No stars for you! This place is a hot mess of hipster attitude and a lack of enthusiasm. When did it become OK to work in the customer service industry and not follow through with acceptable customer service??!! If you want to know the answer to this question I pose, then I suggest you take a visit to Saturdays Surf NYC in the west village. Recently visited this location after a few hours of fun/exciting shopping in the neighborhood and went from happy and zen to annoyed and agitated. Talk about a resting b**ch face of a place! I'm sorry, is it not your JOB to go to the back and get other sizes not readily available on the floor without giving me attitude and acting like we are ruining your day- whereby you just stand around and have as much go-getter attitude as someone who just imbibed on the green? And did I ask for YOUR forced opinion about an item we didn't like, as though your Williamsburg-bound "L train" look is fashion-fwd and something we want to mimic? You can embrace the surfer/skater dude look and still have some poise, presence, and good customer service - take a cue from those who work at DC, VANS, Burton, Volcom,etc. Get a clue! #surfsdown brahs! read more

Every time I walk into this store I dream of getting barreled. It's great b/c it's right down the street from me and there's always a surf video playing in the window. You can stop and even if your girlfriend is right next to you just hang out and watch surf videos for a while. She will eventually get upset, I'd say after 45 seconds, if the video has some insane barrel footage (Slater surfing Soup Bowls, or Andy Irons at Shipsterns kind of stuff), you'll get a minute out of her attention, but it's rad nonetheless. Buy her a coffee to make up for it - the coffee they serve here is some of the best around. You'll get another minute of vid watching time while they slow drip. Their board selection is fairly choice. Lots of custom riding equipment - mostly for the soul surfer types. It's also great to have a spot in the hood with basic supplies when you are in a pinch. Wax, fin keys, a new pair of winter booties for the thrice a year heavy nor easter. However, they seem to never have epoxy repair kits, just suncure. But the place is clearly serving up styling board shorts and lattes rather than Q-cells and resin. A true charger needs both if you ask me.... But it's a rad shop you should come in check out the magazines, try on a cord sweater or two, and check the Twin Fins out. read more

Nope. Nope. Nope. Walked in randomly and ordered a cup of regular coffee with milk. My expectations weren't high for this place, but wow did the coffee taste fall short of what even I was expecting. It was just terrible, the taste is not what good coffee should taste like. read more

What a joke of a surf shop. I was looking for a single fin screw and they couldn't give it to me because on the off chance somebody came in looking for a mono fin this week (unlikely in soho) I'd be creating "bad business" for them. Please find me a legitimate surf shop without extra screws on hand. They're more concerned with their overpriced T-shirt sales for IG models than they are with their actual surf customers. read more

This is a solid place to get some board-shorts and a latte. What? Yep you get a 2fer when you come here. Shop for your surf apparel while sipping on some delicious brew. Their beans are from La Colombe. I personally like their cold brew iced coffee - $3.25 a cup. Cash only. This spot is more open and spacious than their Soho location. The only seating they have are wooden benches outside and wooden platforms inside along the front windows, it's a good spot to sit at if you come in when their not too busy. I can't comment on their surf apparel because they only carry men's, but I'm okay with that, I'm not planning on doing any surfing in New York City. PS- They a restroom. Coming from three years in San Diego I was poised to find a surf shop with the local vibe I had experienced at so many stores in Southern California. Perhaps it was my double overhead expectations, but this place was kind of a flop. Clothing was fine, though not as well curated as I expected for a trendier store in the neighborhood. Worth checking out a spot like Aloha Sunday in North Park, San Diego, or online (since you're probably in NY), for better products at similar prices. As far as an actual surf shop goes, their selection was limited. Nice boards but at those prices if you can wait, better off ordering a custom. Will be picking up wax and leashes elsewhere. read more

Really like this brand and enjoyed my visit to the store. It's cool they have a coffee bar in the store (and a resident dog when I went by today). Friendly staff too. Prices aren't low, but I always find the clothing to be well made. read more

Saturdays feels like a case of the Mondays. Pretentious employees act like they are doing you a favor by being there. Totally unhelpful, rude, patronizing. The clothes are way overpriced and of low quality. Of the two shirts I bought one has ripped in 2 places, the other shrunk a full size after washing and hang drying. All these issues compounded by the fact they have no return policy. So buyer beware, if you walk out of the store with it you are stuck with it. read more

You surf? I don't...but I do skating, snowboarding and I'm in Saturdays Surf NYC! A surfing stuff shop combines a coffee bar, serving coffee from La Colombe and Chocolate from Mast Brother. How cool it is! The barista absolutely is a stylish guy to fit in the vibe of this shop. The staff must skate to work when I saw those skateboards leaning against the bar. I might skate here next time!? "Lost Weekend NYC" is another one selling both clothing stuff and coffee in downtown, and I'll stop by someday. read more

Pretty Blah by New York standards. The cafe itself is kind of bizarre in that's located within a small clothing store. They have a very limited selection of food and drinks. We walked in, and there was nobody at the cafe's separate counter. It took a solid 5 minutes for someone to walk over and greet us. We both ordered chocolate croissants and ice coffee. I asked if the croissants could be heated up and they said the only way they could do that was if they shot hot steam at it from the espresso machine. I opted for the room temperature croissant. The coffee was so-so. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about. read more

Solid La Colombe coffee! I prefer this new location because of the big windows and the corner spot. Too bad only paper cups, but same as other location. :-( Great alternative to Bluestone and Toby's where you can't even sit. Staff can be a bit snobby. But if you keep chatting with them they eventually loosen up. Great selection of Mast Brothers chocolate. Oh. And they've got surfboards. read more

I came upon this store earlier in the year and bought a few things. I came back to return one of those items and was told 'only store credit' even though there was no sign at the counter that said so. They also refused to credit the difference of an item that just went on sale. They then issued me a store credit card that can't even be used online (big hassle). So a few months ago, I find myself in the neighborhood again, and pop in and try to purchase something. I didn't have the store credit card with me and I asked them to check the computer using my ID and credit card to pull up the store credit. Nope. These idiots couldn't even do that. In the year 2015. Which brings me to the attitude issue so many others have mentioned. These guys are unhelpful douchebags with big time attitude. One guy actually started arguing with me because I didn't like the color of a pair of sneakers. I'm gonna eat the store credit and never set foot in that place again. I suggest you do the same. Take your business to Theory, APC, Barney's, Vince, Rag and Bone, Sandro or any of the hundreds of other places that have better style, better quality and actually understand customer service. Okay your coffee is pretty good but what you've failed to realize is that true surfers hate kooks the most!!! This is more of a lifestyle brand and less of a surf shop. This place screams poser!! At least try harder at being a surf shop.. There are tons of real surfers in New York and not just people trying to look the part. Think of all the business you are losing out on without the surf shop part of the surf shop.. Or at least open up a second store that's a diehard surf shop closer to say Rockaway or Montauk and keep this location for show. I get your target market but don't distance yourself from real surfers. read more

Like Adrien B., I have found the quality of their product to be lacking. I bought a swimsuit which ripped when I put my hand in the pocket. Not on the seam which could be sewed up, but rather the fabric itself about an inch in length. Granted the shorts ripped after the store's 15 day return window had passed, but a) I only wanted an exchange and b) the product was defective. Not only did the clerk definitively say no, he did so quite rudely and told me I could come back when his manager was there if I wanted (I visited the Perry St location on Thurs Jan 25 at 10a). Simply put, while the merchandise looks great on the shelves and/or online, it's trash and management knows it, hence the nuts return policy. I guess the silver lining to the whole experience is that I didn't buy the $115 sweatshirt I had simultaneously walked in there to buy. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It has an awesome location in the village, looks cool from the outside and plus the concept of a surf store that sells coffee is pretty cool. The problem is, I wasn't looking for coffee - I was actually interested in checking out the gear. I was SHOCKED at how poor the customer service was. I walked in this weekend with a friend and there were 2 guys working behind the counter. They didn't even look up when we walked in - no one was behind the coffee counter, so it is a good thing we didn't want coffee. We started looking at surf boards and at some of the clothing. In all of 10 minutes, neither of the employees even acknowledged our presence. I care about customers service, but I am pretty laid back overall. This was easily one of the top 3 most disappointing customer experiences in the city. It is such a shame, because they could have gotten a 4 or 5 star review if they just hired people who were mature enough to care or trained them to acknowledge potential customers, let alone put them first. There are better coffee shops in the city and undoubtedly better places to get surfboards or clothing. Willing to stop back by again to see if it was a fluke, but definitely rubbed me the wrong way. read more

I used to come here several times a week for coffee but the guy who makes the coffee now is so unfriendly -- no smile, no hello, no thank you, and very sullen as he makes the coffee and slings it across the corner -- that it's very uncomfortable so I hardly ever come here any more. I have never surfed in my life and do not intend to start now. And, judging from these reviews, I would most likely not buy my surf gear here if I decided to take the plunge. But these three stars are for the fact that they serve La Colombe coffee. I get just an iced coffee and it is delicious! Strong, but not bitter or sour. And I don't have to wait in line like I would at the actual La Colombe in Soho. So, yes, I reviewed a surf shop entirely on their coffee. read more

This place has the best clothes and coffee in the city. Being a local I am here everyday. Steve's coffee is the best espresso in the city, no question. The staff in the shop are awesome. The clothes are great too. Stylish yet casual and very wearable. Everyone here is friendly, welcoming and love a little chat. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient in their efforts to get what I needed.
