This is a review for the SUNOCO at ROLLING ROAD in Springfield , Va. 6381 Rolling Road. I am the victim of a " bait n' switch" tactic. I had my car diagnosed by a AAA roadside service man. He told me that I needed a " starter motor" for my P.T. Cruiser 2006. So I had gotten a " starter motor" to install from Advanced Auto on Backlick rd. in Springfield, Va. I had called Shell Plaza to get a quote about installation and I was told that they could install a new starter motor $450 that included labor. I being a senior citizen woman 69 am on a very restricted disability income of $770 a month. I thought $450 was too much so I went over to SUNOCO and Matthew Mayo service manager said $217 . I asked him twice and he repeated $217 even wrote on a service card. So I said great and got the car to the garage then I get the BAD NEWS . He says we have the bumper off your PT CRUISER and it will be 4 hours of labor. I was in a catch 22 ! They had me by the proverbial balls so to speak if I were a male. It gets worse. A friend had offered to help me with the bill. I thinking that it would be $217. It turns out that my friend "authorized" work on the car without notifying without permission and I get a bill for $681 dollars. I was near a heart attack as the garage did not tell me that this " friend" told them to do the air conditioning too!. He did not bother to inform me he had over-rided my request that nothing but the installation of starter motor be done! The mechanic NEVER talked to me. I never gave this friend permission to make decisions in my name about car repairs. I just needed financial help with billing. So they never questioned my friend as to whether I had okayed any of this. I live on $770 a month. I was told twice that it would be $217. I felt had taken advantage of and that the manager had NOT respected me. Now I noticed that the new front bumper the under carriage is damaged and it was NOT damaged when I drove to SUNOCO. It was a relatively new bumper I had installed by Caliber collision in Fairfax county about a year ago. State Farm had paid for it . It was a thousand dollars. I came to the conclusion that the mechanic who worked on my car did not know how to drive a PT CRUISER which has a very low bumper and wrecked it while trying to get it off. I am very upset with SUNOCO for their dishonesty. I think the mechanic should be FIRED for taking orders from a friend who was not given permission to make decisions about repairs in my name. No one told me about the air conditioning. It was on the bill when I found out. I am very distressed by what SUNOCO did and want to warn ALL senior citizen women to NOT go to this garage. They ripped me off lied and did NOT fix the problem. I have a copy of the invoice and they made some remarks which makes me wonder if they put a defective motor in. I had a good one from Advanced auto and they wrote NO WARRANTY ON SUPPLIED PARTS which makes me worry that they did something NOT kosher? The receipt from Advanced Auto I do believe says that it has a warranty a guarantee on quality. I left SUNOCO thinking" bad thoughts" about the manager and his accomplice. This whole incident has me very depressed. I told the manager in an email that I cannot recommend his garage! I used Saratoga Sunoco for several years for vehicle maintenance but will never go back now. I took my car in for a oil change and for a defective highbeam headlight replacement. I was told it was a wiring problem that would cost ~$900 for a new wiring from mercedes and that a used may cost $500. I asked that they just button it up and that I'd get the repair don't at another time. Now my lowbeam and highbeam do not work on that side of the vehicle and my bill included $300 in labor for the botched repair. read more

I took my vehicle in for an inspection during lunch and came out with a scratch on my dashboard. These were fresh scratches with the plastic bits still on the dash. Brad the manager apparently discussed this situation with the owners and decided they would not fix the scratch and did not offer any alternative solution. His only offer was to suggest how the scratch may have been there already, or since the sticker has now been moved to the bottom corner of the windshield that the scratch was already there and can now be seen. He stated the inspector has been doing this for years and this has never happened. I say there is a first time for everything. My co-worker is a witness and specifically did not see any scratches prior to dropping it off for inspection. Brad said he "has to side with his guy" after being presented with this information. I should add that the adhesive and gunk from the old sticker was still on the windshield. There was obviously no care or attention to detail so scratching the dash does not seem far fetched at all. I was able to buy a scraper at the hardware store and remove the adhesive without much fuss. It's unfortunate and disappointing that this service station cannot even perform a simple inspection without any issues, and makes you wonder about work that is more involved and complicated. I can understand an honest mistake, but they should at least admit to it and have the integrity to hold themselves accountable. I asked for the owner's contact information since this response was not acceptable, but Brad would not provide it and only cited the address. I will never go to this service station for the overpriced gas or the questionable "service". Please steer clear of this place. read more
