Fantastic, quick, reasonably priced and just... GAH, SO GOOD. I know you can see places with 5 stars and think, 'does it live up to the hype'? Ok - it definitely, definitely does. It's a tiny, simple spot, and we visited during lunch so it wasn't crowded. Our meals - ramen and a salmon bento box - were just incredible. The pickles and everything were delightful with beautiful attention to detail and made with incredible love. This was a meal where in the middle of where you keep on saying to your eating companion 'oh my God, so good'... and then at the end you sit back there with a smile on your face, and wonder if that was the simple lunch, what would dinner be like. I had the salmon and loved it, and the ramen I had a bite of was definitely a top 5 I've ever had. Definitely will be returning. My smile extends wider just now, thinking of it. read more

Samurai Papa BS - So very, very good. - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

My standards are the 1.Goma ae, asparagus and string beans in sesame sauce. Served cold so I think of it as a salad. It's priced perfectly for the portion size. There have been times I ordered multiple and called it a meal. 2. Kara-age, Japanese fried chicken. Garlic Soy marinated nuggets. Served on greens with a lemon wedge and a white sauce. As for their ramen. I go curry. Curry chicken broth, chashu, seasoned egg, veggies, kikurage mushroom, scallions and Japanese eggplant. read more

Samurai Papa BS - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I enjoyed the miso Ramen that i had. I'd go back. Place is small inside and it is first come first serve. Keep your parties small, like 2 people. Expect to wait for a seat, it will be packed. The seating arrangement is like a counter, not individual tables. Don't waste your time trying to bring a group of 3 or more and expect to sit together or even sit at the same time. I'm a little picky with ramen and had zero complaints. read more

Y'all. This ramen is the bees tits. The pork belly is fattier than some places we've been to in the area, which was deliciously welcome after a long drive up the Eastern Seaboard. The ambience is perfect and the food was quick af. The bathroom smelled delicious and had a personal heater that blessed the sitter with periodic breaths of warm air. The restaurant is tiny and seats about 15, so come at an off hour. Loved this place a lot. Will definitely be coming back next time we're in BS. read more

Samurai Papa BS - You'll be jealous of your spoon for getting all up in that yummy soup! - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I live nearby but even if I didn't, I would come here because it's become my favorite ramen place across multiple neighborhoods. It's cozy as it has limited bar seating. I would recommend solo or with a party of 2. I usually order the Bukkake Tonbara Ramen w/ miso and it's consistently high quality and delicious. I'd also recommend the veggie gyozas and the vegan ramen is the best I've ever tasted. read more

This place is good for if you need a quick bite! Not good for groups/more than two people, it is a very small shop. I come here if I don't feel like traveling to get good ramen, this is one of the only places in this location that have ramen. The miso ramen broth is very thick and salty, if that is what you are looking for. I would suggest getting the Soy sauce broth, as that is more light and has more of the umami flavor profile, rather than just salty. For appetizers the pork buns are great, and edamame are always a good choice. read more

Samurai Papa BS - Soy Sauce broth. Bukkake style. lighter broth than Miso! - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This place use to be so good when they first open few years ago. Now it's not that good the broth was mediocre. I don't recommend eating here. read more

Samurai Papa BS you are most certainly magnificent, I had a wonderful experience here yesterday. The look of this place is really pleasant. Samurai Papa BS has an excellent menu, 2 Piece Pork Buns was absolutely outstanding. I've never have had a problem with service. Samurai Papa BS, overall great place, check it out. read more

I frequent this spot and have never had a bad experience! I love the new way of picking up, very quick and easy!

I got the vegan ramen. It was bland, had very little other than noodles, a very thin two slices of alvacado and like water for the broth. Seriously, no spice, no flavor, no Tang no nothing. Just boring noodles that were tough. A very very hard pass from a person who usually craves anything vegan and noodle. Never try there again with so many good options around. Also kinda expensive. read more

Always delicious, that vegan ramen is where it's at. The veggie gyozas are also where it's at. If you have not tried this spot it's great staff is chill. Wish there was outdoor seating but it is a mains street and you don't wana be eating truck fumes while munching (like at Chez Osker) anyway hope you read this review and we're like this dude speaking the truth. In-love. And willing to wait 30-minutes on a Saturday to queue....I don't wait! Bummed that I'm not from or living in NYC, and this spot is waay out-of-the way from where I'm staying. Vegan Raman was perfect, the noodle, the corn, the avocado, and cilantro, it was silky and well seasoned. What I love the most is that they offer a side of seaweed broth so you can have it more like noodle OR soup, however you want it. Also had: veg. gyoza, it was pretty good yet also a bit standard; deep fried tofu was perfect - love the garnish and shredded ginger; burdock root salad was perfect and tangy, could've been eaten at the end of the meal as a palette cleanser, so refreshing. I'll miss you Samurai Papa. read more

This place is amazing, we checked out both locations and were not disappointed at either. The food is hot and absolutely beautiful, when you walk in you can smell the ramen *drools. The staff is extremely nice and will help you with any questions and show you pictures which was awesome. read more

Went with a group of friends to this ramen place! I had actually just watched a documentary about ramen, so I was craving some ramen. Samurai Papa BS - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I was blown away by the Vegan Ramen. I subbed egg noodles for vegan noodles, for I am only a vegetarian. The ramen broth was creamy and warm and salty and well stocked with varied and vividly flavored vegetables (the eggplant was my favorite part of it, especially after being splashed around in the divine broth. I wish there had been more than two pieces of it) The homemade egg noodles were fantastic, and offered in great abundance. I wasn't very hungry when I came into Samurai Papa, and was surprised, and almost alarmed, to discover, after eating with intense focus for 10 minutes, that my giant mountain of egg noodles had transformed into a modest hill. This spot was very affordable (my bill was a few coins above $11 before tip) . Ambiance was minimal, and the place itself was very small-it's just a long bar with 12 or so stools. My only reservation in awarding these five stars is my memory of the very very lame dance music they were playing. It was so bad that it almost compelled me to leave, but I'm so glad I didn't. Luckily the kind and efficient waitress turned it down for me. read more

Samurai Papa BS - Super groovy vegan curry - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This is a stand up ramen place. Literally and figuratively. They have a wonderful selection of cold and hot noodle and teas, perfect to remedy any mood. You walk in, stand around the counter and order your perfect bowl of goodness, consume, and go on with your day. Espresso over coffee. Samurai Papa over long-winded ramen restaurant. I can't wait to go back. Try the cloudy Bukkake Tonbaba Ramen. read more

This restaurant is tiny with bar seating only. It's not good for big groups. There was only one staff member taking orders and serving food, which worked out fine. The portions seemed small, but it was actually quite filling in the end. They specialize in Bukkake ramen, where the broth is more concentrated and thicker and you're given a side of Dashi (bonito stock or seaweed stock) to adjust the flavor to your liking. We got the following: -Vegan Ramen: A healthy option to ramen, but not the one you want to get if you're wanting that traditional Japanese ramen. -Curry Ramen: I really loved the broth of this soup. The boiled egg was perfection. I wasn't impressed by their Chasu--it was one thin piece of meat that didn't have much flavor. -Tonbara Ramen: A really great ramen as well except for the chasu--same comment as above. Come here on an off hour otherwise you won't be guaranteed a seat. read more

Alright! We had two different kinds of ramens and the Kara-age, and gyoza. The ramen was absolutely ok - it didn't compare to NYC legends like Ipudo- or even my nearby favorite, Nana Ramen, in terms of packing a flavorful punch. read more

Hmm, I don't think I was wowed by the ramen here. I wasn't a fan of the noodles, and the soup wasn't as creamy or rich as I'd have hoped. The egg they give you is served cold and slightly overcooked. The only saving grace is that this place is a 3 minute walk from my place. I'm also not sure what other reviewers were talking about regarding gratuity being included in the bill? My receipt had a list of suggested gratuity amounts. read more

This place is ok. White people seem to love it tho. Staff on Friday night was overwhelmed with dealing with take out orders. The ramen is ok though the name of all their ramen options (bukkake) left a bad taste in my mouth -- this is the 21st century my dude. Also, I made the mistake of getting their kinpira (not as good as most bad sushi restaurants) and soba -- it's p normal to ask for wasabi and fixing with soba in any Japanese restaurant, and a white dude came out from the back to say 'we don't have wasabi, this isn't a sushi restaurant.' Thanks Bro. Legit my least favorite way to enjoy Japanese food is with a white man telling me how he has improved on traditional methods. Maybe don't have soba on your menu if you're gonna be a dick about serving it how most Japanese chefs would. I would give 3 stars still but $3 for 2 oz of extra broth? Nah read more

Samurai Papa is excellent! I had never had bukkake ramen before, but now I absolutely love it. I have both ordered take out and eaten in the restaurant and both were great. The restaurant is very small and intimate, one rounded bar surrounding the kitchen. My girlfriend and I both ordered a Bukkake Tonbara Ramen (Cloudy, Miso Flavor) and an order of pork buns. The pork bun come with two in an order and they were very good, especially whatever sauce is on them. The ramen is delicious and had pork, eggplant, corn, and more in it. The broth is very thick and rich and comes with a side of a thinner broth that you pour in as you eat. The broth is my favorite part of ramen so I especially love all the extra broth! Everything is decently priced, about what you would expect. Take out was equally as good, The order was prepared in about 15 mins. We ordered the same thing. The noodles and the toppings are boxed in one box and the broth is in a separate container. It also contains the extra broth you pour as you eat. My only gripe is that it contained only one container of extra broth for two people, and for someone who loves broth, I wanted more! Overall, I would definitely recommend Samurai Papa BS! read more

I came here recently with some friends who live within a 10 minute walk from this newly opened branch of Samurai Papa. I've been meaning to try their original location but have never made it out there. Knowing how mediocre and overpriced ramen is in Brooklyn is, I came to try this spot with very low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. This branch of Samurai Papa specializes in bukkake pour-over-style ramen. BTW Bukkake has nothing to do with porn here. So get that out of your dirty minds before coming here. You basically get a side of dashi broth to dilute the ramen broth. It's an interesting novelty but I don't think it's needed here. Anyway I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. Here's how I rate this bowl: Noodles: Silky smooth noodles. A nice change from most other ramen shops in the city. Broth: Flavorful but not too salty. The dashi broth wasn't really needed to dilute it. I just poured the dashi in anyway. It didn't really make a difference. Toppings: 1 slice of melty chasu pork that tasted kind of like pastrami. Would have preferred one more slice! It was pretty tasty nonetheless. Half an egg, nori, eggplant, and scallions. Portions: They serve your ramen in these deceptive looking half concave bowls. So it looks like you're barely getting any ramen but don't worry, you're getting a good amount. A little bit more would have been nice though. Price: Ramen range from $10-14. Tip is included in the price! Amazing. I love this new trend. Service: Super friendly and welcoming. Not pretentious or very hipstery at all. Overall: I'm glad I tried this spot out. I surprisingly enjoyed my ramen here. It's solid. Probably as good as ramen is going to get in Brooklyn for now. A solid 4.5/5 bowls. read more

This post is not about the food, but the place. We knew all the others in Williamsburg, so we trekked yesterday to Samurai Papa BS under snow flurries for Sunday brunch... only to find out that this outpost is more of a take out than a restaurant. Excellent broth for ramen, I had the tan tan ramen which is the spicy broth bukkake style. The place is small and may fill up fast as there is only bar counter seating. I would totally come back as it's not too expensive and one of the gems in bed stuy read more

Open until 1130 (and no later), this place is the perfect post drinks spot. Ramen was a healthy portion size and included all the toppings. Also came w a side bowl of fish broth in case you wanted to thin the cloudy meat broth. It was delicious. Noodles were different than what I'm used to at other ramen joints (these were flat) but tasty. Really, everything was tasty The only drawback is that it's standing room only and the tables are a bit low, causing some stooping while slurping. The fried chicken was a hot bomb of yum. read more

If you come for lunch on a Saturday and order the Karaage chicken bento make sure you ask for your chicken well done because mine was served RARE. With about 4 servings of rice sprinkled with black sesame to dress up the mediocre garbage they call food. Server was great. Menus smelled like it was soaked in Bonito stank water. The other samurai mommas and Pappas are great. Get it together. read more

I've been here a couple times and the food was decent. Not so tonight. Over cooked egg (basically hard boiled instead of just barely set,) and a soup base that was more sauce than soup. But the most troubling thing was the noodles, which were so over cooked they had congealed into giant clumps. I brought a friend here who had never had ramen before and I'm not sure he'll ever try it again. The food was so disappointing that I signed up for yelp just so I could warn others (this is my first yelp review ever.) read more

Samurai Papa BS - This is literally a hard clump of congealed noodles. There were 4 more like it. It was not yummy. - Ramen Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

A unique take on ramen can be had here at Samurai Papa BS. It's not going to be for everybody let's get it out of the way first: - The pork is sweet. - The Shio broth is thicker than most people are used to and deliciously umami. - This place is standing room only. - No tipping allowed. - No bells and whistles here, no ability to pick richness of broth (although you can modulate with dashi) and no choice in how you want your noodles cooked. With that said, the style here is innovative and unique. Never had anything like this and literally drank all of the broth. read more

Small space, fast service reminiscent of small ramen shops in Japan. The vibe is nice and laid back, I think their prices went up a bit. The vegan tomato ramen wasn't as flavorful as it was before, I had to add a spicy soy paste sauce to make it less bland. I wanted to like the vegan soba but again a little bland for my taste. The tofu appetizer they offer is okay but I prefer agedashi. This place is good if you're a meat eating ramen lover. But I love udon and wish they served Samurai Mamas udon. Customer service was terrible. I live right by this spot and used to go here more often when it's first open. The staffs back then were so much friendlier and much more professional. Now, everytime I walk into this place, I receive a very cold glance from the waiters behind the bar, absolutely no greeting, as if I didn't belong to this place? I stood there for a good 10' without any attention from the waiter so I decided to leave. Another time I came back and it was the same waiter again and same thing happened. I just read a review from another customer and it seems like she experienced the same problem with the same waiter. I like this spot because it's close to my place, yet I have to check who's working before I come in. About the food, I personally don't like any of their non-veggie ramens as the broth is too salty that it drowns the other flavors, compare to many ramens spot I've been to. The veggie and vegan one are better. Bento box are pretty good as well. Just need to improve customer service tho. So 2 stars it is. read more

Super fun ramen joint! - standing room only. adds to the charm. - BOYB. unfortunately we didn't bring anything. next time! - pickled veggies were yummy! love the daikon. - it's hard to order the bukkake ramen without giggling, but we all managed. - said ramen was very tasty. the pork belly melted in my mouth. - friendly service, even though my two friends and I were slightly obnoxiously too loud. - tipping is included in their prices. woot! - bonus: description of my friend's fisherman sweater was printed on the bill. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. I haven't been in maybe over 6mo, but everything has gone down hill. This used to be a 'good' Ramen spot in BK, which is extremely hard to find at that, but now it's sunken to the plethora of pretentious wannabes. Man, I went there last night with lady and we ordered take-out. Normally, I'd eat Ramen at the restaurant, but my lady wasn't feeling to well and we were in the mood for Ramen. Papa's is small, intimate, and usually comfortable. I've met the owners and cooks the first time I was there, and it has always been a good experience. But this time was unacceptable. We walked in and awaited the guy behind the counter to at least acknowledge us. A good 5-7 mins go by without even a glance, and the patron sitting at the bar was actually kind enough to move a seat down so we could sit while we wait, even though I thanked her and mentioned we were just there for pick-up; in which I intentionally said loud enough to let the guy behind the counter hear. Still nothing. Mind you, this guy isn't incredibly busy, he's casually checking on everyone around us and literally passing us at least 15 times without so much as a nod. Now I'm pissed. Another 5 mins go by and I have to get his attention, aggressively bc I'm upset and feel disrespected, but only to find out that my Pick-Up order has been sitting right in front of me tucked behind the counter the entire time. With an attitude he hands me the bag, without a single word out side of me asking him his name, which is Ian. WTF This is your front employee, potentially the face of your business, and this is what you want the experience to be like??! I'm a business owner, I work in the service industry, and I know how to treat customers and clients, this was terrible. I wasn't expecting a red carpet, all he had to do was make us feel welcome or at least acknowledge we were there. I could've been out in less than a minute. Oh! And the noodles for both were unskillfully cooked. Granted, I know I took it to go, but that shouldn't mean that one group of noodles were under cooked while the other was over.. Can't wait to reiterate this experience to my hundreds of local clients. And I'll be paying you all a visit soon to straighten this out in person. read more

Their tomato vegan Ramen is to die for, I will literally leave my house just for this Ramen. I usually order extra noodles & get it for Pick up. The people are very nice there and seem glad to help you at all times. I prefer the Lafayette location over Varet just because to me it is better. But it might just be all in my head. I haven't tried anything else from the menu and I think there's only one other vegan option so I tend to just stay with what I know. read more
