Great guys; great service on the whole. I had a noise coming from the area near the serpentine belt on my 19-year old car. One of their mechanics was kind enough to just take a listen and see what he could make of it, free-of-charge. When I brought it back for a more thorough diagnosis, they identified the problem (timing belt rubbing slightly on something due to tolerances that are too tight; addressed in a manufacturer's technical service bulletin from 15 years ago). It would have been a big job and a bundle of money to fully resolve the issue. Ultimately they (Brent) advised me to just let it go and keep an eye on it because it's not a "catastrophic" issue. Honest and much appreciated advice. That said, I also had another less satisfactory experience before this. Had a slow leak in a tire, so brought it in for inspection. They had a young (teen-aged) and probably less experienced mechanic patch the tire for me. He kept looking to the older mechanics for guidance, which didn't instill a lot of confidence. Sure enough, the patch ended up failing while I was on the highway. In the end, I had to replace the tire. Upon inspecting the old tire, the folks at the tire shop told me that the puncture wasn't close enough to the middle of the contact patch, but rather on the outer part of the tread, too close to the sidewall to be safe, which meant that it should've been immediately replaced, rather than patched. So, just make sure that Brent and/or one of their more senior, certified mechanics is taking care of things and you should be good! read more

I just had a VERY pleasant experience with West Springfield Auto Care. This morning I took my 2012 Toyota RAV4 in for its 105K mile maintenance service. I bought the car one year ago at CarMax in Woodbridge. I expected to pay $300-$800 and thought it wouldn't be ready until later this afternoon. They were obviously busy, all parking spaces were taken by cars waiting for service. I got a call that my car was ready for pickup about 2-1/2 hours after dropping it off. When I was told the charge was only $68 I thought they misunderstood and thought I only wanted an oil change. I was told the car was in good condition, nothing needed to be done, CarMax had gone over it very well before I drove it off their lot last year. When I brought my car in for inspection at West Springfield Auto Care the previous month they suggested I bring it back after receiving the County stickers. I had at least two decades, maybe more, of stickers piled on the license plate. It had reached a point where it would have been easy for someone to peel the top sticker off. I had been unable to remove them all. They took care of that for me during this visit. Needless to say, I am very pleased and will take my car here from now on. I called about the dreaded "Check Engine" light. "Swing by and we'll check the code for you." That was supposed to be the busiest time (3-4 p.m.), but I went in anyway. The place was indeed full of cars and mechanics talking to customers. I circled twice before parking behind a waiting car, and went into the office. "I just called ..." "Oh, Toyota ...?" before I finished my sentence, a friendly man told me "I'll meet you at your car." Two (or three} minutes later, he said the car had a fuel leak, possibly from the gas cap. He re-tied it and the light was gone. (Right, the light was on after someone else filled the tank). No charge, and I'm not sure it's appropriate to tip, but I will definitely bring business back here. The man, by the way, is Brent, whom was praised by several Yelp reviews. Well, I've used this shop for many years, specifically during their near inability to operate back in the early 2000s. Seemed to go rather noticed, however. I did leave a brief comment about their unorthodox manner of exuding a fair sense of customer respect on the inspection side. Hey, that happens. So, I went back. My car was UNTOUCHED. Called and made a same day appointment for an oil change and trip check before a long drive out of state. They told me 45 minute wait. Within 30 minutes I got a call that my car was ready. When most car places see a 23 year old woman they try to stiff you - totally not the case here. They didn't even charge me for the trip check, but said everything looked good. Avoid this shop and just go across the street to Cardinal Shell. I paid $20 to fail a state inspection on false pretenses and an attempt to upsell me to $650 dollars in additional service. My car had been inspected by dealer less than two months ago with no noted problems specifically on brakes. When I was there I was fed a line that my car failed inspection due to a fault with the rotors not making contact with the pads correctly and that this happens on cars that aren't driven a lot during pandemic. Avoid this shop at all costs. A good shop is really just across the street. read more

I called the day prior and told them I had a tire issue. They told me to come in at 8am the next morning. When I arrived I was expecting to be waiting for a while to get my car looked at. There were already cars in the bay and people waiting to get state inspections. Instead I was told to drive my car up to the bay and I was greeted by Brandon (technician) and he told me he would take a look at it and see what he could do. I appreciated the fact that they knew it was a quick fix and wouldn't take long so they took care of it right away. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. Brandon was great and they only charged me $20. I know exactly where I am going to next time I need some work done on my car. Oil change, B1 service to state and emissions inspections, I trust WSAC. One time my brake fluid was low and called to let Gary know what was going on and he said bring your car in now and let's take a look at it. After few minutes later, he said he brake fluid was low so he topped it off for me at no charge. Best auto care service in west Springfield and shall continue to take my car for any services. BEWARE OVER CHARGES: my vehicle had a broken radiator and this auto service tried to charge me $2400 to fix the issue, which seemed high but I didn't really know any better because I don't know much about cars. However, when I called three other auto services to get quotes on radiator replacements, ALL QUOTED ME $1000 AND UNDER. West Springfield auto care attempted to charge me $1400 more than the going rate. I repeat, THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME ALMOST 3 TIMES THE GOING RATE FOR THEIR SERVICES. To make matters worse, they told me I needed four new brakes and required an annual inspection. Not only was my inspection NOT expired, I did not actually need new brakes... In total, WEST SPRINGFIELD AUTO CARE TRIED TO OVER CHARGE ME OVER $3000 FOR WORK I GOT DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR $900. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. read more

I've been taking our cars to West Springfield Auto Care, between the Exxon and the Whole Foods on the corner of Old Keene Mill and Rolling, since we moved to West Springfield in 2001. Initially this was just out of convenience since we live a block away, but I've continued because I always get good, honest service and have never encountered any problems. The cars we have had serviced here include a BMW 325iX, Audi A4, and Audi S4. In addition to state inspection/emissions and associated minor repairs we've had the typical kinds of tire, exhaust, brake, and engine work you'd expect on a 5 - 15 year old car done. Nothing major so far (luckily), but a few make/model-specific repairs that I felt were handled as well as if performed by a mechanic dedicated to those makes. Same day appointments are sometimes possible, but generally next day is typical. They are good at communicating when decisions need to be made and when the car is ready to be picked up. read more

the inspection guy... I would have failed my inspection because a bulb was burned out but instead of telling me first or failing me so I could come back to re-test he went ahead and changed it for me.. nice right?... but wait... the work that he did that I NEVER AUTHORIZED cost me $10 for the bulb and $45 for labor so a total of $55 to change JUST ONE BULB ?? It would have taken me 5 minutes to change my turn signal bulb and he charges me 1/2 hour labor rate?? I complained (no use), paid, and left. Never coming here again for inspections but I'm sure the owner could care less since every shop owner knows that Inspections don't make any money for the shop... they are just there to get you to come to the shop... it's a "loss leader". read more

Their work has been great and relatively fast for the couple years we have used this garage. High on the "trust" side of auto repair for me. I can't say the same for the surrounding auto garages at Old Keane Mill and Rolling Rd. This was the last garage I tried in this area of West Springfield and I wish it had been the first. Excellent, Honest Service - I have had several cars worked on here from time to time and have always received a fair, honest deal. Most recently, another repair place that I stopped by for a look at a minor exhaust problem also looked at a non-working AC issue on the car and said my compressor on my 07' Camry was shot; they provided a very high estimate for parts/repair and recharge of the system. I decided to shop around a bit and knew that West Springfield Auto may work with me if I bought/provided the part for them to install so I could save a bit of money on the repair of this older car. I dropped the car off with the compressor and a few associated parts today. Within hours, I received a call informing me that they looked at the existing compressor/AC system and diagnosed the issue as a loose wire/connection at the compressor. Once they fixed that, and put in a bit of coolant, it worked like a charm. This saved me a ton on the repair cost since I didn't need a new compressor and the several hours of labor to get it installed/recharged. Fortunately, I was able to return the parts I purchased for a full refund (less a minimal shipping charge). I am confident that other auto repair shops would not have provided such an honest assessment and forgone some additional repair $$ that they could have charged to the customer. I have always had excellent experiences with West Springfield Auto Care, and this time was no exception. I went in knowing I had problems with my brakes. The guy I spoke with was very friendly and knowledgeable. They were honest about the state of my brakes, and didn't try to sell me on anything else. They told me that my rear brakes could wait a few thousand miles, which I appreciated. I had my front brakes done and the work was exemplary. I'm not sure my brakes were this good when they were new. Price changed dramatically after I brought my car in. I picked this garage based on many positive reviews and their offering the lowest price. Actual price charged was higher than any of the other estimates I got from others. They also found a problem after my repairs started that I question. I know auto mechanics and check under my hood often, so this found problem (which would have been visually obvious) to me was questionable. On a good day, this is a three star shop. All of these five star ratings make me wonder about the validity of the comments. Many of them (here and on other rating sites) seem very generic in nature, which is indicative of possibly bogus reviews. I for one will never return to this shop. read more

If you want reliable, honest, and friendly service take your car to West Springfield car care. We have been taking our cars to Brett for over 14 years, and have been happy. We have established a long relationship with this business, that has far exceeded the service you get today. We have a 2001 VW and a 2004 Ford Explorer and they have been honest about what is worth fixing and maybe it, is time to get a new car. The critical reviews are curious; and I am alarmed at some of the comments. My VW light bulbs are a pain to change; and yes it does take a 1/2 hour to change due to VWs screwy design. My husband and I are not 'rich', and operate on a teachers salary, so we like many are looking for reasonable, honest car service. We have found that here. Joel is a good man, and we have had nothing but respectful and caring dealings with him. To milign someone's character in a review, is wrong. The Fairfax County Police gets their cars serviced at West Springfield Car Care and when I spoke with a cop; he talked about what a great garage it is; and mentioned, what high regard he had for the manager, Brent. Over the years, we have developed a wonderful relationship with Big Mike, Gary, and Joel; and they will give you the kind,considerate service you are looking for. Rip off, follows no warranty: I am not happy with this store. I have a toyota Camry, My ignition lock was having problem. I was not able to start teh acr. Last month they changed the ignition lock with a very high labour rate. About 270$ only for labour and material around $180 with 3 month labor warranty and 1 yr part warranty. In my view teh part was defective because it starts nicely but after some time I can't take out the key. Within one month I took teh car to them. In teh morning teh representative told me ot was part issue and they will change it. In the afternoon when I went there, they said it was oil issue someone put sevral months ago and they cleaned it again and charges 58$ and still not fixed. They didn't maintain their own warranty. Two issues: rip off, the labour 270 is very hign compared to the market. I checked in a nerby store, they say it would be 110. Even In toyota delaership, the charge with labor and parts is 359$. Second issue: Don't guarruntee the warranty. read more
