She was fitted for a size 1 ice skate and I was hesitant because I had just sized up her sneakers to 2s. I was assured there was plenty of room and deferred to them on it. Of course a month later she was complaining about them being too small. We came back to Peck's and they exchanged them for 2s and only subtracted $20 from the refund for her having worn them for a month. They had some scuffs and the insoles showed her feet print but they were otherwise in pristine condition. It was a better deal than I hoped for and I sincerely appreciate the accommodation of her growing feet. It goes to show how important customer service is because we will for sure be customers for life now (she really loves skating so it seems like we will stick with it, ha see what I did there?). When they told me they did I immediately when over there to see their selection. They have a very nice setup, neatly laid out. Very helpful, knowledgeable staff. Very good variety of the best brands. Chris helped me pick out a good board that would support my weight. (I had a similar issue when I was picking out snowboards) We had a long, awesome conversation about longboarding. He gave me a few beginner tips and let me futz around on the board in the store to see how I felt on it. They also told me they give one free lessons when you buy a complete and that they plan to give on-going paid lessons. These guys know what they are doing and they are the best, friendliest, place in the area. They are always getting in new decks, parts and completes, so make sure if you don't see something you need you can ask and they might be able to order it for you.

I won't go anywhere else now that various places in the city have given my friends and I poorly fitting skates and bad sharpenings that have sometimes irreparably damaged the blades. It's really not worth the risk to go somewhere that doesn't have a good reputation if you skate regularly and have good, expensive equipment. Mark is incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable about his work. His fittings are incredibly thorough and he's precise in his placement of blades. He noticed that my laces were unnecessarily long and handed me a new pair for no cost. Also, if you know what you need in advance, just call or email to make sure they have it in stock and if not, they'll order it for you. I don't dread doing the chore of getting my blades sharpened when it's at a place with good energy and customer support like this one. I would give Skater's Landing more than 5 stars if I could.

Mark knows skaters and our needs and I've never felt more at ease and in better hands in any skate shop in the area. The first time in June, I came with 2 friends and one of them got fitted for new boots and blades and me and my other friend both got ours sharpened. We were there all afternoon long, hanging out on the couch--frankly I don't know how we spent so long there, but the shop is pretty busy on weekends with sharpening and fitting appointments, so I definitely recommend calling or emailing before dropping in if you need a lot of attention. Recently, I went back to get properly fitted for boots as I'd never done that before and I was experiencing some pain in my toe box due to a slight bunion. Mark spent a lot of time sizing my feet and having me walk in possible contenders, simultaneously educating me and my skater friend about boots and blades. Mark graciously bandaged one of my heels that randomly started bleeding due to a blister caused by my stupid attempt to break in a new pair of Doc Martens a week and a half earlier. My friend and I walked out of there about 2 hours later praising Senpai Mark, and I got brand new boots that don't cramp my toes and fit me so much better, it's like walking on a cloud. So, if you are in need of new boots, blades, a skate sharpening, or any other figure skating gear, call or email Mark to schedule an appointment. My friends and I will continue to travel from NYC for the service and atmosphere. Cannot star enough times.

Located in this busy and quaint little town called Huntington Village, is The Board Shop located on…read morethe south side of Main St., selling primarily snowboards, skateboards, and surfboards. Walk in, and you will immediately notice that this place is pretty laid back. It felt very cozy and familiar. On the first floor are the snowboard goggles, sunglasses, boots, clothing, bathing suits and trunks. Near the back is a partitioned room where the skateboard shop is located selling decks, skateboard shoes, and gear. Upstairs is where the real goods are at: the snowboards, surfboards, wetsuits, and other swimming gear. Some items were on sale, women's bathing suits were slashed as much as ~60% off, down to as low as $20. Tees and T-Shirts were 2 for $18, snowboard goggles were 50%-60% off, boots were ~40% off. Beware that most sale items are CASH ONLY and NONREFUNDABLE. Why can't there be more core shops like this? As most know, the big box retail outlets (aka Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc.) have been gobbling them up with their big bank accounts and purchasing goods in bulk which gives them the ability to have big discounts on their items. It is nice to know that there are still a few small shops striving to survive through this large-to-mid corporation size market era. Support the small core shops!!
