Wow!!! I was so nervous because this was my first time buying a leather jacket and I was going to shell out some cold hard cash, so I needed the best one. I walked into the store and tried on a few, then the best dude, Chuck, walks in and helps guide me on the best size. I opted to customize mine online and he nailed it. Whew, I can stop sweating now. Sorry, I sweat a lot. But! He really helped me out, added a custom lining inside that wasn't available on the customizer online and listens to my every need. This was such a smooth and easy process. Also, Chuck is really a great dude. Very very nice, friendly, has cool teeth, what a guy. He definitely lives and breathes this stuff and I'm happy to have been able to support the biz and help keep it running By the way, if anyone is curious, I paid a little over $1,000 for my jacket and it'll definitely outlive me. The workmanship is amazing and the pockets are so soft. It is an expensive investment but will definitely be the clothing item you pass down through your family for generations! The Cast has been in it's new location for awhile now and who knew it would be the best move for them! The space is at the back of the very famous, skull signature jewelry shop, The Great Frog. It's like a sea of temptation at this space. I recently attended the Godlis book signing event!! Yes, famous photographer and documentarian of one of NY best musical bubble, 70's PUNK. I was not going to miss the event. I arrived early. I can't help but eaves drop for morsels of life during that time in NY. Godlis even knows people that are in the background of his photos or watching live shows. He captured the essence of an era and the title of the book sums it up "history is made at night"! Very true in a city that never sleeps! The Cast is today's punk rock attire staple in the appropriate Lower East Side! The shop owners, husband and wife Chuck and Elisa are NY's best looking, fashionable and nicest couple you'll ever meet. And if you are lucky you get to see their two little girls, Mickey and Johnnie! I will warn you that these girls WILL STEAL your HEART! Back to Godlis! I heard not only morsels about the era but also about a 3 piece, all girl Japanese band called the Romaines! Everything is sand in Japanese expect the chorus! The shop itself is covered in uniquely designed t-shirts, taxidermy, photography, records, pants, Crap Eyewear shades, and also buttons and tshirts from local artist James Concannon (I'm a huge fan of his art and a sucker for the large buttons, bought the "cry me, River Phoenix"and his signature skull style "Dean Moon") and as I've mentioned before this is the place to find Ah-LEATHER jackets!!! Custom and vintage!! People come from all over for their jackets and rightfully so. The new shirt designs are incredible! I will definitely be returning for one soon. Brandon Ngai designed the bitch club one and it's a must. They have also stocked up, Cast t-shirts, totes and hankies. I can't wait! And to my surprise they have the patio open. They were playing Godlis footage in the back while people enjoyed free PBR (their sponsor) and smoked cancer sticks. A little bird told me there might be some upcoming shows! Can't wait! I loved this place! Chuck and his pup Bill are super welcoming and happy to help. No pressure at all and made for a really fun experience. I was happy to support a small business during the pandemic. I am spattered with generic band logos as tattoos, so over dinner one night, I realized it was very weird I didn't own a Misfits shirt. Stopped in because a jerk I have a crush on knows the owners. Nicest people with the cutest baby EVER. Grabbed a vintage-y tiny black tank top with my friend the Fiend skull screened at just the right spot on the chest, and as I was paying found a Cramps button. (Which I also thought strange my poser ass didnt already own one...) Anyways, I've never owned a leather jacket but I feel like if one doesn't drop out of the sky into my lap by the time it gets cold again, I might have to make it a real special experience and have them make me a custom one here. First of all, this place seems to be owned/run by a married couple - AND THEY ARE GORGEOUS. Like, model gorgeous but you know they're not models. They have a toddler daughter who is literally too cute for words. She kept talking about how she had to pee haha. Anyway, this little hole in the wall shop is just great. All the grungey-punk clothing you want but in a more commercial format for the most part. From jeans to tee shirts, vintage goods to sunglasses, leather jackets to Sex Pistols and David Bowie pins, this shop has something for EVERYONE, man, woman alike. Oh - and they have a website, one which is actually updated frequently! Further, the ambience is perfect, with exposed brick, exposed pipes, and peeling paint, all decorated with signage pertaining to various grunge groups. It's easy to miss because the sign is small but once you know it's there, it will definitely become a favorite haunt. Everything about this place just works. Forty-some years ago: a wispy Euro-punkette mesmerized by NYC, riding the punk Zeitgeist, searching out all the bands... Earlier today: the same person, ridiculously sporting a grocery bag and plastic bathroom slippers (it was raining cats and dogs today in NYC, and the said slippers were the only footwear the weary senior feet would accept under such conditions), yet unable to resist the urge to enter Chuck's high-end clothing store with the sole purpose of searching out the name of a cool young band overheard yesterday during street performance in front of the store. Chuck graciously and enthusiastically provided the info (the band is Damn Jackals, the talented vocalist in fact works in Chuck's boutique!), as well as a quick overview of his business, as I stood dripping rainwater on his floor, caught in a forty+ year time warp... Anyway, besides providing an additional attestation of Chuck being a great guy, I'd like to say that his leather jackets are to contemporary sense of cool style what punk riffs are to the sound of contemporary rock. Most of the Dolls, all of the Ramones, and all those gorgeous young things I used to know who were mowed down by a horrible disease with no cure in the early 1980s, wear the same jackets up in Heaven that only Chuck can offer you here on this Earth. They have a special ingredient of NYC punk soul that you can't find anywhere else. read more

These people are true artisans! And serious about quality. I had a custom leather jacket for a man who stands 6'8". It fits him perfectly! (With only one fitting.)The leather is soft and supple. The hardware top drawer. The jacket has an unusual added personal touch designed by the recipient on the sleeves. Designing your own, is part of the beauty of having something custom made! Everyone in the shop is friendly and helpful. All communication was quickly responded too. The price of the jacket while not inexpensive, was within reach of an average person.:) Very worth the price! And, yes I did check with other custom leather shops. The Cast is the BEST. read more

This store cool and the owners are very nice. I bought a motorcycle jacket, it was pricey, but the leather is really nice, thick and soft. I think they have them made by someone in NYC. I get a lot of compliments on it, I'm sure it will last forever. I like the idea of breaking in that type of jacket, how many things can you buy these days that aren't disposable and you get to enjoy breaking them in? Not many. read more

Badass little shop, passed by on the way to Occulter (they said hey!) and had to go in. Glad I did 'cause I found the perfect pair of vintage white jeans. This place is run by a sweet couple with an adorable little babe and the most endearing shop dog. While I was there someone was ordering a made to fit leather jacket - they have different materials for you to choose from and will alter it to your specs. I wanted a biker jacket and I'm really glad I heard about The Cast. They had the perfect style and it fit like it was made for me. The jackets at Schott were cut a little too loosely for me, but the ones at The Cast felt tailored. (I'm 6 feet, 175 lbs.) Chuck (who is a great guy) and his wife are the punk equivalent of that in NYC. They make custom-made badass leather jackets that can easily cause jealousy among top notch designers. They also sell leather hoodies, accessories and incredible t-shirts that Chuck is willing to modify to your taste. The store has some cool oddities like taxidermy and pocket sized mirrors of Elvis, what else can you ask for? They also have a small but wisely chosen selection of punk vintage clothes. They have an amazing dog at the store that makes you want to cuddle it for hours. read more
