my fiancé got the Shrimp and grits. I loved the Cajun cream in the pasta, it was spicy but not overpowering. I wish I'd gotten the vegetables instead of sausage because it just felt like it was missing a little something. I think vegetables would have added something extra. But overall it was still delicious. I liked the lemon on the side, that was a good choice. Stopped in while on the road headed west. Definitely could've fried our sausage and definitely the chicken being that it seems to be from the freezer. This is probably one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The pasta was seasoned so just perfectly with the sausage and shrimp intertwined. It was an amazing dish and they didn't live you just 3 or 4 shrimp, they give you a nice portion of both sausage and shrimp. The service was spot on as well. I loved the banana pudding as well, but the main course was just fantastic. I will most certainly be coming back to try other items on the menu! read more

We went there for lunch and got the grits and a brisket sandwich. The brisket sandwich was great and had a perfect balance of ingredients to biscuit. The brisket was also delicious and cooked perfectly. The grits were cooked beyond what we expected. Lots of butter cheese and maybe even green chiles? Whatever it was, it was delicious. A great place for kids and adults. The atmosphere was very light and homey. The staff was very polite and the food came quick and nicely. They even said bye to us on our way out. My sister recommended this place the next time I visited Amarillo, so today my mom, brother and I went to try it. It did not disappoint! I ordered the Rasta Nachos to start out and they did not see us coming. The sauce, the meats, the shrimp, all of it was absolutely delicious! Then we ordered the Pitmaster Mac n Cheese, Atchafalaya Alfredo, and Gumbo with chicken, sausage and shrimp. Each has its own delicious flavor that was so satisfying! The spice level was perfect for me. We all enjoyed every bite and the portion sizes wer nice! Definitely worth the prices. Spent the weekend in Amarillo and decided to check this Cajun/Creole spot out for lunch earlier today. Friend and I ordered the Large Chicken/Sausage Gumbo and the Shrimp Étouffée - both exceptionally delicious! The spices in the gumbo was elite and honestly reminded me of my trip to New Orleans not too long ago. Place was popping off and all tables were full at some point while we were there. And although busy, staff was friendly and attentive. I would attach photos of the dishes we've ordered but we gobbled it down without thinking I highly recommend if you like good comfort food. 15/10 would come again! read more

Their seafood in land-locked Amarillo will knock your socks off. Great catfish... it's huge. Arrive hungry, ask for the bayou basket, and make sure to get the full bayou basket. Not sure how they fit it all into the container. A short walk if you're in downtown Amarillo and worth every step. One visit and they know your name. I think I need to take a nap now. read more

Stopped here on our drive across the country on our way to North Carolina. We have both tried grits in the past and were not impressed. However, when the super nice lady at the counter recommended the shrimp and grits as her favorite thing on the menu, it sounded like it was worth a try ... and we are so glad we took the risk. It was amazing! The spicy tomato sauce was perfection and the cheese and bacon crumbles took it to the next level. We just may be converts to grits (unless Chef Ron has now set the bar too high)!
