Had mostly read good things on Yelp with some mix reviews Ordered steak skewer, customized pizza with sausage, hot peppers, onions, peppers etc, and the chicken and broccoli pizza The steak tip originally was very bleh like I could get at a store and cook it myself. No seasoning or anything. It was until I was halfway through that I decided to eat it with the peppers. GAME CHANGER. Didn't find the use of the bread. Anyway probably wouldn't order this dish again Then came the pizza. It's a bit watery and flimsy. The flavors are fine, nothing special but still better than some pizza places I've had. On my customized pizza, so wet and toppings mostly came off so had to be gentle. The chicken and broccoli was very meh. No flavor honestly and kinda dry. Too much of a good thing is never too much. In the Eastie, it is worth the drive, Uber, public transportation- whatever it is. Just get here. They know how to treat the customers. They know pizza. Looking for Pizza? Look no further because this was place to go. We ordered for call ahead here and were quoted 20 minutes. We got there easily on the blue line and when we got there it was ready! We took these pizzas all the way back to back bay and they were still hot. We got the sausage one, chicken and then pepperoni and each one was to die for. Delicious, cheesy and quality ingredients. Worth every penny! Sadly I hoped for more from this place. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but it doesn't deserve the full fourth star compared to other great pizza places this reviewer has visited and enjoyed. It checks all of the other boxes - cool quirky old school pizza joint ambience, friendly and efficient staff. But when it came down to the pizza it was just average and the crust although wood fired was bland and not very flavorful (aka crust wasn't worth the caloric splurge). Food and atmosphere, including the people sitting around us that engaged with us in conversation even though our accents were clearly not New England based, made this a great spot for lunch. Finally checked out this spot and it did not disappoint. Had the shrimp scampi pizza and a reg cheese pizza. They came out piping hot and we're tasty once they cooled down. I'm serious you will burn your mouth if you don't wait. Customer service was great and there was plenty of seating inside. There was a bit of a wait because it's first come first serve and they take you as you come in so no need to put a name down. There's a very tiny "waiting" area if you don't want to wait outside, but it fits at least three people and makes it hard for others to exit. I imagine the wait is not the best in the colder months. It's within walking distance from the blue line. I am not sure about parking because it is Eastie, but if you know the area you could probably find a spot. Pizza Heaven! This place is literally 5mins away from the airport and a MUST go to spot. This is the "real" neighborhood pizza of East Boston. The pizza was full of meat and the crust was thin and crunchy. The place is small and our servers were all helpful and attentive. There's no sauce or condiments as they are not needed (or missed at all). The flavor of the grilled high quality meats alone is amazing. The bread is SO good by itself, I forgot that butter existed! I flew into Boston from LA, stomach growling like a bear, and had high hopes for this place after seeing it was rated an 8.2 by Dave Portnoy on Barstool's One Bite reviews. This review is for the east Boston location. We got here around 8:30 on a Saturday and it was daily busy. We were sat down right away and when I asked what is recommended, I was told everything. We settled on a meat lovers pizza and a beef to skewer. My god those skewers were to die for. The meat was so tender and had such a nice meaty taste. The bread it came with was so perfect for sopping up the meat juices. It doesn't need any sauce or anything, just the pure charcoal grilled meat. The cherry peppers the skewers came with was my favorite. The pizza was incredible but the cheese and toppings was coming off the dough. It maybe needed to sit another few minutes before we started eating. But delicious nonetheless. If we lived here this would be a staple in our rotation. We will have to wait till next time but we will definitely be back. In fact we talked our whole trip of how we loved Santarpios. read more

I finally had an opportunity to visit this iconic pizzeria. I got takeout to bring home and had to wait quite a while because they had lots of orders so be aware this place gets busy. Steak and sausage comes with cherry peppers and Italian bread (which was amazing). The pizza crust was what you'd expect for NY style. Easily foldable but still crispy edges with bubbles that got charred and crisp. Just the way I like it. Wonderful flavors. Santarpio's is next to us so we ordered a pizza figuring it would be a frozen pizza put in a microwave. NOPE! We got a hand thrown pizza with great sauce!
