Huge bar with a view of the big screen!

What an awesome place! Somewhere between a chill neighborhood bar and a vibe, Fresh & Chill is That Place that you will want to go back to again and again. If for no other reason than to work your way through the Puerto Rican, Dominican and Central American influenced menu! This menu is incredible! It has so many of the Caribbean comforts that just aren't available most places in St. Louis. I went conservative and just got the arepas and some charro beans. Both were amazing! And the service! The owner himself was working behind the bar and greeted me immediately. Everyone was super friendly and gracious. I was just picking up a to go order, but I sat down and talked with everybody because I felt so welcome. It was like being at your Tia's beautiful, fancy home. They even have a patio! Now that will be a fun place to hang out when it warms up. Just go. Experience something different. Enjoy yourself. And eat some good food. I'm already planning my next visit.

    Super cute dining space

Bacon IS finger food. Fight me. I love this spot so much, the only way it could be better is if I could walk there everyday! Today was my second visit, portions are very generous! Service is amazing and the ambiance, per the name is "Chill" I can't wait to eat my way through the menu, but for the time being, my favorite is the breakfast pizza. It was everything I wanted, and I had leftovers! The croquettes are filled with delightful potato goodness and I also recommend the fresh juices! They just recently got their liquor license, so brunch cocktails are coming soon! I also recommend asking for the salsa picante if you like spicy, it's an excellent add to literally anything.

Great service. Location is tucked behind the Office Max and El Maguey. Super spacious building. I'm not sure where they source their eggs from but they taste farm fresh, as in these are the best tasting eggs I've had in a while. Lamb and waffles was a welcome departure from the usual chicken and waffles you can get everywhere. Tender chops and fluffy waffle. A lovely fruit salad came with my PB&j pancakes.

The quality has not wavered once. I ordered what I always order: The Combo (fried eggs, maplewood smoked bacon, cheese, brioche toast), extra egg, extra bacon. Most kitchens treat a fried egg as binary (runny or ruined). Songbird has mastered the middle register: lacy edges with a yolk that stays glossy and intact right up until the first bite. I ordered them over hard, and they came out a bit closer to over medium, but they were just as good as I wanted them to be. The bacon carries real smoke. This is a decadent sandwich, big enough that half of it would make a light breakfast; I wasn't remotely hungry after one, the second half was indulgent. The service made the move too. The hostess still recognizes returning customers, and the bigger room finally lets the dining experience breathe. The service at the table could have been a little warmer as we've had it the past, but it is still professional. I was there with two close college buddies, one of whom declared his latte excellent. I keep meaning to get adventurous with the menu, but it is genuinely hard to find a bacon, egg, and cheese toasted this perfectly, and I'd go twice in one day if given the opportunity. 4.8 A full five arrives the day when I can arrive first thing on a Saturday without a 30 minute wait, honestly, it's hard to get a reservation here because of its popularity. Good for them. Cheers to you, Songbird. Dolly would be proud

*Not accessible *Not kid friendly…read more This location has a lot of improvements to be made. The menu is bland and they deter you from making modifications. I wanted my toast's jam to be on the side and they said no. It was a thick tasteless brick without the jam. The items are not as traditional for a breakfast spot, and when I asked the server what they were known for she said the drinks.... They also run a tight turnaround time so they will make you feel uncomfortable when its time to clear your table and pay the bill because they will tell you the next reservation is in 5minutes. The plates were all different and my guest who got a sandwich had her food come out in a plastic fry basket instead of the nicer plates. Odd. As I mentioned earlier, they are not kid friendly as they don't have a kids menu or kid friendly items like fruit and pancakes. We ordered a side of avocado and chicken sausage as those were the safest for us. Also there are no changing tables in the restrooms. Accessibility note: the entrance is a giant multi-slope and 1 turn ramp into a cramped lobby. The men's restroom is the only one on the main floor and female restroom is tucked far in the backroom inaccessible due to a steep step in the back. It is not wheelchair or walker friendly.

We walked in and grabbed a seat in the bar area. The bartender was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. We started with a round of drinks and the Toasted Raviolis. My friend was impressed with them! For dinner, I ordered the Steak Modiga with a loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the modiga sauce was delicious with all the provel, prosciutto, and mushrooms that covered the steak evenly. The loaded baked potato was hot and filled with all the goods including cheese and bacon. My friend got the ribeye with the loaded baked potato, and it was just right for him. I decided to end the evening with another Tito's and lemonade instead of dessert. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Carnivore. It's a fantastic local spot on The Hill that I'll definitely be returning to again and again! If you're looking for a place to host a small event, Carnivore has a great spot upstairs called The D'Amici Room. It can hold up to 100 people and was amazing to work with for a Buffalo Trace event in October 2025.

Asked for a list of specials but, even though menu said ask for starter/chef special, she didn't seem to know about it. The Caprese flatbread was underwhelming. The tomatoes were not red or flavorful, they looked like tomatoes on a Subway sandwich. The base/bread of the flatbread was prepackaged and tasted like nothing. Ordered a $68 bone in ribeye. Undercooked which had to be a challenge given the thin cut. The best part about the steak was the crunchy sea salt that topped it. Even Cracker Barrel fills your water. Our waters were never refilled. The menu prices did not meet the low bar standards for every part of this dining experience from the service to the poor quality of the food. Unfortunately this place was a bust.

They had a great happy hour around 3pm, both our appetizers were on the happy hour menu, as well as our Pinot Grigio drinks. The food was excellent, we had focaccia bread, and fried calamaris. We didn't have them but the wagu sliders and chicken lollipops both were popular at the other table. We also got a white chocolate tiramisu to go that was fantastic. The appetizers, artichokes, zucchini fries and Burratta were amazing and the whole party enjoyed them. This was a birthday dinner for me so I was excited when I got there (my former review was about our amazing lunch there so I expected so much more). My mother ordered the pork chop which she enjoyed, she said it wasn't special but it was a good pork chop. My brother ordered the crab enchiladas which he hated. He did admit that it could be a taste thing as he expected sauce and there was bone, just cheese and noodles and crab and not enough cheese. My daughter and I both ordered filet and lobster with scalloped potatoes. I overlooked that it was served with sauce, which had it been flavorful sauce would have been okay but it was as if they took milk... just milk and poured it over each plate. The steaks were not medium as expected... more like a medium well and the lobster... well it is weirdly shredded partially with a bit left in the tail... my daughter complained hers was chewy and mine was ungodly nasty fishy. I even gave my daughter a piece of mine which she said tasted nothing like hers and she couldn't even swallow it. I am not a person to eat a significant portion of a meal and complain so we just ate what we wanted but it didn't take a lot to eat a significant portion because there wasn't much there. For 75 a plate I expected at least quality food and what I received was not quality food. The potato was not bad to me but everything on the table was served tepid and not at all hot. However there were some things warmer than others... my steak was warm, my daughters was cold, her lobster was warm and mine was not. The pork chop was just tepid and the potatoes were just cold. The same went with appetizers, fried artichokes were cold but zucchini was so hot I burned my mouth.... It was much busier when we went last night than when we went for dinner and i left feeling as if they either need more cooks or one that can handle a busy restaurant because the food was just not good. A big disappointment as it was my birthday dinner and one I had really looked forward to. If I were to go back it would be for the lobster roll which was the amazing lunch I had some time back or for an appetizer and a drink and that simply because the staff really are great and the little store out front so cute and J love Italian Grocers... If you go here I recommend asking questions and taking a look at reviews of what you would like to order. Again, I recognize everyone has different tastes and this review speaks to my thoughts on the food last night not on the restaurant as a whole which I feel tries very hard to be a good experience for customers.

It was my birthday and for 60+ years, my traditional b-day dinner has been rigatoni. My in-laws suggested Charlie Gitto's and it was fantastic. So, this year, we were again passing through St Louis on my birthday and I wanted to go back. I was hoping that it was as good as I remembered. I feared that I would be disappointed but I wasn't. It was as great as I remembered. I had their rigatoni with sausage, my wife had baked spaghetti with meatballs, my BIL had lasagna and my SIL had salmon. I also added a classic Ceasar salad. All of our entrees were excellent. The service is superb and definitely deserves a 5-star rating. Our waiter was excellent - he said he's been doing this for 18 years and was one of the best, most professional waiters I've ever met. Anthony, the manager, deserves special thanks for resolving an issue with where we were being seated. He was also the epitome of professionalism. Charlie Gitto's - despite me living in Ohio, you might become a new birthday tradition. Thanks.

I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make my way here. They won me over with the tiny dedicated parking lot. At my big age, difficult parking situations are a turn off and I will go home if I can't get reasonable parking. I was able to snag a space in the lot and headed in. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had. It's locally made here in STL and can also be found in several dishes at restaurants around town. The eggs were creamy with the right amount of tang from the mustard. The chili crisp made these deviled eggs easily top five best I've ever had! Planning to stop in again soon for happy hour with more friends
