Went into uncle Funky's boars shop for a regular skateboard since the long board I've used over the last week to enjoy Manhattan may be limited and i wanted a new experience. Once inside, a friend and me were reminded to wear our masks (both another costumer us) we oblige. In response earlier i pulled out my document to Help reduce the shopkeepers anxiety, to be of help, the older man wasn't a gentleman. He told each of everyone one of the current customers in the shop about that he didn't care and that's he's there 8 hours a day we are only there for 5. While i was easily ready to spend the $500 to support a local board shop the customer service sends me back to the chain stores. I didn't want to but that was a very bad experience with an upset person whom should probably not be around others at this time in his life read more

Very Covid-19 compliant, highly prioritizing the CDC guidelines over anything else. Quick service, with knowledgeable staff that are ready to help. They helped me with replacing the bearings on my 11 year old Bustin. Came back in a couple weeks later with a new set of tires from Bustin (to replace the 11 year old ones), and I was told that they normally don't change tires that aren't bought at the store. I asked nicely and even offered to compensate the guy for his time, and luckily they were able to help me. $10 later, I also decided i should buy the tool to do the job myself the next time, so they also sold me one for $6. Organized, clean shop in the beautiful West Village. If you're in the area and need help with your board, look no further. read more

He was teaching me what type of board and size would suit me the best as somewhat of a beginner and for my height. Not a fan of this place. Took a $20 taxi ride across town to buy a skate board for my 11 year old daughter and myself. But apparently you can only stand on the boards on a small carpet and can't actually roll on them at all, even though the shop was empty. Total waste of my time... In contrast to this experience, we had gone to Paragon Sports in Union Square earlier in the day and the staff there in the skateboard section downstairs couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Paragon even has helmets for kids to use while trying out the boards. read more

It's a true local shop. I met Kristin and she was very cool. Their selection is huge. They deal only in longboards and the place is floor to ceiling with them. This mom & pops (but for cool kids) shop is right at the intersection, but you'll easily walk past it if you don't notice the sign and the stairs to the basement level.
