Melon Juice
Xhané P.

My palate has always enjoyed fusion places like these, and my top two fav food are Asian and Latin so how could I not help myself! Atmosphere perfect with a variety of Spanish tunes and staff friendly and attentive. I got the bowl and mom in law got the Asian bowl which she did not enjoy as much as her egg rolls (picadillo and veggie). My chorizo rolls were the bomb especially with the sweet sauce on the side. Loved the flavors of my bowl and melon juice was 10/10. Unfortunately hubby did not enjoy any of his meal, he got the wrong thing, and realized he can't get sweet potato fries everywhere and be satisfied every time ( :D )

I finally had the opportunity visit Saucy Porka and it was amazing! The service was great- I mentioned it was my first time and the gentleman at the register was glad to help me through the menu and offer recommendations! I went with the Mexi pho which was perfect for a chilly day. I also got the churro bites stuffed with Nutella for dessert and they were delish! This is a cute location with cool food that is affordable. Check out this locally owned spot the next time you are in the area!

This place was such a cute spot combining two of my favorite cuisines! My friend is gluten free and was able to find multiple options for her to eat. The pho was nice and warm for a cold day. The pork was nice and tender. The funky monkey fries were the hit of the lunch! The sauce and beef were both so flavor, and I will be wishing I could recreate them!

If you're ever in St. Louis or are a student at SLU, this unique restaurant gives a great twist on Latin American and Vietnamese favorites. We ordered as much as we could but will definitely be back next time we visit family to try the rest of the menu. The girls working up front were so nice and friendly, while the restaurant itself was clean and inviting.

Loved this spot! Great food, good prices, friendly staff The fries were the highlight for us, but we also loved the bacos (duck was our favorite), and my husband enjoyed his cheesy Buddha sandwich

I've been twice and both times everything is fresh, hot and delicious Fries are my favorite and these are hot and a crunchy and yummy. The shrimp is fried and cooked well, clean (cause i check) and big pieces. The bread is phenomenal, always important to a good sandwich. I also don't mind the sauce , i usually get sauce on the side so I can determine how much I want but they make it perfect each time. Also doesn't ever take too long, will continue to go here for lunches!

I had an amazing lunch at Saucy Porca that I'd describe as an Asian meets Latin fusion cuisine in midtown St. Louis. I couldn't decide on what to order so decided to order a few different things including: two Baco (Bao) bun rolls one with chicken and one with pork that were incredible, the small order of funky monkey fries that I highly recommend, and the Ropa Vieja beef bowl with kimchi and scallions that was also very delicious. The funky monkey fries were my favorite of the three dishes with fries that had an amazing taste and texture and the toppings were a garlicky aioli along with ground beef and melted Mexican white cheese and it was bonkers.. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant has a cool atmosphere and modern interior. I can't wait to get back there and want to try the eggs rolls and bahn mi.

Cute college town's restaurant right next to SLU. The environment is hip, bright, clean and cute. It has 2 sister branch in Chicago, as it started by a brother and sister. The menu is Vietnamese-Latin fusion, which was a unique combination... made sense since menu was influenced by a talented Puerto Rican chef. We went in at 1 o'clock on a weekend, plenty of street parking and there was one or two groups seated and a couple takeout; maybe it's more crowded during school hours?. Service was attentive, cashier made popular recommendations and owner was friendly. You can order at the front or QR code at the table and food arrived soon after. Vietnamese Asian Latin fusion... this is a good mix if you like saucier banh mi, saltier flavor and on the medium spicy side. I thought it's really interesting that kimchi was used instead of typical pickled carrot and daikon on the banh mi; definitely made it more saucy but unfortunately the meat flavors was hidden a bit. On the other side, the funky monkey fries was delicious and flavor, I understand why this was highly recommended and a popular must try.

What a great little location across from the SLU campus. The ambience was clean, hip and colorful, overfull the decor was quite fun. I especially enjoyed the smaller plates and the decent prices. That's something you have nailed is having limited menu, priced just right and delivering on the quality of the items. Saucy Porka is a Latin Asian fusion. I tried the tostones with both sauces one with curry and mojo (green). The tostones were flavorful but that curry sauce to dip them and the mojo paired very well! The egg rolls were delicious and likely my favorite bite of the day! I found the monkey fries to be a fun addition. I had several of the bao buns which is what brought me in the first place. The bao are impressive and so far my favorite I've tried anywhere in town. A good bao has just the right texture, the right snap, and these delivered. Thank you for the experience!!

*I would actually give this a 3.5 stars* The inside is pretty spacious and can fit small or large groups. We were immediately greeted and seated by very friendly staff. We ordered the Funky Monkey Fries, Picadillo Rice Bowl (added kimchi), Puerto Rican Rice Bowl, and a Tofu Baco (sub kimchi, soy ginger sauce). The Funky Monkey Fries were a 9/10. The crinkle cut fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheese and aioli added such a creamy and rich flavor--it was probably our favorite thing on the menu. The Picadillo Rice Bowl is what I got and if you're a fan of tomato sauce, you'll love this. The ground beef is seasoned perfectly and the cabbage went very well with it. I also recommend adding kimchi for an extra tang of flavor. The Puerto Rican Rice Bowl was a bit on the bland side so we probably wouldn't get this again. It was missing something but I'm not sure what. I think if we bought another sauce to try it with, it would've tasted a bit better. The Tofu Baco was also one of my favorites. The bao was so soft and it wasn't super doughy. The tofu was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I switched the slaw for the kimchi and I think that was a good choice.

My friends and I got takeout from here and honestly I was not expecting it to be this good! It's an Asian/Latin American fusion restaurant, and a lot of their items are super intriguing. It's also SUPER affordable for what you get in my opinion. We tried: -Picadillo Rice Bowl: 9/10 - The beef was spicy, flavorful, and not the least bit dry. The flavors all melded into the bed of rice and potatoes as well, and the egg on top added an additional richness that complemented the dish perfectly. Highly recommend this one. -Chicken Pho: 8/10 - The broth of this pho was some of the best, most complex broths I've had in pho. My only qualm was that the noodles were more like spaghetti than rice noodles. However, the flavor of the soup was great, and pulled the dish together. -Shrimp Baco: 8/10 - I wanted to try these because I saw people raving about them. I loved the sweet, fluffy bao bun, and the shrimp was well cooked. The chipotle crema was creamy and spicy, and the corn added a great textural element. -Duck Baco: 7.5/10 - I liked this one, and the idea of using duck is really good. It's just a little less flavorful than the shrimp baco, but still delicious, and the veggie slaw situation on top brought a zingy freshness that I was looking for.

Overall, a great place to eat if you're close to IKEA! Delicious food and fast service, all reasonably priced. WAIT TIME: Came in and placed an order at 3:30. Food came out at 3:40 on the dot. Impressive! Although considering the time there weren't too many others at the time to serve. FOOD: I got the ropa vieja rice bowl. We also shared two of the bacos, sweet potato fries, and two chorizo egg rolls. Everything was very delicious! My favorites were the sweet potato fries - highly recommend. The egg rolls were also superb. The bacos were decent, I've just had better baos and the meats used in them were better in other forms (I.e. the egg roll or the bowls). The bowl was decently flavored as well. You really can't go wrong, and I like how many small plates they have that you can try plenty! SERVICE: QR code ordering makes it easy to order from table, and server came by as well to mention that if we had any questions to come up and order at counter :) AMBIANCE: Modern aesthetic, spacious as well. PRICE: Everything was pretty reasonable priced. The rice bowl was around $15 and all the appetizers between $3-8 each I believe.

We shared the sweet potato fries and I got the Ropa Vieja Beef Banh Mi sandwich. The crinkle-cut sweet potato fries with are topped with chihuahua cheese and are served with a sweet curry aioli sauce for dipping. They are delicious. My Ropa sandwich was light on the braised beef brisket and it was served cold. I was expecting it to be served hot. It was rich with flavors. I tried their hibiscus tea and it was delicious. They have several gluten free and vegan options available. During the week the only option is street parking. You scan the QR code at your table to order. Service is friendly and fast.

It's exactly what you want from a small, family-owned restaurant: excellent service, flavorful food, affordable prices (steak dinner + sides for under 20$ is a steal), a fun atmosphere, and genuinely friendly staff. The dish comes with steak, black beans, pico, white rice, jack cheese, and maduros. I think most dishes can be customized, but rest assured they're nothing short of flavor! Since I was one of few people, my dish came out rather quickly. The steak was tender and flavorful; the rice was seasoned perfectly and the maduros were fried to perfection. Everything was even better than I imagined. The server/bartender did a great job at keeping my water refilled and making sure I didn't needed anything. They have a fair amount of indoor seating without the tables being too close. Also there is an outdoor patio which is where we sat.
