I definitely prefer the spicy chicken sausage over the plain chicken, and I like the mozzarella and basil base much more than the regular cheese pizza. The caprese bruschetta was also just okay and a bit too salty. The chicken and cheese pasta was average, but the portion size was great. The standout for me was the beef lasagna--I absolutely loved it. It was delicious, and I just wish the portion had been a bit bigger. I always eat at Sauce when I'm visiting Tucson from my home in Chicago. My standards for pizza are pretty high, but Sauce makes the grade and then some. I love the upscale ingredients and toppings like cremini mushrooms and arugula. The "sauce" itself is delicious. I think the restaurant earned their name fair and square. The crust is not Chicago style, but why would it be? They use super fresh ingredients for the dough is what you might call Tucson style, which bakes into its own crave-able, yummy crust. The service is friendly, welcoming, and the food comes out quickly. It's a great little spot with an outdoor patio, some booths, and enough tables to bring your friends. I really love their Caesar salad pizza; it's filling but doesn't sit heavy. Service is always positive and happy, and the employees seem taken care of. We lost my husbands $180 Invisalign retainer by accidentally putting it in a napkin then in the trash; and the employees helped me find it! It took 10 minutes but we got it haha! This location is pretty small and there is limited seating. I ended up ordering my food and taking it home. It was ready pretty quickly which was nice. I love ordering the broccoli and Mac and cheese. Sauce is perfect for when you don't feel like cooking. Servings are pretty big. read more

About 20 percent of the time, this place is so good. Problem is that it is WILDLY inconsistent. This is a management/ownership created problem. For example, sometimes the pizza is cooked, but it appears that raw toppings are thrown on top in the car on the way for delivery. One example: a pepperoni pizza with what appeared to be cold lunchmeat ham sort of shredded over the top uncooked. Sometimes the entire pizzas are underdone. Sometimes the pizzas are overdone. You never know what you're gonna get, it's like a sad lottery--which is not great. You'll order the same pizza and the amount of toppings will be different every time. Also, sometimes the crust is thin, crispy and chewy, and sometimes it's thick and gross and doughy. I'm getting mad wasting money on the bad experiences here which have started outweighing the good. My family has been going to this Sauce Pizza location for years. The service and friendliness of the staff is always amazing, they are consistently wonderful and will accommodate any requests you make for splitting salads etc. The value for the fresh food is very good, the pizzas are always so piping hot and freshly made, also the wait time between ordering your food and when it comes to your table is very impressive. The only tiny negative would be sometimes the noise level inside the restaurant can get a bit much if it is real busy. But sitting outside with a view of the mountains is as good as it gets! The salad combinations are incredibly delicious, the salmon with farro is such a hearty, satisfying salad as is the beet/quinoa salad, the cremini mushroom and carmelized onion pizza on a thin crust is such a delight. Plus there are a number of wines and beers to choose from. Overall a no-brainer place to visit if you need an elegant yet quick meal! The lasagna is generally pretty good so I ordered a tray from the catering menu to take home. Cost is about 70 bucks out the door. What I received was so lame that I am compelled to comment here. Taking both 1 cm² chunks of turkey that I believe are pre-fabricated. Whatever dressing they had on my tasted was oil. This is a great spot. The food is yummy! The servers are friendly and keep you supplied. I like the chicken and pine nut salad with champagne vinegarette dressing. Add the sour dough roll and tropical ice tea and it's great. My husband's favorite is the chicken Caesar and parmesan pizza and my daughter prefers the Mac 'N Cheese. The patio is good with shades, heaters and especially now, misters and a good distance from the street. When I indulge I add a chocolate chip cookie. A good place to escape to. read more

Last night my husband I did the $22 sampler platter (ends August 31) and it was such a great value! Each person gets a glass a wine, you share a salad--which are very large-- and share a pizza. For wine they have several good selections. I went with a red blend and my husband got a Pinot noir. For salad, we got the roasted vegetable and it was full of all kinds of good stuff: cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squash, walnuts, and a perfect champagne vinaigrette. For pizza, we went with the spicy chicken sausage which has hatch green Chiles! Yum! Green Chiles are one of my favorite foods so we had to try it and it was super good. They spice is there! Usually you can pick where you want to sit but it was super busy so they assigned us a table outside. Totally fine. Perfect view of the Catalinas and the incoming storm. It's super casual where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Only complaints are that we got our salad before our wine and when our pizza came out, our table was super crammed and the girl said she would bring us side plates and clear the other ones. She never came back, which is no big deal-it was super crowded--and I just assume she forgot. We got the plates ourselves, problem solved easily. The flavor of everything was excellent. I suppose when you order take out you need to expect to reheat the food even though we are quite close by. The soup was creamy and tasted fantastic. The pizza crust was a bit too soft the the flavors were great. I didn't get the roll with the soup but that's no big deal. Maybe because they were so busy things weren't quite up to par. I have always really liked Sauce, but I've had a couple less-than amazing experiences at this location as of late. We ordered a pizza and some tomato soups for carryout late on a Thursday. I had not tried the soup before, and I will say it was pretty good. Although my sister totally hyped it and said it comes with a slice of fresh parmesan melted over the top. There was no parmesan on ours. I really like the Sausage and Caramelized Onion pizza so we chose that. When we opened the box, our pie had no sausage. It was substituted with bacon. Bacon and caramelized onion was not a good combo. There was not enough savory flavor to balance out the sweetness of the onion. Not sure how that happened, because it's one of their signature pies. I can't imagine someone rang it in wrong. If they ran out of sausage and took it upon themselves to use bacon, that's not really cool. The pie was also cold and soggy, which made me wonder if they decided to give us one they were gonna throw out that was close enough. Maybe they were closing the kitchen and didn't care. I have come here with my mom a number of times, and we love sharing a pizza and a Caesar salad. The rolls are very good. So I will try again sometime, but every time I've come with my husband, something is wrong, so he is really turned off of Sauce. read more

Been wanting to come here and try the pizza for a bit and since we were close today was the day. We ordered the 'Pig' pizza which is a meat topping and added mushrooms and hatch green chilis. We decided on hand stretched thin crust. Our pizza came out pretty quick as they cook them in a very hot oven. The crust was a bit thicker then I was expecting but was still good. The toppings were spread over the whole pizza and not center loaded as some places tend to do. All the toppings including the cheese were fully cooked and crispy where expected. The sauce was light and didn't over power the other toppings. Overall a really good pie and we'll have to come back. read more
