I really hate writing this review but I think it needed to be done. Unfortunately, my wife and I had a horrible experience with Richard - Sam's tile guy. It boiled down to Richard not having the experience or know-how when installing a tile back splash in our kitchen of the new home we purchased. He showed and provided evidence repeatedly that he didn't know what he was doing, whether it was steps to take, things to consider, materials to purchase, and so on. I'm actually quite certain our tile job was his first tile job, despite repeatedly saying he's done it time and time again. After weeks of delay and after making my wife so stressed that she cried, I kicked him off the job and our of new home despite the tile not being done. Honestly, he would've done it wrong anyway. Note that Sam himself did take responsibility for his worker, and did give us a bit of a discount. However, when asked to return and have someone else first the remaining bits, he declined. We're still looking for someone to fix up the mess left behind. Not how we wanted to start our home ownership, but I guess I've heard worse. read more

Sam and his team are incredible. I hired them to help stain my patio, paint the interior of my house, restore my kitchen cabinets, install stair rail, and to assemble 3 dressers and bookshelves. They came early and were very clean and responsible with making sure our place was clean. They are funny, sweet, and very professional. I asked him for the paint work and it was my fault that I didn't buy all the needed materials on the day they came prepared. I apologized and offered to compensate for their time and Sam refused to take my money but I saw him pay his own assistant outside at his own expense. I love that he is just so fair and professional. I have worked with many handymen on my other homes and I am so used to them always trying to add more too their initial quotes. Just 1 day after I post this review. This guy, Sam send me a long message with bad and dirty words. Most funny parts is he said it was not his problem. It is the paint problem. From this, you can believe he is true unprofessional on paint. The paint I used is the one of the best you can find from market. Obviously he even didn't know it. ECOS paint is the one I used. It is made in USA with best Eco-friendly. For safety, I still prepared 7 gallons which proved it was right choice. 2, He raised price before he came. I accepted it and just asked him to delivery a good painting job. Later, Sam even said he gave me lowest price which I can get same offer from other 2 companies. I didn't show him email and message to prove it because I want to be nice. 3, They came 3 guys inclued Sam. It looks only an old guy is experienced. Sam just do some basic assistant job. After they finished they told me all 7 gallons was used up and just finished all area, which he was lying. There are so many places they didn't paint at all and leave it blank. 4, They made paint on my furniture and told me it is easy to remove. They asked me to clean up by myself later. Also, they said they want to finish job in 1 day and have to leave before 4:00pm. I am kindly accepted and just ask them to finish job in good condition. Obviously they didn't. 5, The keypoint is there are 2 places they said there are water leaking in the wall. The paint can not be finished in well. Asked me if I want them break the wall to check. Luckly, I didn't listen and call plumber company to check in the next day. In fact, they gave me another lie. After plumber checked, there is no any leaking problem at my house. 6, Last, I asked them what the terrible job they are going to do. Sam answered me that he charged me the money no matter what. If I don't want to fix by myself, I have to pay them extra money to fix the poor paint. After this bad experience, I can not trust this kind unprofessional contractor. In the end, I waste $1k on paint and labor in total. Now I have to hire another professional company to fix all the mess they left. Just keep in mind don't select this guy for painting job, if you don't want to waste money. PS: there are many corners and places like below pictures. Where do I start? Contacted them on a Monday, said they could do the job but they were out of town. They confirmed Thursday afternoon with me - it was a tile repair, so I asked repeatedly if they'd have the materials to do the job with them. They said yes. We discussed what would be needed, I sent pictures, measurements, etc. and they assured me that yes, they would bring the correct materials. Thursday afternoon rolls around, they arrive - one man in a mask, one in no mask. They're at the bottom of the stairs, so I assume he'll put it on by the time they get upstairs, and I head into the bathroom where the tile needs to be replaced. To my surprise, guy #2 doesn't have his mask on. I ask him to put it on, and he hems and haws before taking a full minute to put it on. I point them towards the tile to be repaired, and get back to my room to work. I pop back out, guy #2's mask is back off, and they tell me they need to get something from the car. I ask him again to put his mask on and say no problem, go grab the thing from the car, and I get back to work. Then another 20 minutes transpire and they tell me it's a special tile that's very thin. Huh? There's no tile there that's being replaced. It's concrete that was holding a porcelain fixture. So they'll need to demo it out and put new tile over it. It doesn't matter how thick it is. If there's concrete flush with the surrounding tile it'll have to be a millimeter thin. They tell me they'll have to go to Home Depot and come back. Not in an hour, mind you, not the next day, but two days later, and they'll "let me know" when they're coming back. I call at 10:45 to see what's going on. They tell me they'll be at Home Depot in an hour. I call back an hour and 15 minutes later, no response. I call back another hour after that, no response. I send a text asking them when they are coming, no response. Finally, an hour after that, they text me to say they can't do the job. Naturally, since they dicked me around for four days, my backup guy is now booked. So my whole project - repairing tile, reglazing it all, and replacing the vanity, is backed up two weeks until the other repair guy is available. I cannot stress this enough - screw these guys. read more

I purchased a 12x16 Yardistry wood gazebo at Costco almost a year ago for my dad's backyard.
