I ordered their Picadillo Rice Bowl which included rice, ground beef, veggies, served with a fried egg on top. The seasoning and flavors were delicious and the food came out fairly quickly. This is my second time at Saucy Porka. My first experience was pretty good, I had their shrimp po mi which was recommended by the worker there and the funky monkey fries. I also tried their Vietnamese coffee. This second visit, I got their chicken pho to try. The shrimp po mi had good flavours, a nice mix of crispy shrimp and fresh toppings on a soft baguette. It had good texture although it didn't completely wow me but it's solid and satisfying. The funky monkey fries were a fun addition, loaded and flavourful. Portion was good for sharing. The Vietnamese coffee wasn't as strong as I was expecting, I would not really get it from this place which is understandable since it's more for food than the drinks. Lastly, the chicken pho had a clean, light broth that was comforting without being too heavy or salty. The portion size was just right for a full meal. Service was pretty quick and there's plenty of seating inside and outside as well. Good experience and would definitely come back and try the other dishes next time I'm around the area. read more

Stopped by SP the other day with a coworker, and I'm happy to report that the food is still 100% on point. One of my current obsessions is being able to order straight from the table, truly living in the future, and I'm not going back. After ordering, our food was delivered to the table, and the staff member helping us was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive without hovering, and checked in a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed. Love that. For dessert, we decided to try the Nutella bites, and they were exactly the warm, sweet little treat we were hoping for, absolutely delicious. And of course, the sweet potato fries were great. My palate has always enjoyed fusion places like these, and my top two fav food are Asian and Latin so how could I not help myself! Atmosphere perfect with a variety of Spanish tunes and staff friendly and attentive. I got the bowl and mom in law got the Asian bowl which she did not enjoy as much as her egg rolls (picadillo and veggie). My chorizo rolls were the bomb especially with the sweet sauce on the side. Loved the flavors of my bowl and melon juice was 10/10. I had an amazing lunch at Saucy Porca that I'd describe as an Asian meets Latin fusion cuisine in midtown St. Louis. I couldn't decide on what to order so decided to order a few different things including: two Baco (Bao) bun rolls one with chicken and one with pork that were incredible, the small order of funky monkey fries that I highly recommend, and the Ropa Vieja beef bowl with kimchi and scallions that was also very delicious. The funky monkey fries were my favorite of the three dishes with fries that had an amazing taste and texture and the toppings were a garlicky aioli along with ground beef and melted Mexican white cheese and it was bonkers.. We went in at 1 o'clock on a weekend, plenty of street parking and there was one or two groups seated and a couple takeout; maybe it's more crowded during school hours?. Service was attentive, cashier made popular recommendations and owner was friendly. You can order at the front or QR code at the table and food arrived soon after. Vietnamese Asian Latin fusion... this is a good mix if you like saucier banh mi, saltier flavor and on the medium spicy side. I thought it's really interesting that kimchi was used instead of typical pickled carrot and daikon on the banh mi; definitely made it more saucy but unfortunately the meat flavors was hidden a bit. What a great little location across from the SLU campus. The ambience was clean, hip and colorful, overfull the decor was quite fun. I especially enjoyed the smaller plates and the decent prices. That's something you have nailed is having limited menu, priced just right and delivering on the quality of the items. Saucy Porka is a Latin Asian fusion. I tried the tostones with both sauces one with curry and mojo (green). The tostones were flavorful but that curry sauce to dip them and the mojo paired very well! The egg rolls were delicious and likely my favorite bite of the day! I found the monkey fries to be a fun addition. I had several of the bao buns which is what brought me in the first place. *I would actually give this a 3.5 stars* The inside is pretty spacious and can fit small or large groups. We were immediately greeted and seated by very friendly staff. We ordered the Funky Monkey Fries, Picadillo Rice Bowl (added kimchi), Puerto Rican Rice Bowl, and a Tofu Baco (sub kimchi, soy ginger sauce). The Funky Monkey Fries were a 9/10. The crinkle cut fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheese and aioli added such a creamy and rich flavor--it was probably our favorite thing on the menu. The Picadillo Rice Bowl is what I got and if you're a fan of tomato sauce, you'll love this. The ground beef is seasoned perfectly and the cabbage went very well with it. I also recommend adding kimchi for an extra tang of flavor. The Puerto Rican Rice Bowl was a bit on the bland side so we probably wouldn't get this again. It was missing something but I'm not sure what. I think if we bought another sauce to try it with, it would've tasted a bit better. The Tofu Baco was also one of my favorites. The bao was so soft and it wasn't super doughy. The tofu was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I switched the slaw for the kimchi and I think that was a good choice. read more

From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a friendly face that helped me navigate the menu board. My friends and I got takeout from here and honestly I was not expecting it to be this good! It's an Asian/Latin American fusion restaurant, and a lot of their items are super intriguing. It's also SUPER affordable for what you get in my opinion. We tried: -Picadillo Rice Bowl: 9/10 - The beef was spicy, flavorful, and not the least bit dry. The flavors all melded into the bed of rice and potatoes as well, and the egg on top added an additional richness that complemented the dish perfectly. Highly recommend this one. -Chicken Pho: 8/10 - The broth of this pho was some of the best, most complex broths I've had in pho. My only qualm was that the noodles were more like spaghetti than rice noodles. However, the flavor of the soup was great, and pulled the dish together. -Shrimp Baco: 8/10 - I wanted to try these because I saw people raving about them. I loved the sweet, fluffy bao bun, and the shrimp was well cooked. The chipotle crema was creamy and spicy, and the corn added a great textural element. -Duck Baco: 7.5/10 - I liked this one, and the idea of using duck is really good. The crinkle-cut sweet potato fries with are topped with chihuahua cheese and are served with a sweet curry aioli sauce for dipping. They are delicious. My Ropa sandwich was light on the braised beef brisket and it was served cold. I was expecting it to be served hot. It was rich with flavors. I tried their hibiscus tea and it was delicious. I was in St. Louis for work and I was hungry! We walked here from our office, perused the menu and ordered from a very friendly woman. We got our drinks, sat and waited briefly for our food. I ordered one shrimp baco, one chicken baco and one regular shrimp taco. The bao bun made into taco form was the star of the show, soft, fluffy, warm and just oh so good. The second star of the show was the shrimp, juicy and perfectly cooked. The bacos were beyond delicious, shame on me for worrying that I wouldn't like the bacos and therefore getting a taco as a backup option. Ok so these Bacos have a sista in a choke hold. I just can't get enough, and I need to stop. But then they have this great rewards program, so it just had me sick in this loop. The shrimp Bacos fried or grilled are delicious. Duck, yummy. Beef is good. Mexican pho... not what I really need but not bad. No those funky monkey fries, though... yeah they're a delicious problem. Right along with the very tasty egg rolls. Yeah, all the egg rolls are delicious. And then they have all these amazing dipping sauces. A staple and go-to restaurant for me. The uniqueness of the Latin-Asian fusion sets Saucy Porka apart from other restaurants in St. Louis. One extra plus is it is woman-owned! The menu is simple but has a little something for everyone. Their main options include several variations of fusion-style bánh mì sandwiches, "bacos" or bao bun tacos, salads, and rice bowls. I personally love the Panang chicken bánh mì, Funky Monkey Fries, and the Guajillo Pork Baco. The mayo dressing on the chicken bánh mì is rich, elevating the freshness and simplicity of the sandwich. The monkey fries are a MUST. These are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I can never turn them down. All of the bacos are delicious, but I personally love pork so I opt for this one. The bao "taco shell" is fluffy and moist and the Guajillo filling is flavorful. I next hope to try their egg rolls and Nutella donut bites. As for service at Saucy Porka, it is consistently good. I recently got back late from a trip and was dying for some fresh cuisine. The Saucy Porka team let me order 15 minutes before closing, which I GREATLY appreciated! I had called several other restaurants before, and they did not do the same favor for my partner and me. Finally, the ambiance is bright and lively. The interior decor is centered around foliage with pops of color. It is a more intimate restaurant, with limited seating. I enjoy this intimate aspect, and there is never a long wait because the food comes out quickly. Saucy Porka truly is a favorite of mine. Saucy Porka gets a 1 star boost off the jump for being accommodating and letting us put a to go order in 10 minutes before closing. We did not want to be those people, but had just gotten into town after a long flight and wanted some fresh, quick, and light food after a week of vacation. Saucy Porka has been a familiar haunt for me for a while now. The shrimp banh mi is always so delicious. The bread is flaky and soft. The fried shrimp is flavorful. And, the vegetables are always fresh. This time, I opted for a Zen Salad with some grilled shrimp. The lime vinaigrette was phenomenal. It has an interesting spice that was subtle, but lingered. I have no idea what caused it, but I liked it. It was perfectly zesty and citrusy with a fantastic smoky finish. The greens were fantastic with a great mix of spinach, romaine, and others. The salad was also accompanied with edamame and a corn salsa that ensured a fantastic crunch with each bite. The only thing I'd change is adding cheese to it. I think some shredded cheese would really elevate this dish. I also had a shrimp baco which was incredible. The bal bum was so light and airy. It also had the creamy corn salsa which is so incredible. The review would not be complete without mention of the funky monkey fries. I did not get them this round, but they are always a solid choice. So much flavor packed into every bite. They are savory goodness. They are super messy to eat which is fun for me(I know, not everyone likes that). We enjoyed our first trip to Saucy Porka before a comedy night out this week and it was a fun spot. The whole restaurant has an. Awesome aesthetic that is very welcoming with bright colors and a warm vibe. The staff were very approachable and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu, favorites amongst their customers and if we had any allergies. I went with a Guajillo Pork Baco (I am a sucker for a bao bun) and the Puerto Rican Rice Bowl with Shrimp. Both items had a ton of flavor and their presentation worked well. Fair amount of shrimp in the rice bowl and all the flavors melded together famously. The Baco was simple yet satisfying. How convenient to have this place right next door to one of my favorite places for adult beverages (which doesn't offer a food menu). I love the fusion menu - some of my favorite flavors. I had the Puerto Rican rice bowl. It was pretty flavorful. Also had the funky monkey fries. The name scared me at first but I took a chance and wasn't disappointed. The monkey spice is flavorful. A couple of complaints: the place was freezing cold. Had to eat with my coat on. Also, the service was a bit slow considering it was empty when I got there, and the person taking the order wasn't super happy to be working that night. My daughter and I shared some of the well seasoned sweet potato fries. They were slightly sweet and came with a dipping sauce. It's a cute spot. Glad I stopped by today! From the name alone, I had no idea this was an Asian fusion restaurant, but after doing a bit of search for Asian food in the area, I had a chance to check this place out. They really go full out on fusion, but this is actually their unique feature. I had their chicken banh mi and sweet potato fries with curry sauce, and both were fantastic! The sweet potato fries came in two different sizes, and I went with the small. The small was plenty! The curry sauce was not exactly what I expected but it was even better. Kind of like an aioli sauce with a hint of curry. The banh mi was also an excellent size and was priced at $10 and came with a side of chips (or you could opt for soda). Service was quick and friendly, and I was out the door in no time for my carry out order. Small Mexican - Asian fusion restaurant across from St Louis University. My daughter and I tried on a whim. While the names of the foods are too exotic for me to remember, the food was extremely tasty. We tried an appetizer which seemed like a plantain fried with chopped onions. While good, the sauce made it for us. She enjoyed her "taco" and monkey fries. My sandwich was very good. I also got the Mexican pho for take home and found it very good as well. The Counter server was very helpful with suggestions. The interior was well maintained. Did have to circle the block a couple of times for parking but was worth it. Employees are very friendly and accommodating as well. I ordered a Puerto Rican Bowl with chicken. While I'm not a huge fan of dark meat chicken, I actually didn't mind it in this dish. There's enough other flavors involved in this bowl that I couldn't taste the dark meat too much. While there's a lot of different flavors, many of which you wouldn't expect, it totally works! I'm not good with spicy foods, and I definitely handled this dish with no spice issues. I also ordered their sweet potato fries. I love sweet potato fries, so I was super excited to try them from here! They were absolutely incredible. The melted cheese on top along with the green onions added such a nice twist.
