    Expansive buffet

Absolutely adore this place! Large selection, good food and great prices. Customer service is usually outstanding, but I will say today I was seated in the "side room" and a waitress never refilled our drinks nor did anyone pick up our used plates. This lack of service was a little concerning and I am hoping this is not a new trend in how they treat their guests. We'll see how our return trip goes, in 2019.

Several friends had told us about this buffet restaurant so we decided to try it. Several selections of entrees including pulled pork, fried fish, fried chicken including livers and gizzards and a few more. A build your own salad along with carrot salad and broccoli salad. Many desserts to choose from and a bread selection. A drink is included in the $11 lunch. Great deal and food was delicious except for the fried fish that was tough and hard to cut. Regular and spicy barbecue sauce were on the individual tables for the pulled pork. Service was friendly and efficient.

For $11, you'll get as much to eat as you could possibly want, a drink that never runs out, and service with a smile, appreciation, and laughter. This place is very basic. Mismatched tables and chairs, a parking lot always packed, and many choices of meat and vegetables, but it's yummy and wholesome and a great deal for the bargain price. I took my elderly mother here for lunch...she had passed by literally thousands of times without stopping because of the full parking lot. I told her a full parking lot was an endorsement. LOL! We enjoyed everything we ate - a full and satisfying salad bar, fried chicken, fried pork chops (OMG!), and the special of the day was shepherd's pie. We also greatly enjoyed the green beans, lima beans, collards, and fried green tomatoes. The mac and cheese wasn't as great as I would like, but not a game-breaker. The desserts were plentiful - two cobblers, pudding, Jell-O and a good amount of fresh watermelon. Again, this place it good, stick-to-your-ribs food, with a fantastic staff, at a good price...no thrills or frills. Enjoy!

Do not let the fact that this is a buffet deter you. It is absolutely, hands down, some of the best home cooking you will ever eat.

This casual buffet is off the beaten path. Not off the main highway. So it may be a bit of challenge to get there. It is not purely soul food. That is why I said it is more southern style food. But you will find notable examples of soul food on the buffet choices. I was amazed to find turkey necks and rutabaga as one of many delicious dishes. You never see that unless you search for it. If you never had it. I encourage you to try it out and form your opinion on them. It is a great atmosphere and decent size restaurant. They have plenty of parking spaces in the front and back of the restaurant. I ask you proceed with caution. You have to time it right on Sundays. The place is very busy and hard to find a parking spot and a table due to the church crowd. Once they leave, they have plenty of space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It may not seem like they do not have enough staff. However, they do very well and great customer service. Both at the front desk and at your table. The outside tables are mainly booths with an interesting view of the outside. They also have a unique little hook to hang your purse or jacket on the outside of the table. The inside of restaurant has regular tables and chairs. They can easily accommodate your large party. However, may take some time to arrange the right conditions for you and your guests. They definitely handicap accessible dining and especially for the little ones. The tables regular with chairs with some padding. If you want better seats. I encourage you to sit in the booth. They accept cash and cards. First responders and military discount with valid ID. I believe they do discount for others. Please refer to the website for details and more information. Great choice of your in the area and cannot decide on what to eat and do not want to cook. Great food and great staff!

The chef that took over cooking duties has given several cooking demonstrations on local channels, (in fact, I think the restaurant got an update to its name - "Nelson's Barnyard Buffet") so we decided it was time to give them another try. The food quality is SO IMPROVED since the last time we went. We frequent many AYCE buffets in the Mobile and Baldwin county areas. So, we know the good ones, the bad ones - the consistent ones and the inconsistent ones. In the three times we've recently been to Nelson's Barnyard Buffet, the food has been consistently excellent. Service and cleanliness are spot on. I'm GLAD this place is a bit of a drive, for us, as overeating is practically unavoidable, there. For AYCE Country cooking, (mostly country cooking) this place is at the top of our list. (It even beats Saraceno's (our favorite AYCE Buffet, in Baldwin County) Try it. You won't leave hungry.

Customer…read moreservice was good and I will say this place was better before the pandemic when they had the buffet but what I had recently was some of the worst Indian/nepalese/Himalayan food I've ever had. I ordered the dal fry, vindaloo vegetables, and pakora. The dal fry was the wateriest/soupiest dal I've ever had with absolutely no flavor. The. Vindaloo which is typically a rich red color , that is savory and tangy and spicy looked like a bland curry they just added a little vinegar too. It had none of the complexity of flavor you'd expect, was poorly salted, and tasted like they just threw in a bunch of chilly to make it spicy. The pakora was ok, though not at all crispy, more thick and doughy and soaked the bag in oil. What was most appalling was the mint chutney which was an unnatural form of green, tasted watery, and stained all the food green. I don't know what they're putting in that but when you make mint chutney with mint and cilantro and natural ingredients, it doesn't look like that and it tastes a whole lot better. I don't know if they're getting by making low quality food because there are limited options in the area but this was really disappointing.
