Friendliest crew ever! I needed a place to store my board since I live in the city and thankfully the owner had room for me. Hot showers, board rentals, and a ton of surf items and merch for purchase. I would recommend this place over boarders. Thanks guys!

This place is awesome! It's just two blocks from the A train/shuttle stop and skate-able distance from the ferry. Everyone in there is super friendly and makes me feel like I am apart of something more than just a customer checking out. The lockers and changing rooms are super helpful. They have coconut water and healthy granola bars to buy in the fridge. They have a great selection of skateboard wheels, trucks, decks and grip. I mainly buy skate stuff there but also have rented a wetsuit/surfboard a couple times. They also offer lessons and ding repair which is sick. I got a good deal on some adidas skate shoes during their spring shoe sale. The other surf shops in the area seem dead but there is a sense of life and soul as soon as you enter this shop.

I went here when visiting NY from CA and this is a great spot to store some gear! They have lockers and showers! Also pretty cool people working the store, good spot.

I needed some surf boards for a presentation and after calling every surf shop in Rockaway, Station RBNY saved the day! Nigel was great to work with and was so gracious to send me several photos of the boards. The boards are in my presentation room right now and they look amazing! I would definitely recommend Station RBNY for all your board rental needs!

I love this shop. Everyone treats you like a friend. The owner, Nigel, is very knowledgeable and will support you in your surfing emdeavours with tips and encouragement. Always sunny. The board lockers are clean and the showers warm. They have a wide range of boards for rent. Feels more like you're being welcomed into a friend's house than a commercial establishment.

Between decks, wheels, trucks, shoes, and clothes, I think you could find anything you wanted. I guess the thing to remember is that it isn't Walmart. You're going to pay more to get more. The owner goes on trips to determine what will best suit his customers. He seemed really reasonable (we had quite a chat), especially with the advice he was giving to someone who had never skated in her life. It wasn't about selling her $200 worth of gear that she would hate in 5 minutes. He tried to see what she wanted to do, and talked her through natural learning steps to get there. I think a lot of shops don't care. They just want to sell gear. It's kind of like one of those corny movies with the get-rich-quick team and the soul skaters/surfers who just care about the ride. This dude cares about the ride. Getting there is half the fun, correct? Parking is abundant off the main road, 2 hours at a time, which is better than most towns around here.

At no point should bolts randomly fling off your bike while you going down the Brooklyn bridge going 24mph. I'm a high school student and I had to pay for my bike with my own money. I've been working since 10th grade to help my mom because she is a single parent so for me the loss of about 5k including repairs leave me without transportation as I can not afford to repair it at this point. I've spent 3.7k on a bike, this isn't including the repairs i had to pay over the span of a year which amount to at least 1.4k+ after random bolts detaching and motor failing, and as soon as the warranty expired my bike had a random electrical issue where the bike wouldn't accelerate. From the owner Pete: OK, where are you going? (Direct email sent from owner) 1- Last Mile NYC replaces all of the electronics on your bike. The cost of the parts and labor is $2910.54 2- Send your bike back to Super73. They will do their own diagnosis, and determine the issues and fix the problems. Unfortunately your bike is not under warranty, the cost of packing up and freighting your bike to and from Super73 will be around $1200. Plus their diagnostic fee, parts and labor. Locals Collective is such a sweet l'il cafe. The vibe is relaxed and lovely, with friendly, helpful staff (especially the woman wearing the ramen cat shirt, whose name I didn't get, unfortunately). The menu is small, but includes some healthy options like the breakfast sammy (with two eggs, avocado, sprouts, tomato, Monterey Jack cheese, and spicy aioli on whole grain toast), acai bowls, wraps, overnight oats and that sort of thing. The breakfast sandwich wasn't very big -- or rather it was a normal size, well filled, but made with commercially standard-size sliced bread, not a hero, sub, or roll -- and was perhaps a touch spendy at $12. The Progeny inhaled the sandwich after snarfing down a sushi roll we'd brought -- and still wanted two large protein bars, after. (I guess surfing cultivates a good appetite.) He said he enjoyed it, though. My iced coffee was a touch weak, but serviceable. There's pleasant seating indoors and out, with a few folks working on laptops. There are quite a few dining options on this particular block, including burritos, pizza, ice cream, and a few full-service restaurants -- but in terms of aesthetics and overall look-feel, Locals Collective takes the win. Surf boards (I think soft tops only) are available for rent at Locals Collective, for $35 / 2 hours. Prices are a bit higher than at Breakwater Surf, which rents for a jaw droppingly low price of $5 an hour -- but Locals does offer additional amenities like changing rooms and a shower, which I'm prima-donna enough to think is worth it. You can also rent a wet suit, which you'll probably want if the air temp is anything cooler than 75F. Waves at Beach 68 are fairly small, but reportedly consistent. We'll be back for more, I'm sure.
