The service was great! Our waitress was a young lady who was very kind and seemed a little shy, but she did an excellent job and was very attentive. We ordered the Teriyaki Entrée Combo with chicken and steak. The entrée itself was absolutely delicious and definitely a 5-star meal. The chicken and steak were flavorful, and we really enjoyed it. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wasn't a fan of the soup and house salad that came with the meal. In my opinion, those were more of a 1-star experience. We came here while driving across state borders and decided to stop since we were craving ramen on a cold rainy day. The restaurant is in a quiet suburban area. It was clean inaide and the menu was simple but had all the basics. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. For the price, compared to city restaurants, it felt like a great deal. This Japanese-style ramen joint is one that I've visited twice now and is fire in my opinion and this is coming from someone who lived in Japan for three years not that long ago and I think I know my ramen pretty well. This is one of my favorite ramen places in the St. Louis area, albeit there's several places I haven't been to yet. Most recently I ordered the Super Ichiro Ramen that has a little spicy heat that I love and was heavenly. On my first to Ichiro awhile back I ordered the pork katsu ramen and remember it as delicious as well. Also, for an appetizer I ordered the Chinese style dumplings that were killer and on my previous visit had the gyoza Japanese dumplings that were delicious too and the dunking sauce for both appetizers was amazing. Drinks I've had are the milk boba tea and before that the Thai ice tea and both recommended. Service is friendly but a little bit perfunctory as is common in many Asian restaurants I've been to here and overseas as well and the decor isn't anything fancy and typical of other Japanese restaurants I've been to around St. Louis, which is to say fine. read more

This is by far the best ramen I've had in St Louis. The portion size was fantastic, I ate more than I should have because it was so good. The chicken katsu was delicious. You can tell it was breaded in house. Service was prompt and very good. The place itself is so calm and relaxing. Honestly I'll be back probably weekly, it's so nice to know I won't have to leave far from Arnold to get some great ramen. I stopped by within the first month they were open and it was a little crazy. No clear way to determine what you were supposed to do once entering as there was a half wall, but no signage and the staff was really busy and no one there to acknowledge. All of us opted to leave. I stopped back in last month a little later in the evening and things had quieted down. I was greeted when I walked in and when I indicated I was dining in, he took me to a booth. There were a few tables occupied and there were several walk ins to pick up to go orders while I was there. Quite a large menu so I spent some time reviewing the different Ramen options. I decided to try the Pork Katsu Ramen. I asked about smaller portions of the Crab Rangoon since it was just me but only came as six. The Ramen came out pretty quick, but the waiter indicated the pork katsu would be a little longer. Not sure if the Pork Katsu is always on the side or normally comes in the Ramen since it came later. The Katsu was good, it was fresh and juicy with a great crisp. The Ramen part was ok, the noodles were different than I have had in other Ramen I have had, can't pinpoint the difference but they weren't the same. There was corn included, and I haven't had that before either. It didn't have a depth of flavor that I am used to. Granted, my first Ramen was from another local place and that is my comparison for all others. Love that something new came to the South County area! read more

I drove 40 minutes to check this place out! I REALLY WANTED TO like this place, but I left disappointed. They are still new and probably figuring out a few kinks. This review is from my first time experience. My friend and I ordered their ramen and we shared a bingsu as our dessert. The Spicy Pork Ramen and Sapporo Ramen. I get a tingling or tightness in my face when I eat too much MSG, which is the reaction I got after I ate their ramen. If you're not sensitive to MSG, go for it! I'm not necessarily against the use of MSG, just not too much of it. The ramen needed more broth and was too concentrated for me. Flavors were okay, but a bit too salty. Noodles were a mix of spaghetti and ramen texture. It needed more starchiness and chewiness. The pork Chasu was difficult to chew and rubbery, and the egg was a bit overcooked. The Strawberry Bingsu was questionable. I wish I had taken the photo of the first Bingsu that they brought out because it was so bad. It was just shaved ice and popping boba in a small dish for $8.00. It was nothing like the photos in their menu and would've been finished with 2 spoonfuls. My friend complained, so the gentleman cut up fresh strawberries and remade it for us. It was a little better, but it was definitely not worth $8.00. Flavors were good and loved their shaved ice, but I hope they can figure out the quantity, quality, and presentation of it. Ice is cheap, y'all. Definitely would use a bigger bowl for the shaved ice. Overall, it was a poor experience, and I probably will never get a ramen there again. I'll come back to try their Bento Boxes or donburi if friends ever want to go, but I probably won't go out of my way. Other things to look forward to.... Occasionally, you will hear a lady yelling in the kitchen. They do have a friendly staff, clean atmosphere, and convenient parking. read more

The gyoza was tasty, but it tasted very similar to frozen ones I've had before. The shoyu ramen was disappointing. The broth was flat in flavor, not the dynamic, umami I expect from ramen. The noodles were overcooked and in a clump at the bottom of the bowl. The egg was hard boiled rather than soft. Something I quickly noticed was that the menu consisted of five pages of various Chinese and Korean dishes before the two pages of ramen options. Maybe their other dishes are better, but for a restaurant that has "ramen" in the name, I would hope the ramen is the focus but it didn't feel that way. I'd be willing to try it again in a few months after they have worked out some of the kinks and I'll update my review when I do. read more

Yesterday, we decided to try Ichiro Ramen anew restaurant near us. It's located in the Oakville Dierbergs plaza downtown there is plenty of parking near the entrance. Since ramen is in the name (along with other Japanese specialties) we ordered two kinds: more traditional ramen with broth and sautéed ramen. We added some gyoza as appetizers. I took this order home, but would have really enjoyed eating this there. The decor is fresh and new. My husband enjoyed his ramen & so did I. I like gyoza crispy, but it was tasty nevertheless. What I really liked in the tonkotsu ramen was the broth and the beef. The beef was absolutely delicious and the star of the ramen. The downsides of our meal was the spicy miso ramen didn't have any spice at all and we had to ask for extra hot sauce to add in. We also went during a busy time and waited about 40 minutes for our food. Would recommend an appetizer if you are really hungry to snack on during your wait. I enjoyed the toppings they added to the ramen, especially the soft-boiled egg because it was marinated and full of flavor. The portions are huge and I struggled to finish. The ambiance is good and it's a nice place, and the servers are really nice and want to help you!
