I love being outdoors but unfortunately most of my friends don't and I never thought of going out on my own with a bunch of strangers until I came across a Groupon for DBA. I finally took the plunge and signed up and it was the best thing I ever did. Since March, I have gone on 4 more hikes and each one of them has been totally amazing experience. All the credit goes to Dave and his crew- they are excellent and the hikes are well planned. You don't have to worry about much because they do most of the work for you. Dave is an awesome guide and highly experienced. He is also extremely knowledgeable and his adventure stories keep us all entertained and laughing throughout the hikes. He is very passionate about what he does- it's just not a business for him and it clearly shows. This is something that I feel makes DBA unique and stand out amongst other similar companies. I attempted a tough hike and just when I thought I could not go any further, Dave and his crew continued to encourage me and it was a great feeling when I finally made it to the top and saw the amazing view. Along the way, I have also met some great people and feel like now I am a part of a community of lovely people that enjoy being outdoors. I'm no longer apprehensive of going on hikes, sans "friends", because Dave makes you feel like you are hiking with a good friend. I have learned so much from the hikes and from Dave and I would highly recommend DBA to anyone. They not only offer day hikes but also overnight as well as holistic adventures. They are great for day hikes to the Catskills or multi-day camping trips to the Andirondacks. If you can't have a car don't worry they will pick you up at designated spots in Brooklyn & Manhattan. Super cool guides with tons of knowledge about the environment. I just did a 5 day canoe portage camping trip in the St Regis lake area in the Andirondacks with them & it was awesome. Nothing like decompressing in nature.

I went to a few chain stores in downtown BK but they didn't carry the brand I was looking for. The last store I went to actually recommended Outlandish. I'd walked by Outlandish many times over the years and it hadn't dawned on me that the store specifically marketed as the be-all for things hiking should have been my first pick. With no more time to waste, I headed over and was thrilled when they not only had the brand I was looking for but offered personable, excellent customer service. He seemed not only very knowledgeable on hiking gear but genuinely invested in each customer's experience and trip. After trying on three pairs, I decided on a pair and some hiking socks on recommendation and I'm so happy with my purchase. I wore them around the next day to ease into them before the trip and they are so comfy and even look nice. So happy to have come across and supported this business and highly recommend.

After making the 65-minute trek to Bay Ridge, I can confidently say that Panda Sports deserves its unique status. The entire team is incredibly knowledgeable about the products they sell and passionate about their work. They maintain the classic family ski shop vibe found in New England ski towns, but with a uniquely Brooklyn personality. I had the pleasure of working with Duke. I brought in a pair of boots for retrofitting that were a full size too small. We had a straightforward conversation about the necessary augmentations for the boots and discussed the cost-to-success ratio. After two days of work, despite the odds not being in my favor, Duke managed to make enough room in my boot for a perfect fit (albeit a little snug, but that's to be expected). During those two days, it became clear to me that for the team at Panda Sports, this kind of work is a craft. This is a refreshing change from typical employees who are just working a job to sell you a product they aren't confident in. For as long as I stay in the city, wherever in the city that may be, when I need ski equipment, I will make that trek again. (My suggestion to any new patrons coming in, be honest with yourself and with them about your abilities and your knowledge. If you put your trust in them they will be very helpful)

Head to the website, book the date & time you want and you're done. www.watergapadventure.com/river-trips A few things worth noting: They offer multiple trip lengths. The standard 4-, 6- and 10-mile trip (Smithfield to Portland) are all booked generically and then when you get there you tell them what you want to do. All pricing is the same which believe me compared to others companies, that's very different - in a good way. They do offer two other longer trips but those require calls to the main office I assume to assess river conditions; your own competency and shuttle availability. The main office in Delaware Water Gap is very easy to find and there was plenty of parking on a quiet post-Labor Day Monday. You check in, you're handed a laminated map, life jacket and given a brief route explanation and then you're off in the van. One problem arose and it was kind of a PIA but it was worked around. Most companies have different types/sizes/models of kayaks and quite often, will ask you what you prefer. Not here. When we left the office, the guy driving didn't say a word to me until we get to Smithfield Beach to unload. He had a few kayaks pre-loaded in the carrier but definitely did not look at them before we left. One of them had a broken foot pedal that he said couldn't be used, another was very much designed for a smaller individual (i.e. if you're taller and/or taller & larger it ain't happening safely) which only left two tandem models. Using a tandem as a single individual is not the end of the world but especially when the seats are still left in the two person configuration (i.e. one front and one back versus the rear one being placed more towards the middle), it's a PIA to maneuver the craft and you are paddling harder to get the job done compared to a single. The scenery along the route was decent. You could see a bit of the Shawnee Resort and Golf Course, an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river, under and along 80 and then when you get into the Water Gap itself with the high cliff sides. Very picturesque. Once you go under the old train viaduct in Portland, you give the office a call for the shuttle to meet you at the out point which is at the Portland Pedestrian Bridge. The whole experience was about four hours door to door to cover the ten miles on the water plus the shuttle to & from the pick up and drop off points. Lots of nice scenery, due to the low water level there wasn't much in the way of current except for the area around viaduqt in Portland and even that wasn't bad. I'm not a big fan of the equipment here but I wouldn't let that deter me from coming back in the future for one of their northern longer trips.

I had mixed results here…read more They did improve my Trek overall, but I still had to take it to another shop afterward because the brakes were rubbing. On my Giant, they found a backwards jockey wheel, but I was also charged for derailleur adjustments multiple times and later learned the actual front shifting issue was a bent chainring. At one point it was suggested that I might not be shifting correctly, but the problem turned out to be mechanical. They also adjusted my saddle and stripped the bolt in the process. After multiple visits and additional issues, I lost confidence in the quality and completeness of the work.

Well it turned out not only did my nephew fish that day - we all got into it and had a great time. Their prices are as fair as they can be being online purchases from other sites are tough competition. They offer a lot of equipment and a good variety of fishing bait. Still at a fair competitive price. The folks there are very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Can't get that from online shopping. Gotta support your local bait shop. And being Sheepshead Bay is going through changes, it is still a fishing community and we need to continue to support our local fishing businesses. This is the place to come to! My only gripe is the hours, but I'll bite the bullet. If they could open at 4 or 5 AM I'd be set. Luckily I'm a flexible guy, even if the fish aren't lol!

They mostly compare prices on eBay and go from there, which is better than the markups they used to have. They could get you anything you want for a price, but mostly have boxes of the 4 major sports from the past few years. They also have a nice selection of bobbleheads and autographed memorabilia, especially of local heroes from the past. I love making an occasional visit to the Hot Corner to hold on to that last drop of youth that was obsessed with collecting cards. I don't see the owner Matt there too often these days, but the kids who he has working there seem capable ans fair so it really doesn't matter. Bring cash and they won't charge tax...

I repeatedly messaged them asking to look at my message and they said they would "hook me up". Apparently they looked at my message 3 weeks later and they decided to block me because they knew they make a mistake and didn't want to own up. Actually thinking about it this whole store is trying to rip you off. I buy "mystery packs" from them and they put on "good card" on top and the rest are duplicates or garbage. Maybe donate them to a school or a children's hospital. Do better
