I found this business on Google Maps and was thinking of bringing my PC in, so I called ahead to ask about what sort of pricing I can expect. When I started answering his question about what the problem with the computer was (it began freezing on boot-up as soon as the newest windows 10 update had installed), he asked me whether the computer was air-cooled or liquid-cooled. When I said air-cooled, he started talking about how the problem was definitely the computer overheating, and that he would send me an amazon link to buy a liquid cooling system. I said no, I'm not interested in updating to a liquid cooling system, and the problem is definitely software because it happened immediately after an update. He said that was fine, but that they usually only work with liquid-cooled systems because of the overheating problems with air. That's when I cut him off, said if that's the case then I'll just take my PC elsewhere, and ended the call. What the actual heck? Air-cooled PCs are far more prevalent than liquid-cooled ones, and they say they only work with liquid-cooled? And he's acting like he's already diagnosed my PC without even taking a look at it first or asking very many questions at all? By the way, I was mistaken about this particular PC's cooling system, which is indeed liquid cooled. Guy on the phone was so certain of his remote diagnosis and already telling me to spend a bunch of money on parts. No thanks. read more

I am so grateful to have found Sam to consult on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 printer issue. I have been grappling with my own work tech-support for days and spoke to another external tech company neither of which led me to anything productive other than suggesting, I throw out the printer and buy a new one. Which turns out to be rather expensive. After speaking with Sam for a brief few minutes, he suggested I remove the print head and soak it in a shallow puddle of water overnight and then wipe it clean to get the clear print images. I was skeptical because I had wiped the print had cleaned several times and never got a good result. But he was spot on. He knew exactly what I needed to do and it worked. I got sharp print quality images after doing exactly what he said. He also gave me a link to order a reasonable new print head if the cleaning technique didn't work. So I was fully informed and prepared for Plan B. I'll hang onto that pro tip for next time I have a similar problem. I couldn't be more grateful for his knowledge and helpful consulting. I haven't used Sam's repair as yet, but had an awful experience with a local merchant I took my old Dell laptop to, for a new battery. They LOST my power adaptor cord, and it even had my colorful home address label on it! Sam was wonderfully patient and understanding when we spoke, as I explained my issues with the other store. I'm still waiting for them to locate my power adaptor. What good is a laptop (OR a new battery), if ya can't charge it?? The 'replacement' adaptor they sent me home with isn't charging my laptop. Whadda mess! If they can't find MY cord, I'm forced to buy a new one from Dell (for around $65). I will NEVER return to that other merchant, and will use Sam's IT Solutions in the future for any of my computer or phone needs! read more
