I am a huge fan of Rick Owen's. Just great unique fashion guru to me. However. I am far from Adam of this store. Where do i begin ?!?!? Let's start with positive. Store is clean. Bright. Clothes displayed in very functional manner. By which i mean. You can easily see what it looks like as there are not too many pieces on a rack. Also. Similar Colors are hung on the same rack. So. If you trying to match or just like his fabric choice. It's easy to coordinate. Shoes displayed each on its own shelf. Dressing rooms are very creative and fabulous. I am in love with the store. And products. Pictures attached. The negative. Which i hate to bring up. However. Biggest minus to this store IS employees. They are very snobby. You wait for a long time to get in. Then you get in, you hardly greeted with a smile. The sales guy did give me shoes to try on. But was so cold and not involved. I couldn't wait to get lit. I felt like i was 2 nd class citizen. Bought a shirt online for $1750 and they sent me the wrong size. Had to contact them and send photos of all the tags before they would give me a return authorization to return it. I sent all the photos and all the tags intact. I literally put it on, was too tight and I took it off. I checked the labels and saw they sent me a L instead of an XL. They refused to return it, claimed they had a "video" of the item being packed and it was the correct size. I asked to see the "video" and they refused. On top of that, im dealing with people in Italy so the time difference is an issue too. This is the most ridiculous situation I've ever been in. I have no way to handle this as they are in Italy and refusing to return it for my correct size. Guess I'll call American Express and dispute it. I've never seen such horrible service. To think I paid almost $2,000 for a shirt, I expect more. read more

Amazing. So happy that a Rick store was finally opened in NY (it's operated by the Atelier folks) to offer much more of the range than what Atelier previously had and then the small buys at Barneys and Jeffery. The smoke wall is amazing, the only downside to the place is the location in "West SoHo" is still kind of off the beaten path. But, with Atelier there and being so remote they know that if you go, you're going there for a purpose and not randomly stumbling upon it. The staff may seem standoffish; but, they are for the most part great. read more

I LOVE this store... I could come here just to listen to the amazing minimal tracks on the speaker system. I guess I'm also heavily biased from being totally into the clothes and the black minimal aesthetics, but even if you're not, just touch it. Feel the the softness of the fabric. Even if you don't care about fashion in any sense, this is just so comfortable... While you're in the 'hood you should of course also check out the new location of Atelier, the Thom Browne store and walk those last blocks down to the Number (N)ine store... This deceptively minimalist boutique is rich on subtle details; just like the apparel! -A forrest of tall and intimidating zipper-slashed wedge boots stand at rapt attention by the doorway. -A blackened skull and antler stand guard over soft nests of scarves on the accessory display table. -Behind the registers, puffs of smoke float in stark contrast against a black backdrop. -Every purchase is lovingly paper-wrapped and packed in a unique, gable-shaped bag that looks like it could beat up your Victoria Secret bag at lunch. This store has such lovely staff. A beautiful woman helped me today who was incredibly knowledgable, professional, and not pushy. I will definitely come back to buy more 'investment pieces' here. They have great leather and his collections are timeless. I must say the Paris boutique is much more beautiful, but I am sure that is because it is the main store. The sales crew this store has boggles my mind. Recently I inquired about an item that one of the crew said they would ship to this store from LA. I called later to check the status of the transfer I was assured by another of this crew that the transaction was complete. I receive a call a day later from another of this crew saying that the shipment never happened but they had the item that I had been told they didn't have. I explicitly described the item and was told they would hold it. I rushed to the store and witnessed this member of the crew lie to me showing a spring item that was not the item I was told was being held. Pretty sure that they either sold the item before I got there or was told this story to lure me in to purchase this other item. Wow - shame on you Rick Owens crew. Is this how a high-end designer sells luxury goods? These luxury goods no longer look so luxurious. read more

Wow! You would think that a brand that is so irrelevant would be at least (at least) fall back on the luxury shopping ideals of being mildly polite to its nearly extinct customer base. You would think... I went with my boyfriend and a friend, with the intention of shopping, which is to say exchange money for 'goods' or services. What happened... I opened the door, 10 mins to close, and was struck by a voice screamed 'CLOSED!' We said, i"it's not yet 7' to which she reiterated her previous sentiment, 'CLOSED!' And that was that. You would think, as we were the only other humans she had seen all day, that made the journey ALL THE WAY over to that store to aid in paying her salary, she might be ever so slightly accommodating. You would think she might even be grateful, not only to make a commission, but to see and converse with other humans, you would think. You might also think, that as she has just spent 8 or so odd hours, inhabiting the utterly vestigial arm of gothic fashion, alone, she might at the very least be pleasant. If you think any of these things you would be wrong. Avoid this store like a plague era morgue and if you need a Rick Owens fix, I'm sure you can pick it up for a song on Ebay. I am not usually writing reviews, but after reading a previous one I needed to say something. I was christmas shopping at the Rick Owens Boutique on Friday the 29th, and was in the Boutique from 6:30 to 7:15pm. I didn't hear anyone scream :"CLOSE"... Well, anyway, the staff was really charming and gave me all the help I needed. I didn't feel rushed even though I knew they were doing extra time in the shop. I, therefore, highly recommend visiting the boutique if you are a fan of Rick Owens... And if you don't know his work yet, please, by all mean: go and see for yourself how great his clothes are! read more

This location is the absolute WORST. I called the store before actually going to make sure that they have the item in stock. I spoke with someone on the phone and he stated the item was in stock in the size that I needed, I then went ahead and told him I will be there shortly. I drove all the way from Jersey to the Manhattan. When I arrived to the store, the customer service was HORRIBLE! No one greeted you or even acknowledged that you entered the store. I asked one of the workers if she was able to help me and she stared at me as if I was a headless horseman. I asked again "Hi are you able to help me?" She then slowly walked over to me as if she didn't want to be bothered. I asked if the item I wanted was available for me to purchase in a size 37. She went ahead and told me that the item was not available in any sizes. What's frustrating is not only did the person on the phone LIE about an item being in stock but the customer service in that store is horrible. I honestly will never step foot in that store ever again. I will wait until I'm in Miami or another state. I wish I was able to give no stars read more

I dunno. I thought the store and the staff were great. I wasn't wearing any Rick Owens stuff; just jeans and an h&m jacket. I recently got the bug to get one of his jackets and ran into the store while walking down the street. It was my first time in the store and the woman who helped me was very helpful to explain where everything was and also helped me try on some jackets that might fit me (I was concerned that my arms are NOT as skinny as they used to be as I have been lifting weights). The area is a little off main shopping drags, but then again - who wants to be in Soho w/ a thousand people other shoppers? My other favorites Comme des Garconnes, Balenciaga are also off the main drag, but those are a chance to visit the galleries. In this case, I guess one can visit the Holland Tunnel. read more

I stopped by the store as I wanted to pick up a jacket for my wife. However their stock was minimal at best. The jacket was already available at Kirna Zabete, net-a-porter.com, etc but not here. Also, the sales person was less than helpful when I inquired whether they would be getting the jacket and which colors. Let's see... bad service, NY sales tax, and an ungodly trek to West Soho. I think I'll keep my RO purchases to the web and consider this excursion as a once in a lifetime experience. read more

Nice! Expensive and worth every penny. Ive gotten over my rick stage but will say, if youre into the expensive goth look, this is your place. Theres a super attractive guy who works there if you want eye candy. Back in the beginning, they had a salesman/woman in full geisha wear. How amazing to see performance art when you shop. Every rick leather i have has aged beautifully. My last purchase was the angel coat. I feel so amazing when i wear that piece. I live a bicoastal life and thank god i can wear these "outfits" in nyc. read more

The only place to start your search for an amazing Rick Owens item is at their boutique in West Soho. Other stores in the city carry their items but none of their selections will be as comprehensive as at the boutique. The store is lined with the full men's, women's and footwear collections from the current season and true to the RO style is extremely modern and minimal. Yes, Rick Owens is off of the beaten shopping path, but this actually works in its favor. People going to RO are intentionally seeking it out which means you avoid the masses usually traveling down the main area of Soho around Broadway, Mercer and Prince Streets. It also makes for a more relaxed shopping atmosphere. When I was there, there was only one other customer in the store. The store is of course extremely expensive, but unlike typical ultra high-end boutiques in the city which may have snobby, and overbearing salespeople, Rick Owen's has some of the most low-key, helpful and beautiful staff anywhere in NYC. I worked with a woman who helped me try on two jackets I liked and when (unfortunately for me) they were sold out of the jacket I wanted in my size, she suggested a number of other boutiques in the city I could try. Also, it's worth it to note that I was offered a bottle of water as soon as I walked in the door, before it was even evident I was interested in buying something. Overall 10/10. The place was a shopping paradise that left me drooling over every item and the staff was amazing. Look forward to going back right when the next season drops so that I am sure they'll have my size in stock!! read more

Rick Owens brand boasts a small yet highly devoted team which is verifiable as well by the operation of this Howard Street location. The dedicated and communicative team of this space proved very helpful in locating a FW1718 Men's coat which was not on premises (at that time). The coat, found in the brand's Miami shop, was shipped swiftly to New York for an in-store purchase of whose experience was very painless and ultimately pleasurable. read more

Rick Owens is so deep. I loved the design of the NYC store, especially the smoke curling up behind the glass at the counter. They also try to have more of the unique items rather than the classics you'd find at say Barneys. I was helped by Shelley, who not only had a great sense of style but was really nice and helpful, suggesting items and how she'd wear them. read more

Stunning retail space filled with equally stunning garments for men and women alike. While the clothes remain extremely expensive, even on sale, there is no other brand I would rather support. Also, while the staff has changed over the years, I have never once had an unfriendly visit. Being in the space really completes your understanding of his aesthetic. A must see! read more

Rick Owens: 2009 The clothes themselves look like they came out of some post-apocalyptic, underground tomb - but I think that bizarre deconstruction is so right for now. "Recession fashion" ? I love things that look unfinished and tired and worn - Owens is so brooding and ascetic. Every collection, though retaining a consistent color palette and theme, is really a self-reflexive exercise in wonder. I love his obscure selection of models and his NOTED rejection of self-promotion. He recently told NY-MAG's Amy Odell that he doesn't even have a press office. He didn't even do fashion shows when he was based in L.A. He told Tim Blanks that they were 'way over the top and way too ostentatious.' The store really reflects Owens's attitude. I love the way he cuts leather into these harness jackets...and the fact that he'll allow jean bottoms and boot zippers to just drag on the floor. It's almost punk-rock but it's too glamorous to be punk rock. It's just really raw and organic. I really love how a sweater isn't just a sweater but this long, draping voluminous frock that you could probably use as a blanket. Owens is just too cool for school. I also really have an appreciation for the utilitarian, monochromatic silhouette he's established over the years - and the fact that he carried over his like of neutral palette into the store. It's not really graphic - just very somber but so confidently put together. Moody without the actual angst. I just wish there was more color in the current spring inventory. In 2004, his fall collection boasted a pretty neutral palette but he used a "Windex" color that screamed optimism. The staff are really nice - they all look like androgynous punk rockers...haha. The clothes are reasonable (and by reasonable I mean they don't come with Tom Ford price-tags)...but a jacket cut in distressed sherling and leather could potentially make the good old Visa cringe. Try not to be distracted by the steel-and-glass walls and of course the 100 foot smoke screens. ....mesmerizing. read more
