I have not had the pleasure of visiting their store 'in person', but ordered online. Their styles are fantatsic. Don't let 'surf' confuse you. It isn't really surfer wear. Overall, they have a hip but subtle styling. Sort of stealth-wealth in a sense. The qualty of materials is great for the price and their customer service is very responsive and helpful. Visited on: 11/18/18 around noon The ambiance was great, but the staff attitude made me pretty uncomfortable. I was in the neighborhood looking for a new winter hat. As I entered the back area I saw two staff standing behind a counter so I said hi. Yet both of them just stood there glumly, silent. After looking around, I decided to not get anything, and said thanks to the staff but received no response, again. I don't know if these staff are like that always, but it sure would be unpleasant if they judge their customers by looks and flip flops their attitudes. The only good thing was that the barista was nice and friendly. I quickly left the shop because of the aforementioned staff attitudes, but the coffee looked good and they had a nice variety of pastries as well, so I may go back just for the coffee next time. read more

Believe or not, there is a surf culture in NYC, they even take the subway out to the beach. Granted it's a two hour ride to rockaway beach on Long Island from manhattan, there are no WaWas on the way there, you get some weird stares, but at least you save on gas. This makes me happy cause I kinda wish I could drag a board on our metro, and perhaps accidentally whack the s*** out of some obnoxious teenage dipsh** that seems to overrun the DC metro these days. This place is a testimony to the NYC unique surf culture. It is filled with the two sexiest scents in the world: coffee and surf wax. It's also staffed by completely hot guys, although they are at the most metro looking surfers I've seen (if they surf). I crossed the border from NJ to make make it here, just to check it out. I think the coffee is pretty excellent, second to my beloved Farleys and Blue Bottle in San Francisco. Music is awesome and the back patio/garden is an excellent place to chill. It seems bizarre and out of place for NYC, but that's why I love it. I am not really tempted by the surf gear in this store, it's more geared to guys. The boards are beautiful but pricey. read more

Saturdays needs to stick to graphic tees and hoodies, because that's about all they can do right. I've never encountered a brand where everything you buy will have at least one massive QC issue. The design and branding is nice which is why I kept giving them more chances, but the prices they charge imply that they know what they're doing. In reality they really struggle to properly execute anything that requires any expertise. Here's some examples: 1. I bought a pair of light colored jeans. The jeans had a leather patch at the back waistband that bled all over the rest of the pants. 2, I bought a pair of black jeans. The main button fell off (not fixable). They gave me a new pair and it happened again. Pro tip: if you're using stretch denim, you need to reinforce the waistband so the button doesn't stretch its way out of the hole that's created when you attach the grommet. 3. I bought a pair of white leather shoes. The laces and eyelets immediately left big black marks all over the top of the shoes. 4. Not me, but one time when I was in the store and it happened to be raining, a man ran in the door wearing a new, green Saturdays rain jacket. It was bleeding all over the rest of his clothes and his skin, lol. I should have taken this as a sign. It's also worth noting that the tee's and tanks I own from there have all shrunk more than an acceptable amount and are all pretty fuzzy / pilly. Not exactly aging well like quality clothes should. I guess I'm partially to blame for continuing to go back, but I've certainly learned my lesson. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever dealt with in my life (ONLINE order, not in store). First I purchased two items online. Although they were shipped quickly and arrived quickly there was no email notification for them being shipped Within this package I only received one item as the other was out of stock. I was refunded for the missing item however not the full amount which I had to call to get the full amount refunded. The jacket I received was too large so I wanted to exchange it for another piece so I called to have it exchanged. The guy on the phone said no problem just send it back and we'll exchange it. It's been 3 weeks and there had been no confirmation that my return was received, no exchanged item shipped, and I've called multiple times for updates on the exchange and my calls have not been returned after being promised they will be. I've spent thousands of dollars on their merchandise over the years and really really disappointed to have to deal with this. Walk too fast and you'll miss this rather unique combination of a sporting goods store and a coffee shop. It's a fascinating combination and not one I'm sure I've seen before in this area. When you enter into this store front with brick walls and wood here and there, you're greeted by a row of surfboards and then a counter where the coffee is served. Beyond that are more goods and a seating area towards the back. It feels like a very cozy shop which I can imagine at one time may have been a different type of store front or even a ground level residential apartment. There's a feeling of history here that seeps into one's bones despite the bright colors of the surfboards. I ordered a cup of coffee and to be honest, I expected very little considering the sporting good angle. I figured I'd be getting something slightly above "dirty water" as the phrase goes. Imagine how happy I was when I tasted it and it was quite good! I'm not sure where they get their beans from, but the quality was around the level of my favorite "Gregory's Coffee". They provided milk and soy milk along with the typical sweeteners such as Splenda to sweeten up the drink. The staff was just ramping up in the morning so they seemed a bit tired, but at the time of morning no one is particularly chirpy. Let me start by admitting that I'm not a surfer, but I do love stopping by Saturday's when I'm in the neighborhood. I met the owners of this place when they first opened via my Yelp connections and I have to tell you - they are legit. They've worked in the fashion industry and they are hard core surfers, so they do know a thing or two about their inventory. As for the coffee.... they just like coffee. It's a cool vibe and I love that they welcome people to stop by for a drink, even if you're not going to be a surfboard anytime soon. Plus, they were featured in GQ. I ordered a mens tshirt for my grandson, a half t-shirt showed up and then an email saying they had sent out wrong orders and if we received the wrong order contact them and they will resend. I have tried 5 different emails and have not had the mistaken t-shirt replaced. I have received promises of replacement, but no replacement. When I call their number they actually hang up on me! With all due respect to reviewers dropping less than two stars and hurling insults...what the hell? Just read the "About Us" section of the website and you will find a simple, humble goal behind those who started this apparel, accessories, surf, and coffee shop in '09. After enjoying the space, service, and hot bevs here many times, I can honestly say that no one here's pretending to be a coffee Mecca for gourmands or an equipment provider for Kelly Slater before he charges Teahupo'o, so I'm not sure what all the hating is about. Saturdays is probably - or certainly - the only place in the city (especially Manhattan) that actually manages to pull off the marriage of the materialistic, cutting edge, caffeinated NYC mentality and the more mellow, naturalistic surfer lifestyle. Not self-promoting whatsoever, the airy, quiet space on a cobbled block of Crosby St. simply exists, capturing and exuding what a Saturday morning would be if we weren't all trapped in the concrete jungle. It's hard to tell what time the business actually opens, because if the door is open and the coffee's up, they're open. I like that, because it means that sometimes I can mosey in here at 9:15 am and just ask for one of their giant lattes. Actually, the first few times I visited, I merely accompanied a friend who wanted an Earl Grey, used the back as a seating area for a meeting without purchasing anything whatsoever, and handled the merchandise at will, never intending to buy anything. Many times, I've dilly dallied here on my way to or from my office, picking up pucks of Sex Wax and fancy scented candles and sniffing them, squirting lotion out of testers, and using the clean and sunny salvaged-wood bathroom (before business hours, might I add). No one ever bothered or neglected me for being obnoxious and loafing around. No one ever acted snotty or neglected to serve me (the place is too small for the staff to slack off). If anything, the baristas gave me what I needed and made pleasant conversation about delightfully random things besides. Though the merchandise is expensive because the business model is based around an upscale image, the goods are at least interesting. One of these days, I will probably purchase - and not regret purchasing - a picture book of the world's waves or an 8-dollar chocolate bar studded with Maine sea salt or a translucent blue puck of glycerine soap whose scent was inspired by the Atlantic or a giant candle with an unprecedented combo of fragrances or even a lanyard and brass bracelet made by a local artisan. It's that or spend the equivalent all over the city on total shit interchangeable with other shit being peddled everywhere else. Probably wouldn't get a $650 wetsuit from patagonia or a $1200 funboard that looks like it should be mounted on a wall rather than be finned up, but it's cool to know that they do sell functional surfboards and gear here, which realistically does qualify it as one of very few real surf shop options within city limits. If you're looking for used boards or a full range of wetsuit prices, you'd have to take yourself down to NC or out to the Hawaiian Islands, and that's a fact. Finally, had I read any of the reviews here that use the word "hipster" whether in a derogatory or factual tone before coming here, I would never have set foot in Saturdays. In case it isn't obvious, I abhor hipsters, which leads me to confirm that the hipster quotient here is LOW in terms of the rest of New York, which in itself is one big breeding ground for hipsters. Hipsters seem to like filth and hypocrisy, neither of which condition exists at Saturdays. The predominant demographic here , if there really is one, is that of the mellow, quiet, potentially well-off, racially diverse, and definitely good-looking male aged 30 to 40. Naturally, this rare gathering of more-than-decent company only increases my enjoyment of the ambience whether or not it affects me directly. Any woman walking in here can expect to be talked to or even hit on (not in an untoward way) by some handsome and benevolent dude, whether he's surfery, artsy, or more straight laced. Any guy walking in here can expect to be left alone or have light conversation if he so wishes. Pair that with a handmade open-top cup full of La Colombe and whole milk froth, and there's no problem, man. read more

Having just returned from Maui, my interest in the surfing culture have definitely creeped up on me and really wanted to check this place out because a) how many surfing related stores can you really find in NYC? and b) they serve coffee in the shop. Let me first clarify that this place isn't really a surf shop or at least it wasn't up to my expectation. If you are looking to buy surf boards and other related gear, you will feel very disappointed. I mean they have nice, quality apparels (expensive) but I'm pretty sure you can find those elsewhere. But if you like the art of surfing, you can explore their pretty books that are filled with mostly professional surfing photography. To simply put it, it's a very typical Soho boutique that showcases overpriced tidbits of stuff that are worth no value. Despite all the reviews about how 'amazing' their coffee is, unfortunately, I wasn't able to try their coffee. Why? Because the barista kept chatting up with another dude and pretended I didn't even exist. He even glanced at me and turned away. I was confused and offended and quickly walked out. Don't know what's the deal with this place but I suppose I wasn't hipster enough? (I knew I should have worn my beat up Toms and oversized plastic rim glasses) OK, maybe I caught the barista on a bad day but at least acknowledge that I'm standing in front of the bar ready to have my order taken. A Saturday morning at Saturdays Surf on the back deck is one of my favorite hideaways in the busy streets of SoHo. Secret or not, it's an encouraged "quiet zone" where interesting people that will talk with you tend to read or catch up at. I've never heard so many people chat about their favorite breaks before in one place. The staff here are all friendly and they sure do make a great latte or Americano to wake you up (or keep you warm). The cafe is open all year and you can even buy a really soft t-shirt while you hang 10 on a surfboard. Where else do you really see a store full of surfboards at in Manhattan, anyways? I've been here several times and at first wasn't too impressed. It seemed like a hipster coffee joint that carried expensive unusable surfboards, sold good coffee, and had a surprisingly good collection of surf magazines and videos. Then I started talking to the staff and that's when I realized there's more depth to Saturdays. I had just gone to Paragon sports looking for a surf hood and gloves (small stock) when I decided to give Saturdays a try. They were almost closed when I asked about the gloves and hood. They kept the store open another few minutes while they went to their back storage to the stuff. They had the exact sizes I was looking for. This place has a stock room with supplies not on display in the showroom. Just start talking to the staff and you'll find so much more to Saturdays. read more

Saturday Surf NYC, oh how I want to give you 5 stars. But I have to be objective... Pro: Half coffee shop, half clothing store with a backyard patio to boot. One of the more unique store layouts I've seen. You can get a coffee and hangout in the patio or look at the stuff in the store. Love their clothing design. There is a reason they were featured in GQ. Con: It takes forever to get a coffee. Especially when it is very busy. There is one barista manning one expresso machine making drinks one at a time. I think I waited 20 minutes just get get my order. The cappuccino is made well, but it not good enough to justify the wait. Cash only also. (since this can be a downside for some people who aren't expecting it. A heads-up to everyone!) I'm not a surfer. I cannot judge the prices or compare the atmosphere to a real surf shop. I probably won't ever buy anything from this store for a while in my lifetime. But its a great store to check out at least once. read more

If this place was only for coffee/hanging out, 4 stars easily. Great physical space, airy and open, with the courtyard and stuff. Coffee is comparable to Starbucks (minus the hordes of tourists in the ones in this area). Service, not so much, but that's a topic for later. The clothing part of the shop, however, needs lots of work. It's disorganized. Most of the things I looked at didn't even have prices on them. The sales staff is beyond rude (including the baristas): they talk to their friends constantly, not really caring about the store or the customers. They let friends cut in line, etc. The coffee shop also presents a problem: who likes to browse and shop in a frenzied coffee shop? There's also a string of arrogance with the "surf shop" idea, and here's what's wrong with that: it's not a surf shop. Everyone working there is way too self conscious for this to ever be a surf shop, along with just plain old rude. The retail/coffee/beergarden idea is certainly novel, and not really seen anywhere else, but there's a reason for that: it doesn't work. read more

I love the brand and usually shop at the one in West Village but decided to check out the Soho store. Needless to say it was disappointing. A lot of sizes were not on the racks so I had to ask an employee for help. You would have thought I was pulling the guys teeth with the way he reacted. $300.00 dollars later, the most attention I received the entire time was when two employees worked together to stuff my clothes into the smallest bag available. After the bag ripped down the entire side, the employee handed it to me and said "it should be fine". I'll take my business to the West Village store. read more

Dude at the back counter wouldn't even look up to acknowledge me to answer a question. C'mon NYC. You just hosted the dream tour and this is the best you can do? There have to be dozens of local shapers who would love to have their boards in the shop and you gotta import em all the way from san clemente? What's next, a shipment of Merrick dumpster divers? A hipster hangout where I can shop for clothing, buy a cup of coffee, and be reminded of the sunny west coast?!? Frankly speaking, that is awesome. First of all, the staff here is super chill. They're always in the mood to chat it up about random things, and then sit on the bench to people watch with you. What could make it even more laid back? The fact that they have a coffee bar here. For the record, the cappuccino isn't half bad! Anyhow, back to the spot itself. Saturdays actually sells clothing here. It's going for that laid back surfer feel to the store, and the decor reflects that. Now coming from California, and going to school near the beach, this is very reminiscent of home. From the random surfboards to the wet suits, I really wonder if someone's going to buy that here and then go surfing at the Hamptons. Nonetheless, for the rest of us land dwellers, they also sell normal clothing. T-Shirts are $40, and Hoodies are around $130. Aside from their own branded clothes, Saturdays also sells other brands. You can find misc backpacks, bags, and other stuff from your outdoors brands like Duluth. Saturdays is actually a welcome addition to SoHo. Sometimes I just want that chill feel, and this place does it for me. Did I mention that they have an outdoors area in the back for chilling? Lax to the max. read more

First off, I don't drink coffee so I have no opinion about their brew. Giving them a low score based on their coffee is kinda lame, because liking a particular blend seems to be subjective, no? I first found the store a month or so after they opened when it was just coffee, boards, wetsuits, surf gear and some interesting books. I like that they expanded into doing their own line of mens clothing in store and online. Not cheap stuff like Volcom or RVCA, but a nice line of casual menswear. I wish they would stock boards from local NY and NJ shapers, they would get a five star review from me in that was more of their focus when it comes to boards. BUY LOCAL, man!!! There is a surprisingly large number of surfers in the city and while this is definitely not the typical surf shop, its a cool shop with a bit of everything. They have done a good job building their shop into a unique business and they are definitely worth checking out. read more

Swimsuits have excellent fabrics and styling, but the fit and sizing is AWFUL. Most likely why they have a partnership now with a tailor which definitely makes it more persuading to buy, but I'd much rather they just get their production right and make some nice fitting items. Service is very smug for no reason. Coffee is good and there is a nice backyard to enjoy if you know how to behave like a respectful, quiet person. read more

Main point of this review: Come here to drink good coffee on their amazing rear patio and shop their awesome clothing. Saturdays is not a regular surf shop. First and foremost it's one of my favorite clothing brands that combines excellent quality with simple, clean and casual designs. It isn't cheap, though. I came across Satudays when searching for a shop to buy a Miansai bracelet for a friend's birthday. They have a good bit of merchandise in the store, and even more online. It took me a solid 10-15 minutes to check out all of the bracelets and pick one and the employees were very laid-back (they are surfers after all) and helpful. I will definitely return this summer to take advantage of their deck in the back as it seemed like a great spot to hang, drink coffee and maybe even a beer (some guy appeared to have brought his own, not sure how Kosher that is..). read more

The fact they only run two retail stores in the US and can't manage retail-online synchronicity is beyond me. I ended up ordering online, only to find out they ship items from LA (both of their retail stores in the US are in NYC) and they used the slowest possible shipping method. Zero stars. This place was terrible. I came in to rent surfboards for a photoshoot and I was appalled by the way the "manager" was speaking to me. I went in initially to ask questions about their store protocol, scope out their inventory, etc and an employee working gave me the info. The "manager" walked over and as we were speaking I relayed the info I was given and he started to bark at me. So rude, aggressive and hostile- he might have forgotten that he actually works in customer service. Due to his behavior, I will never come back here. I'd rather go to Pilgrim, where they are respectful. Would rather give them my money, not a business that has such a prick as part of their staff. I guess that's a lot to ask for when you live in a city full of people like this guy who works in retail, maybe hates his job or perhaps just simply, is pretentious. Maybe he hates his life, because he's not going anywhere in it? Not sure. On behalf of the other employee that helped me today in the store, he-- was actually a very sweet kid. Great gear and coffee at Saturdays on Crosby. Great guys as well. Before a big winter swell they helped me locate a pair of booties after I lost mine the previous month. Recently, Logan helped me out big time getting a ding in my board repaired through a local shaper. I once scored a free wax comb from Josh, this all happened on Crosby Street in NYC which is totally rad. Highly recommend supporting these guys. read more

Saturday Surf takes the whole CA surf thing and spins it in a way that is 1 part style, 1 part hipster, half part surf, half part skate. The coffee is alright, but I didn't think it was worth what I paid for it. They've got this awesome patio out back you can hang around in, but why you would... I dunno. The gear in the shop is pretty awesome, it's kind of like typical surf gear on sartorial steroids. All in all, a nice place to go browsing. I received a sweater as a holiday present. I received the gift in January and it was the wrong size. I went to return it on Feb 9. I did not know they had a 15 days exchange policy. Even with the gift receipt, they informed me that it was a new season and there was nothing they can do. They are still selling the item online and still refused to return it. Hi, im used to buy this brand from bloomingdales and never knew that there was a store in soho, bought a chino pants at bloomingdales soho and went back to return them because of the size, for my bad luck they ran out of it.one of the bloomingdales employees told me about the store in crosby, i go there with my bloomingdales receipt and gently ask if it was posible to get a discount because i paid half of the original price for the pants at bloomingdales on a big sale, just a little discount,.i would have been happy with a 10% off, for my surprise they said NO, and very.rude by the way, specially a asian looking employee with long hair..and the other manager, as a result i would never go and buy again from them, the gesture would have mean a lot.i did bought the pants but im 100% sure that i will never buy or recommend this store.
