    Part of the bar area!

The vibes are absolutely there, and the drinks here are insanely good. Unfortunately the sushi isn't anything special in my opinion, and dishes have been extremely inconsistent (looks/tastes different week to week, i've tried this place like 4 times) I've gotten their shrimp tempura (delish), spicy salmon (okay but inconsistent), hello kitty roll, and many many gyoza. Their servers seem a bit green but have always been kind :)

The sushi here was okay, nothing too special but fine for midwest sushi. The crab rangoons had a really good amount of filling and would have appreciated a little bit more of a crunch! Our biggest complaint was the service. We walked in and waited for a while before realizing that there was a sign up sheet to be called. It would've been nice if the waiters made us aware of this as it was clear there was no separate host. We returned after we got a call saying it was our turn to be seated but then were standing for another 10 minutes before being approached by a waitress. At this point we asked to sit at the bar, hoping that we would get better service at the bar. This turned out to be true and we enjoyed our conversations with the bartender! We loved the atmosphere of this spot and it's a good spot for a casual date night in the loop. Lots of stickers around and loved the big Totoro mural on the wall :) Not sure that we'd return which is disappointing.

If you're looking for a variety of Asian cuisine then Blue Ocean is for you! They've got an array for different sushi rolls, nigiri & sashimi. There's even a page that GF & DF which is super nice for people's dietary needs! Not only do they have sushi rolls but they've got ramen too. I had the Spicy Beef Ramen & it was soooo good! I would definitely recommend trying it if you haven't! I've been looking for a good ramen place, not pho. The vibe is super cool, I love how dark it is in there for a late night dinner, they've also got fun graffiti type painting on the walls with fun art & what not. Our waitress was helpful & patient with us. She was great. I definitely recommend Blue Ocean in the Delmar Loop!

My friends and I came to eat dinner a couple days ago and this sushi restaurant was pretty good. I got a hot sake which was not bad. And then the spicy pork ramen with an egg was good - I liked the meat, egg, and broth but the noodles were thinner than I like them and a good amount of them were stuck together. I give the atmosphere a 10/10 since the inside was pretty spacious with a good amount of tables. They allowed tap to pay but when paying on the device, the server was looking right at the device even when choosing tip option. We paid higher tips than we normally would since he was looking. I would maybe come here again since the location is great. However, I give 3 stars since it was not anything amazing or terrible.

I decided to check out Blue Ocean for dinner, upon arrival it was pretty quiet and I was swiftly greeted and seated by friendly staff. The atmosphere leans heavy into Japanese pop culture oriented decor including retro anime and kaiju themes with a little bit of a cozy izakaya energy, and the menu leans heavily into the same Japanese inspiration and is complimented by a whiskey and drink bar. I ordered the goons and takoyaki as appetizers, the goons were well fried, layered, and crispy with a filling that was nicely seasoned to separate it self from the general crab rangoons you'll find across the STL area, the takoyaki were soft and chewy however the flavor was a little overpowered by the oil it was fried in. For entrees I ordered the spicy miso ramen with onsen egg, Godzilla roll, and chashu don, the spicy miso ramen broth was well seasoned and had a good body however it was not spicy, the pork and onsen egg were well cooked and melted in the mouth, the Godzilla roll was a unique blend of creamy, chewy and crunchy delights, and the chashu don was pleasant and the pork was melt in your mouth good the same as the spicy miso ramen's pork. If you're looking for a fun Japanese themed outing and dishes, you'll very well find Blue Ocean fits the bill.

Hands down a favorite sushi spot of mine in stl. Sushi is solid, drinks are diverse and the goons tie it all together.

I was excited to try this place but after finishing my meal it was okay. The rice was a bit gummy and to me, it might have not been freshly made. Overall, it was okay and got me full. I walked in and asked a man at the bar if I could place a take-out order and he sent a waitress over right away. Ordering the food was fine and I told the waitress I was going to sit in the foyer. She didn't put my number in the machine to text me when the pickup order was ready nor did she let me know it was ready. After waiting a while I peeked back in and my order was sitting on the table. To me, that isn't being attentive to customers. The inside seems like a chill spot to eat so perhaps maybe I will try to dine in next time to give them another chance.

Spicy Beef and Fried Spicy Tuna/ Spicy Salmon rolls were so good i ate here with my dad

Very good I ate here with my dad i enjoyed it a lot it was his first time trying sushi and ramen

    Shrimp Tempura
    Al W.

Goons and gyoza were excellent! Both were crunchy and savory with great seasoning. Veggie roll was crunchy and fresh, pickle radish was a nice touch. Shrimp tempura roll was simple but tasty, a little on the smaller size. Crunchy Cali was interesting with the crunch, adds a little sweetness to a normal Cali roll. Caterpillar was a favorite, sweet and savory. Mango tango roll had a slight mango flavor. La Flama roll had good spice but not over bearing. Rainbow roll was simple and good. Overall, sushi was fresh and fairly priced. Service was good, quick seating on a Tuesday night, food took some time but we ordered a lot! Restaurant was clean and nice decor.

    Beef lo mein
    Felita M.

Really enjoyed our visit on a dreary Friday afternoon. Not many customers at all. We both ordered beef lo mein that was steamy hot, delicious and a large portion. And we each ordered a mix drink. Mine tasted a lot like a Moscow mule. I didn't care for two things --prices not listed on the menu being the main one. And for a no skilled chopstick patron, no fork or knives were provided. Otherwise, it's a nice restaurant and would be great for a date night.

    Himbo drink
    Jaz M.

I did the street parking fairly close around the corner. Once I entered I was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. I got a Himbo drink that was really good. It was more on the tart side but matched well with my tastebuds. I then ordered the skinny fries and mango tango roll. The fires were ok. They were served with a spicy mayo and when I asked for ketchup l, they said they didn't serve any. They were really greasy too. The skinniness of them had them take on more oil. I'm not sure if they are drained properly. The roll on the other hand was better. It was aesthetically pleasing and had good flavor. If you're in the area it is worth a try.

Fried Sweet Potato roll in back. Sweet Tofu roll in forefront. Both very yummy
    Tigra C.

The food was a 4, the table service was a 2, bordering a 1. They have COVID-19 precautions in place. You order by scanning a QR code with your smartphone's camera, which brings up their menu. Place your order via your phone. There's no way to ask questions about an item unless you happen to catch the waitress passing by. However, there is a box to add instructions/requests, which is how I omitted eel sauce from one of my rolls. The menu said they were out of a few things, which ended up being inaccurate after my bff asked about a Cola. The waitress hated us, her job, or both. She had an attitude about everything and wasn't attentive at all (e.g. Not bringing soy sauce to the table when we ordered multiple sushi rolls. Like, really?!). Some of her actions were COVID questionable also... On to the food. The Sweet Tofu and Fried Sweet Potato rolls were both tasty and fresh. I omitted cucumbers from the tofu roll and requested jalapeños but they don't have jalapeños at this restaurant. Rolls were still very good though. Tokyo Skinny Fries were delicious. Loved how crisp and thoroughly seasoned they were without being salty. Definitely craving more of these right now. Veggie spring rolls and the accompanying sauce were yummy. It's really hard to mess up spring rolls though. I wouldn't go out of my way to return to this ocean, but if I were in the loop and hungry and everything else was closed, I might order some take out.

I particularly like how the menu has illustrations of the cocktails so you know how they are served. Plus everything is seasonal! For food, I give it a 4/5. I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make my way here. They won me over with the tiny dedicated parking lot. At my big age, difficult parking situations are a turn off and I will go home if I can't get reasonable parking. I was able to snag a space in the lot and headed in. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had. It's locally made here in STL and can also be found in several dishes at restaurants around town. The eggs were creamy with the right amount of tang from the mustard. The chili crisp made these deviled eggs easily top five best I've ever had! Planning to stop in again soon for happy hour with more friends

The seating was open so after roaming a bit cozied into a booth behind the bar where a tv was near by to watch the basketball game. From entrance to exit, everyone was friendly and warm. From my vantage point I observed all of the employees working together to make sure drinks were served quickly, food orders came out hot and guests' needs were met. The bouncer was super nice and he actually walked me all the way in. our waitress was also very nice and attentive. It was not busy when we were there and we had reservations for a group of six, which is apparently the most you can have on a reservation. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and everyone got a variety of drinks from the cocktail menu. I got their version of the whiskey sour with the cherry froth on top and it was so good. The waitress said it is the most popular and I can see why I really enjoyed it and would've ordered more if it wasn't so expensive for one drink the table, got a variety of the small bites such as the cheese and the Barada. We showed up without a reservation, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend. We were initially told the wait would probably be around an hour and a half, so reservations are definitely a good idea. Somehow, we got super lucky and received a text that they were ready for us only about 10 or 15 minutes later. We ended up sitting at the bar, which honestly made the experience even better. If you enjoy watching bartenders work their magic, I highly recommend sitting there if you get the chance. The cocktails here are unlike anything we've had before, and it was so much fun watching all the different drinks being made and seeing the creativity that goes into each one. Our bartender, John, was amazing. He was incredibly personable, answered all of our questions, and was genuinely enjoyable to talk to throughout the evening. Between the two of us, we tried four cocktails. I started with the Linea Uno and asked John if he could make it less bitter after the woman sitting next to me mentioned that was an option. It was delicious, although I apparently didn't pay enough attention to the menu when ordering because it was tequila-based, and tequila normally isn't my first choice. The Trade Winds was one of the coolest drinks of the night, made with clarified rum, apricot, and coconut and topped with mango air. The mango air literally looked like bubbles but smelled like mango. Such a unique presentation, and the drink itself was really enjoyable. My husband tried the New York Whiskey Sour, made with clarified whiskey, yuzu, tart cherry, and black lime cordial with a red wine foam. Again, the presentation was beautiful, and it tasted just as good as it looked. My personal favorite was Ankra's Passion Fruit Martini, made with vodka, vanilla, passion fruit, lime, and bubbles. It came with a small glass of champagne on the side, which was a really nice touch. John mentioned that I could drink the champagne separately or add it to the martini as I went. I ended up pouring some into the cocktail, and for me, it balanced out the sweetness of the passion fruit perfectly. The entire speakeasy experience was just fun, from trying to find the entrance to making our way inside and finally settling in at the bar. We took plenty of pictures and videos along the way, but I'm intentionally not posting most of them because I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone visiting for the first time. I will share a picture of the red light you need to look for at The Foundry since we initially had a little trouble figuring out where to go, along with some photos of our drinks. The rest of the journey inside is something I think you should experience for yourself. Creative cocktails, beautiful presentations, a genuinely fun atmosphere, and fantastic service from John made this an easy five-star experience for us. If you're visiting The Foundry and enjoy unique cocktails and hidden speakeasies, None of the Above is absolutely worth finding. Just learn from us and make a reservation. We got very lucky!
