Is Y3 on the comeback trail? Dropped in this week and seriously impressed with their knitwear, sneakers and bags... I've moved over to margiela last few years but have to say thought some of their pieces were outstanding, particularly their more subtle pants, hoodies and jackets. A seemingly mature approach has descended into the brand after a few years (for me anyway) of shying away of their over logo' clothing and sneakers. read more

DESIGN: The feel and cut of t-shirts and tops, amazing. Like butter. Yamamoto has the ingenious instinct of fusing fashion with a hint of sport. Casual, comfortable and creative. The three C's. The shoe designs are innovative and edgy. All shoes were located in the lower level. Loved the color combinations and cuts on the shoes...although I have to say the women's shoes are a bit too overworked for my taste. SERVICE: The guys working here are really nice and very helpful. Very attentive to attend you with additional sizes or any needs. They give you your shopping space, but are still in the same area to attend to your needs or concerns. read more

Why? Y-3! I browsed the SoHo store on three different occasions and couldn't stop thinking about the sporty red shoes I saw. I imagined so many outfits that would go great with them. Finally, today I caved and splurged! I love the line..its cool, its casual, its comfortable but its pricey. Y-3 is definitely a fusion between sport and fashion. I doubt I would buy any apparel at regular price (my pocketbook can't handle it) but I will visit the store when I'm in the area. I like to browse. The guys there are super laid back and quite funny. Let me start by saying Yohji Yamamoto is a genius. His designs are cutting-edge and expensive but wearable and classic enough to justify spending the money. The collaboration with Adidas allows those of us who are still waiting for our 6-figure salary to be able to afford some of his great products. I am sad that there is no Y-3 boutique in Boston however my bank account is elated since I would surely spend far more than I should if it was easily accessible. This store has a good selection of men's clothes/accessories. They also have some sneakers but I didn't look too much at those since that is one of the few items of his that I can actually find in Boston (and online). Over the weekend, on a NYC shopping trip with a friend, I stopped in and bought the cutest belt ever (very nice quality black leather with a strip of electric blue leather on one side and a logo that is noticeable but not overly showy). The fact that it was 30% off ($120 down to $84) made the purchase easier to make as an impulse buy but the superb customer service sealed the deal. All of the staff was friendly and hip but Satoru was absolutely wonderful. He took the time to chat with me and provided good service even though I was only buying a belt. I did not feel rushed or pressured at all; he even suggested a store in Boston that, unbeknownst to me, carries Yamamoto's higher priced collection. The whole experience was casual and fun; what a day of shopping should be. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Soho. Horrible customer service. Their low-top sneakers don't fit the heel well, cuts into the heel, and causes bleeding. At their price points, this just isn't acceptable. The person near the cashier station refused to offer me a refund when I told him that their sneakers made my heel bleed. He basically blamed me for the bleeding and suggested that I get bandages for my heels! Woah. Yes, you read that correctly. He was relentless in not offering me a refund for a defective pair of sneakers. I've moved on and have bought sneakers at other places, namely Common Projects, Adidas Stan Smiths and Superstars. None of these low-top sneakers make my heels BLEED like the Y-3 sneakers did. Stay away from this trash establishment. They will dupe you and then enforce some new b.s. store policy against you, making themselves seem utterly desperate to make and keep a sale. read more

What do you get when you combine Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto? You get the beast known as Y-3. From crazy shoes, to posh workout gear, to just flat out great clothing, Y-3 has it all. Kind of disappointed that this place is low on the square footage, but they do a good job utilizing what they have. If you're coming here expecting Adidas prices, HAH! You might as well just turn around now. Expect to drop $300 for a hooded sweatshirt, $250 for sneakers, etc. This spot is tucked away midway on Green St, between Spring and Prince. If if means anything, its right across from Bape. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by a small display on the left side. They tend to showcase their base color stuff like backpacks, shoes, and misc accessories. Towards the middle and back is where you'll find the bulk of the goods. It's expensive, but as the old adage goes "you get what you pay for." It may be a little overdoing it by wearing Y-3 to the gym, but hey, they have nice gear. If you're looking for other premier Adidas gear, then there's the Adidas SLVR shop a couple blocks away. For me, I'll stick to my Y-3. read more

LOVE me some Y-3 and was able to purchase a pair of Kanja's from here that I receive many compliments on, now being back home! Kind of a bummer that we don't have a store like this where I'm from. The staff that greeted us upon entering also helped me find the shoe I came in to buy. Their services were very professional, friendly, and made my experience here that much better. They only have two locations on the east coast as of this review (NY and Miami) so when I was in NY and happen to stumble upon this location, I had to stop in a check it out. The overall setup was very clean and staff was very friendly. Wide selection of their line of shoes and clothes. Prices are up there but worth it to check out if you follow Yohji Yamamoto's creations. read more

Store managers can behave as if desperate to stay in business, willing to treat customers duplicitously, change store policy AFTER a sale and mid-transactions, and willing to embarrass sincere, attentive store clerks by rendering them powerless to intervene. read more

Yo, I went back for their summer sale and it kicked ass!!! I picked up a bunch of fresh tees and shorts to rock it till Labor Day. The staff is still so cool and keep it real. You can't not love a store playing Stevie Wonder with the staff and people shopping in there all singing along to I Just Called To Say I Love You! Dang!!! The salesperson helping me took me downstairs and showed me all the new stuff that came in and even went through the new lookbook with me. They got some nice hats in already but it's too hot to be buying a wool hat now. I can't wait until they get in all the new kicks for the Fall and Winter cuz they got some dope ones coming in at the end of July and I'm gonna be back to gets me some. read more

The sales staff here is phenomenal. Everyone here is always friendly to you and always willing to help you with something. As for the clothes itself, Yamamoto has done a great job on. The kicks are much better than Raf Simons or Rick Owens, in my opinion. The store is neatly designed, and there's a rack with 50% off clothing (huge discount on the $1,500 bomber if anyone wants it). read more
