5. Spicy Steak Ramen
Desiree R.

Absolutely love this place very small and authentic ramen I got the beef ramen and the service was very nice and quick food came out within 10-12 mins I was sipping on a milk tea which I didn't get a picture of but I recommend to my people that want authentic ramen small and the place has out door seating and a drive thru

Walking in it's cute they have nice seating options. Every-time we come the service is great rather we eat in or take it to go. The also offer a drive thru option. Sadly the sushi has been real hit or miss lately. The first few times we have come it was amazing then this past time it didn't taste all that fresh at all. I will give it another shot and not completely cancel them out due to every business has their day

This is one of my favorite spots. I love the drive through aspect, they are open relatively late, and the food is so good! The service is always efficient with very hard workers. I usually get the maplewood roll. They have specialty rolls as well as regular and sashimi etc. the appetizers are bountiful, good ramen, gyoza, and the sandwiches are amazing. The bread they use to make the sandwiches takes it to another level. The inside is a pretty generic looking fast food place, I think it used to be a Quiznos? Recommend take away. Always ready to go to yummi tummi I hope they stick around for the long run!

This is a fairly decent restaurant for your Ramen fix. They have tasty vegetarian friendly Ramen and it is prepared rather quickly. The Service is standard from my limited interaction, my main priority after my run days is food so it was good enough ha. The location is not the best in the world, but its the city and that happens, get it to go and pick it up in the drive through !

1. California Roll 3. Spicy Tuna Roll

We started with hot green tea and 3 simple rolls (spicy tuna, California and crab/avocado). All were well made with fresh ingredients. My dining partner got the spicy steak ramen - generous sized serving with thinly sliced steak. I had the salmon poke bowl - it was full of so many different items - cucumber, edamame, crab leg, salmon, lettuce, seaweed salad, red onion, and a light, but flavorful poke sauce. It was delicious! Everything was very reasonably priced for the portions!

Veggie roll and avocado roll

I've been here 3 times. I think I had nothing on my first visit, years ago, before the covid-era remodel. I've been twice in the past 2 months. I had rolls both times. The rolls are not only good, but they are reasonably priced. Inexpensive. I want to say "cheap," but that word isn't nice enough. A veggie roll with avocados for under $5.50 with tax. The roll was of moderate size, too. I'd like to see more vegetarian rolls on the menu. Most of the rolls are pretty seafood-forward (as you'd expect). Service is reasonably prompt. I suspect YT does a fair amount of takeout/delivery business. The place wasn't busy either of the last 2 times, but I tend to eat away from the usual mealtimes, so that's not surprising.

6. Cardinal Roll - what an excellent choice this was. It's even better tasting than it looks

Run, don't walk to Yummi Tummi! My friend Parker told me that he loved the food here, and since I value his opinion, I decided to go and give them a try. I was very much happy I did. The unassuming, but perfectly located building held secrets that only the initiated would know about. The space was clean, the service was very friendly, and the menu was fairly large, so it was hard to decide on what I actually wanted. I remembered reading the crab rangoon was great, so I gave them a try. I ended up landing on the Cardinal roll because it incorporated three of my favorite sushi toppings, shrimp tempura, crab meat, and spicy tuna. The crab rangoon were really good. 10/10. They were crispy, not too thick of a wrapper, the filling was great. It's definitely a STL style crab rangoon, in which it's more sweet than savory, but I like both types. Most importantly, they actually tasted like crab meat. I can't count the number of times when I've ordered these at others places and didn't even taste crab meat. The amount of sauce included with them was perfect in my opinion, because I often am served a huge bowl of sauce and don't need nearly that much. It always feels wasteful to me, so I'm happy with what we got today. When the cardinal roll came to my table, I was blown away by how beautifully crafted it was. I have to tell you though, it was even more flavorful and amazing tasting than it was visually, which is saying a lot. I honestly love this place and will be back. I stopped on the way out and asked the waitress who made the roll and she pointed to the man in the kitchen. I told her I loved it so much and to thank him for me.

We ordered the Dragon roll, Holiday roll, Crazy roll, Totowa, Crunchy roll. The crunchy roll (second from the left on the plate in the back of the photo) was my favorite. I would come back here for lunch if in the area

2. Gyoza Chicken 5. Shrimp Tempura 6. Cardinal Roll 15. Spicy Girl roll
Kortni B.

First time trying Yummi Tummi in Saint Louis. The food was delivered by grubhub & arrived within an hour. The shrimp tempura was delicious. I actually preferred the veggies to the shrimp in this dish. The chicken gyoza was also pretty good and even better with the sweet soy mix added to my bag. Lastly, I LOVED the Cardinal Roll, but found the tuna in Spicy Girl a bit hard to get down. Way too much sinew/connective tissue made the entire roll pretty unpleasant for me. I actually only tried a couple pieces before I gave up on that one. If you don't mind that, then I'm sure it's a great choice. Overall, I would try them again (no tuna)

Yummi Tummi totally lives up to its name! Even if you haven't heard of Yummi Tummi, chances are you've driven by it dozens of times. Located in Maplewood, off of Big Bend, this hidden gem has an unassuming exterior but exudes comfort inside. The homey dining room has limited seating, but don't let that deter you from dining-in. As you can see, we ordered sushi, sushi, and um *more* sushi! Other menu options range from ramen and poke bowls to sub sandwiches, and the prices are just as tasty!

I was so impressed with this place! The staff was very friendly. Everything we had was delicious! I especially loved the cardinal roll. Will definitely be going back!

The noodles are perfectly cooked, the toppings are fresh, and the portions are generous without feeling overdone. It's a small, cozy restaurant, so expect a wait during peak hours -- but trust me, it's worth it. The space feels intimate and authentic, which honestly adds to the charm. Once you're seated and that bowl hits the table, you forget you even waited. If you're in St. Louis and craving real ramen, this is the spot. No question.

When we pulled up, there was a line but it moved quicker than we thought. Once we got inside, we were both surprised at how small it was. While I've yet to go to Japan, it def gives off the vibe strictly from ambiance and the decor. It's small but intimate and offers seats at the "bar", as well as communal seating. We didn't get a choice and were sat at the bar. Ordering is done through the QR code and water is offered self-serve. We split an order of the appetizers: house cucumbers and karaage. I'm not a huge cucumber fan but I tried it. I preferred the one with miso as I found it to be more subtle in taste. The chicken was average and didn't wow me. We each got the chicken shoyu with no pork, no scallions and an extra egg. It felt like it took a long time to get our food. We were both surprised once we got it as we were expecting actual chicken pieces but after rereading the menu description, it was chicken oil. He was a bit disappointed as both our dishes were covered in scallions. I suggested we not send it back since it took quite a while to get our food and they were close to closing. Nevertheless, I found the broth to be tasty and full of flavor despite there being no meat. Overall, it was a solid first visit.

Robata is a small place with an ample parking lot size for its seating, or close to ample. I think…read morethere may not be enough seating for its customer demand... that's a sign of a popular place. Happy hour prices + the food quality are what had my friend invite me here. Some rolls are half off and so are a few beverages, like hot sake. I had never had hot sake. I've only had any sake once. I liked it fine, but I didn't want a second order after I finished the first. I was disappointed that Robata was out of plum wine. Instead I ordered what was described as a white sangria, but it tasted more like a brandy. I had a few sips and gave it to my friend. I had 4 vegetarian sushi rolls. Only the asparagus was included with happy hour. My 3 other rolls were takuan, pickle plum and BB. As much as I like plum (keep reading), and takuan was a pleasant surprise, and the asparagus was good, the BB, which has tempura asparagus, cream cheese, and sweet soy, was my favorite item of the evening. I was happy to see umeboshi onigiri on the lengthy menu. These were of a good size, but I think it perhaps would have benefitted from a higher pickled plum to rice ratio. (The only time I've had it has been from a food truck and I don't know how representative it is of onigiri.) Each order of food took a while to come out. My friend had trouble getting the server's attention when she wanted to put in more orders. Robata is not a place for a quick happy hour bite. It's going to take a while, especially if you're ordering in multiple rounds like we did. When the kitchen got too busy, my order another roll was denied. That happened well before dinner service ended and it was disappointing. I would have waited a bit longer. But it was probably good to get cut off from sushi at some point. We were a little confused by the bills. My friend may have overpaid (not gotten happy hour price) for some of her items, and there was some question about whether mine had been billed correctly, but in the end we decided that mine was probably correct. Hers, though... we aren't sure. I think I'll return to Robata for the BB roll, plum wine, and maybe something new, but I will be sure to have plenty of time, order a bunch all at once, and check the bill.

Since my source for umeboshi onigiri seems to have ceased operations (does anyone know what…read morehappened to the Izumi food truck?), i was pretty excited to see pickled plum rice balls on the menu here. I came with a friend for happy hour. We got the half off sushi (which included the mackerel nigiri, which is my FAVORITE (Tho, theirs isn't as good as Sushi Hanna in Alton)) and house hot sake, which was perfect for this freezing week. The heat was out? Which the waitress apologized for. They had a space heater out, so we sat right by that. I also ordered a few of the onigiri to go. They aren't the best I've had, but I'll probably be back semi-regularly to get my fix of the flavor, which is just so unique. Same for half off mackerel Maybe one day I'll even try their non-sushi offerings...
