VA state inspection and emissions testing M-F: 7:00 - 3:50 Saturday: 7:00 - 2:00 Sunday: closed
Heather M.

This is a gas station/car care center. I went in for an inspection on a Wednesday morning. I got there shortly after 7:30 am and was out by 7:50. I haven't noticed any issues. It was a pleasant experience.

Great, quick reasonably priced service. They explain what they are doing and why and refuse service on unnecessary things.

Came in for an oil change and emissions test on a Saturday.. Staff were very friendly, and the whole test only took 15mins.

Premier Auto - Hybrid system repair for this Toyota highlander

My 100 Series Toyota…read moreLand Cruiser had a leak in the AC system (front and rear units), as well as a clunking sound when put in gear, shifting (sometimes), as well as accelerating on flat roads. First mechanic I went to had the car for 2 days and only greased the transfer case. And he wouldn't even work on the AC because the Land Cruiser is 23 years old and and that unit HVAC system was extremely complicated. Eric from Premier Auto detected the problem immediately and gave me an estimate. Now, the AC system is running ice cold and the front axle replacements completely fixed the clunking; it's buttery smooth as it should be. It was done in like 3 days; amazing turn around time. Are they the cheapest? No, but they are competitive. The better question would be, "Are they honest, qualified, and professional? Am I getting VALUE for my money?" I am happy to say yes to all four. For me as a husband and father, my family's safety is my #1 priority. I now have a trusted mechanic for our vehicles at Premier Auto. 10/10 absolutely recommend.

The business messaged me with a seemingly genuine desire to make things right, but the "damage was…read moredone" and I don't know how they could gain my trust again, if ever. Back in Cali, I started working on my own cars because a) I'd end up coming back to the shop because work not done properly, or b) once I have something repaired, another problem would come up as if the shop did something malicious so I could go back to them. If I had more money, I'd probably go to a more expensive place where there'd be a higher likelihood that it'll get done right the first time. But I was broke and would resort to searching for highly rated places, and choosing the most reasonable quote. Fast forward to now, and having to replace a rack and pinion was beyond what I was willing to invest in time and tools, so I went to a shop thinking that I'd find an honest place with someone whom I can call "my mechanic." But I was duped yet again. My message for any business that wants good reviews and repeat customers is: Just do it...right...the first time...and be honest. If you're going to quote a price, make sure it's a price you're comfortable doing outstanding work for and not bait the customer only to do a half baked job, or charge them extra in the end. (Technically, there's supposed to be a signed work order with an estimated price...and they'd have to contact the customer with any changes before work can be completed) Rosie and the rest of the staff seemed like really nice people, and I would have totally gone back....but niceness doesn't overshadow the fact that I wasn't satisfied with the work. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call for them, and as a reminder for other business owners to just do it...right...the first time...honestly, and with pride in your work - knowing that your reward isn't just financial, but that there's satisfaction in knowing that your customer is happy. For now, I'm going to have to go back to fixing/maintaining my own cars , and saving up for any major repairs so I can send my car to a reputable shop with a high number of positive reviews. That, and/or replace my car with a more reliable one with fewer major issues.

Vernon Memorial Hwy., Alex., VA 22309. A friend took her car there to have a flat tire repaired and a turn signal bulb replaced. They suggested that she have her oil changed as well - which she agreed to. When she returned they presented her with a bill for $274.54. Being the quiet person that she is, she paid without question. She told me about the charge and I asked to see her to see the receipt. The first item that jumped out at me was that they charged her $45.00 to check her battery, charging system, and starting system. She never asked them to perform that service as there wasn't an issue with the electrical system. They told her that her battery needed to be replaced. It was less than two years old, so she declined since she knew that IF there was a problem, it would still be under warranty. Nonetheless, they charged her $45 for a service she never asked for or authorized. They charged her $68.99 for the oil change PLUS $36.00 for oil change labor. The price of the oil change included a filter and the first 5 quarts of oil. HOWEVER, they charged her an additional $12.00 for a 6th quart of synthetic oil. According to her OWNER'S MANUAL the engine only holds FIVE -5- QUARTS of oil - MAX. They charged her $10.99 for a replacement bulb PLUS $45.00 labor to replace the burned-out bulb. This is a TWO MINUTE job, which I demonstrated to the service writer when I went back to the station with her. They also charged $40.00 to plug her leaking tire. Obviously, I have no power to dictate their ridiculously high labor charges so we accepted those, but I did insist that they refund the $12 for the extra quart of oil that was never put into her car. Also, since she never requested a check of the electrical system, I insisted on a $45 refund for that 'service'. Unfortunately, she still overpaid for the work that was done. The service writer was argumentative and belligerent from the moment he saw the two of us approach with the receipt in hand. I believe that I was only successful at getting a refund of any amount because I repeated the list of overcharges several times as new customers arrived. I DO NOT recommend that you patronize this establishment! Forewarned is Forearmed . . . Miguel de Cervantes Wish it was possible to leave negative started rating!

I was so happy when I found Merv's. I thought they did good work and were honest. I was wrong. I brought my car to Merv's for service. I provided my own materials. My bill should have been around $30-$40. I was shocked when I looked at my bill. It was more than double what it should have been. I asked why it was so much. Merv, who was sitting in the front office began to squirm and told me it was because a wheel balance and tire rotation was performed. I immediately asked if it had actually been performed. I did not request that to be done. Rather than correct the invoice, Merv asked me if I wanted a credit. Really? You overcharge a customer and then ask if they want a credit. I was told that I had already received a discount because I provided my own materials. So, to recap, buying my own parts and not allowing a shop to overcharge me for materials is considered a discount. That's interesting....what Merv calls a discount is called fraud under Virginia state law. Buyer beware. The attempted gouge was far more expensive to Merv than he imagined. You have been warned.
