Tonight was our first and last time eating at Sunny China. The food was terrible. The hot braised chicken had no spice, no flavor and barely any sauce. The orange chicken had flavor but it was not a good flavor, and quality and texture of the meat was so bad, my kids and I were actually spitting it out. This is my first time trying and definitely my last. I got the dinner special - sesame chicken and the chicken is chewy and has little to no sauce and the white rice was was the only thing good. my boyfriend got orange chicken and it was chewy as well, you cant even take a bite of this chicken... you have to cut it if you would like smaller bites. I ordered two combo plates, one with orange chicken and the other with sesame chicken. Both were disappointing. The chicken was hard, chewy, and tough. The rice was dry and not at all satisfying for the price of $28! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The only part of the meal I enjoyed was the fortune cookie. :( read more

The sweet and sour chicken was amazing. Most places no longer put pineapple, green peppers and onion and that makes it amazing!

For strip mall Chinese food, it did the trick. Service was the minimum. LoMein I ordered was solid; the crab rangoons were oddly sweet, which is cool if that's what you like. The ambiance was better than I expected. They seemed to have a decent stream of to-go orders, which is saying something. Sorta. 3.25 stars. read more

We were craving Chinese food, and we hadn't been here in a while. Food was hot and fresh. Sesame chicken, fried rice, lo mein, egg rolls, shrimp in lobster sauce- all very good! This place moved from creve coeur. This is my first time here. The soup came out fast and hot but a little salty, but that is a nice change because other places are usually too bland. My partner says the hot and sour has a full mouth warming spice, not the punch you in the face spice and he would order it again, which he rarely says. Good job! Appetizers were all good and came out quick, the dumpling sauce is an Umami explosion... must try. The dumplings are true pot stickers, again you must get them. Velvet chicken is good, better with a little soy sauce. Mai fun is better with a little more soy too. All around great meal and the staff was very friendly. Cant wait to come back and try the tofu dishes. read more

Pretty decent little spot. The crab Rangoon, pork egg rolls and pot stickers are good as well as the fried rice. We also tried the general tso chicken, hot braised chicken, sesame chicken and ham lo mein. The chicken dishes all had good flavor, but the meat was a little tougher than we were used to. read more

We picked up 4 dinners from Sunny China plus crab Rangoon and extra egg rolls. Every dinner was flat in flavor, absolutely no spice or taste. We all agreed that this restaurant has lost something. Even the packets of sweet sour sauce were not very tasty. I love hot mustard. I have never had hot mustard that came out of the packet like jelly. Didn't eat it. We were very disappointed bc we have previously eaten there for years. Sorry to do a report like this but again very disappointed. read more

Fried rice is just okay. Bland. Service at the pick up counter was flat and she did not thank us for ordering from them. Curry sauce was good. Egg rolls are average. Doubt we will return. There are so many better places to eat. read more

Was in the strip mall going to AAA and saw the open sign for Sunny China. I looked at the menu in the window and thought the price for lunch combination was a little high. But I thought I'd give it a try and sure glad that I did. I ordered the general tso's chicken. I asked for extra spicy and extra sauce. The lady was very accommodating, smiled and welcomed me to the restaurant. When I got the lunch order I was surprised at the amount of food for the price. I thought maybe there was mistake and I received a dinner portion but it indeed was the lunch combination along with fried rice and two crab rangoon. I've gone to many restaurants in South county and this is one restaurant I will definitely make a return. Five stars all the way read more

My mom and I unfortunately had to spend the day at the Mercy hospital across the street and we ordered take out from here on our way home. It was fast, fresh, and delicious. This is what we needed after a long day! I would go back anytime. Chinese food is some of my favorite cuisine and this restaurant hits the spot! read more

The fact that they offer a dinner special was very nice. I ordered the sesame chicken and the hot and sour soup. The soup was delicious. The chicken wasn't overly amazing but warmed up well the next day. The food seemed very comparable to many other Chinese restaurants. If in the area, I would consider ordering from them again if in the area. read more

The fried rice is legitimately inedible. The flavor was terrible and didn't even have onion in it! It's unlike any other plain fried rice I've ever eaten, I'm not sure how you can screw that up. Crab Rangoon was overly sweet which is not my preference. Will not return and threw my order directly in the trash. The place looks clean as an upside. read more

We have ordered takeout numerous times since they opened. The food is great and always plentiful. The soups are so delicious especially the hot and sour soup. One day my husband and I dropped in to sit down and have a leisurely lunch and was not disappointed. For starters we had the hot and sour soup, egg roll and steamed dumplings and their finest hot tea to top it off. He ordered seafood combination with jumbo shrimp, crab, and scallops with fresh vegetables in a white sauce. So delicious. I had hot braised chicken with fried rice. The sauce was thick and slightly spicey with a touch of sweet which is how I like it. The whole meal was superb. The staff is very friendly and helpful and for anyone who hasn't tried this restaurant I highly recommend you go and see for yourself. Honestly... inedible. I'm not sure if we had "end of the day" chicken or what but it was so stringy and hard my husband and I both nearly choked. I realize these are trying times for the restaurant industry so I'll give two stars instead of one since we did eat the crab rangoon and fried rice... which I would describe as average. Food was okay. I called ahead and placed an order for pick up, they told me it would be 10 minutes, then I drove 10 minutes to get there. When I got there, they hurried to start my spring roll order, which I'm 99% sure were frozen spring rolls just needing to be popped into hot oil for a minute. It was kind of expensive for what I got considering they were likely frozen pre-made and that I only got 4 spring rolls. No meat, no prep other than heating the oil. I had an awful experience today. I ordered shrimp fried rice, shrimp egg foo young and hot & sour soup. The only item I could eat was the soup. It was fine. But the fried rice and egg foo young were so disgustingly greasy, they were inedible. And the shrimp were like mush. I'm wondering if they just sent me leftovers from yesterday or maybe the wknd. This food was NOT even close to fresh. I've had really good food from this restaurant, but today it was just awful! I ordered it thru Door Dash and they refunded my money, thank goodness. I will not be ordering from here again. They just lost a good customer. A good restaurant should NEVER send out inedible food. read more

The food is very fresh and much better than the place that was there before. When I went there the people were super friendly and polite and even gave me and my family free dessert. The sesame ball was really good. Their General Tso's Chicken is the best! It's so much cleaner than the last place that was here. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. A little, mostly take-out Chinese place. My friend and I went there on a whim. We both had the hot braised chicken, which was served with a scoop of rice (brown rice extra). Very good, but a little too spicy. I think it was worth a 15-mije trip, and would recommend Sunny China. Cost of entrée with brown rice + fountain soda + tax = about $13.50. read more

Ordered take out for the first time here, was so glad they answered late on Labor Day. I got general tsos chicken and husband got hot braised chicken. We also ordered crab rangoon (SOME OF THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! I could eat 10 if my stomach would allow it- lol). Food was so hot when we got home, like it just came out of the kitchen, you could tell it was made fresh. Quality and fresh ingredients- you could really tell everything was made in-house. I was impressed. Good flavor. Definitely our go-to Chinese place. Excited to try more on their menu!!! Husband called and went in for pickup and said that they were very nice. The food at Sunny China is OK, however, we ate at the previous owners restaurant 2-4 times per month (sometimes in sometimes carry out). They had the best won ton soup anywhere. Sunny China does not have won ton soup so we will not be eating there again. read more
