One of the best all-around surf shops that I have been to. Very accommodating, and down to earth. They take their time to tell you everything you need to know about each board that you're looking for. I especially like the fact that they don't try to rush you or push anything onto you. They have a good selection of short boards, fish boards, fun shapes and long boards. They also have wet suits, apparel and even do rentals. You can also rent out a locker and walk right to the beach from the shop, which is only 2 short blocks away. The prices are very reasonable, and I'll definitely come back to get my next board. Honestly I can't even believe how good my experience with this shop has been. What they provide is beyond service - it's guidance, bordering on friendship. Going to a new surf spot can always be a little challenging. Surfers are often territorial. Nigel put me right at ease with his knowledge and suggestions. This place is awesome! It's just two blocks from the A train/shuttle stop and skate-able distance from the ferry. Everyone in there is super friendly and makes me feel like I am apart of something more than just a customer checking out. The lockers and changing rooms are super helpful. They have coconut water and healthy granola bars to buy in the fridge. They have a great selection of skateboard wheels, trucks, decks and grip. I mainly buy skate stuff there but also have rented a wetsuit/surfboard a couple times. They also offer lessons and ding repair which is sick. I got a good deal on some adidas skate shoes during their spring shoe sale. The other surf shops in the area seem dead but there is a sense of life and soul as soon as you enter this shop. read more

I've been a locker resident for about six months and I love the people here. Nigel is always so friendly and helpful. The shop is small but they've got everything one would need, including a relatively small but very good quiver of boards for sale including a large collection of good used boards wetsuits, leashes, wax, traction pads, etc. A good part of their business during the summer is board rentals so it's pretty busy during summer weekends but there is always enough space to get to my locker. They also do good PU and epoxy repairs. And last but not least , they're involved in the community. They have some great young men and women who just starting to surf who do a good job running the shop. read more

Ridiculously nice shop. No pressure and genuinely have a love of skate and surf boarding. We rented a weekend bungalow and forgot my sons helmet. Went to their shop with the intention of buying one. Instead they told me they don't sell any but I could borrow one. Is this New York??? Also learned they have surf board share lockers. I'm more familiar with the rental shops by 68 beach but it's a bit far when's your in the 90s. So glad to run into this shop. read more

I bought an expensive watch for my dad on his birthday from here and before I bought it I asked if they had links to make it bigger in case it didnt fit and they told me yes. So turned out that the watch was too small and needed a link. This was over a month ago that this happened and I brought the watch back. I was told it would take about a week for them to put it on and it has been over a month long saga. They never called to check in and let me know what was up and I am done with this. This is a really great shop. Employees are friendly and always willing to help with whatever you need. They keep up with the latest in apparel and gear and if there is anything specific you need they can try to get it for you no problem. They provide surf lessons and rentals and are located right in the heart of all the action in Rockaway. It is so nice to be so close to all the restaurants and bars after a surf rental with them.
