Saxers is a neighborhood bar that's just okay. This was our second visit; the first one was a few years ago, and it was not good. I was served a vodka martini in a tiny glass, only slightly bigger than a shot glass. The bartender also fished green olives out of a jar with his fingers. This visit was slightly better as we were greeted right away with a smile, but I noticed the bar ware hadn't changed much. My vodka martini was served in a small glass with no stem, and our bartender again used his fingers, rather than a spoon or cocktail skewer, to extract the olives. The wooden facade behind the bar could be classy and beautiful but appears to be just an afterthought with only a few types of liquor lined up on it. This place seems to be more focused on beer. I did like the open windows which had tables directly under them although my favorite piece of decor is the original Victory Cleaners sign that hangs on the wall opposite the bar. If you're a beer drinker, this is more of a place for you, as the emphasis is more on beer than specialty cocktails. read more

Went here a few days before Christmas. There was a good crowd and they only had two people working the front of the restaurant. Fortunately, they were both awesome and on top of everything. They were doing it all from serving and bartending to cleaning the tables. In addition to the great service, I had the best burger ever. read more

This is the type of place that tries for a smaller, more basic menu, and relies on quality and execution instead of creative and crazy menu items. In my opinion, they definitely deserve the "pretty good" tag. Or as my wife said about her salmon dish, "It's good. It's just not thrilling." I liked their wings. They're huge and meaty. I liked their bacon mac and cheese. I'm just not sure I really loved them. But I hear their burgers are next level good. I may need to give those a shot. Found this place on a whim nice environment attentive staff convenient off free street parking. My entree was Haddock lightly breaded with house made shoe string fries on a brioche bun. Sandwich was good and tender would definitely recommend. read more

Went here on a coivid date. To start the music was very loud, and the screaming patrons behind us made it difficult to hear each other. So we turned up our own voices. Able to sit anywhere socially distanced. We chose the table by the bar. The bartenders were very attentive. Checking on us every so often. He even apologized a few times cause he felt like he was interrupting us. When he told him we were on our 1st date he said he couldn't tell because we were always talking. We both felt very homey at Saxer's. We felt very welcomed and we plan on having another date down the line to come back. About 10 beers on draft and assortment of cans and bottles. Didn't really glance over the menu. Music was playing on the juke box all night and people were signing and dancing along. A very fun night and atmosphere. We will definitely be back. read more

Feels like the quality has declined here since our last visit. I had the pretzels again - (all good) but then ordered a veggie burger, which the menu distinctly says is house made, and instead I was brought a Beyond burger that was basically charred to a crisp. The waitress asked how it was and I was honest - it was just OK. I knew it wasn't a veggie burger which apparently is not available. The Beyond is the only one they have. They should make that clearer then on the menu. If I had just gone for apps, I'd be cool, but neither me or my husband were impressed with our burgers. read more

Best burger in Delco!!! I am not Exaggerating I have had my fair share of burgers over the years and for this area it's the best I have had. Once you look at the menu you will see the quality of meat. Top right of the menu mentions it is a dry aged pat Lafreida blend of short rib chuck and brisket it's so tender juicy and delicious. Also tried the Mac and cheese it was delicious. Being a new restaurant make sure to have a little patience the servers are friendly but you can tell they are still trying to get a routine together. Nothing major just had to ask for refills and never asked how my food was.This is definitely a bar/restaurant Springfield needed!! read more

Great new local pub with an even better location, right in downtown Springfield on the very walkable Saxer Ave. Their burgers are juicy, flavorful, and downright awesome (seriously you MUST try them)...and the rotating beer-on-tap list has a solid variety of craft and local brews. Several good bourbon-based cocktails on the menu too! The floor-to-ceiling front windows open up to the sidewalk during nice weather and provide a great ambiance for happy hour. We've been pleased every time with food, drinks, and service...and we'll continue to come back! read more

Great little neighborhood bar that we can't wait to frequent. We moved to Springfield recently and our colleagues and neighbors kept telling us about Saxer's, we're excited to have a cool little place near by we can call "our bar". We met the Manager Mark who was very welcoming. Our only thought is that the menu has some room for improvement, it could offer more variety and creativity while staying consistent with the vibe of the bar. Ordered takeout from Saxers tonight. I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich and loaded fries. My wife had the grilled chicken salad. The food was hot when I picked it up and tasted great when I got home. The staff are friendly and safe with respect to picking up food. read more

Slowest service. The food was very good. Good burgers and very flavorful. The fries were also very good. They were shoestring and crispy. And while, the service was friendly and the food was tasty; it took 15 minutes to get a menu/ be acknowledged , then it took over 40 minutes to receive an appetizer and about an hour to get food. This was at 4pm too! Not really prime dinner hour. Saxers appeared to cater more to the people sitting at the bar than those who were at tables. And while, that's fine, it was very frustrating. Especially because there were so many groups at tables just sitting looking around and confused because it was taking so long. I was very thirsty and Really needed a refill and sat with an empty drink glass the majority of the time which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I definitely would not return based on this experience. This place is around the corner from my house and a happy surprise since I discovered it. The burgers are delicious. If you are craving a different version of the burger then the flat breads are also really good (had the barbecue burger flat bread which was deliciously indulgent). Also had the Mac and cheese which was also a treat. Will definitely go back. read more

Really loud, hard to hear others speaking if your just there for dinner. The food is just OK. It took a long time to get menus and then about 45 mins to get food & it wasn't even dinner time yet. As I was eatting the food, I kept thinking to myself... this food would be so much better if I was drunk. Nice atmosphere, laid back and relaxing. The menu is simple which I appreciate, makes life east when choosing an item. We had the house burger and mushroom burger. Both were delicious!
