If you know, you know: Salve Osteria + The Gin Room (3200 S Grand Blvd, St. Louis) is the spot. We rolled in with nearly 50 ladies for Sunday brunch (yes, fifty ) and they handled us like total pros. Service was seamless, the staff was friendly, and they didn't miss a beat even with all those cocktails and plates flying out. I had the hash with pork belly, poached egg, potatoes, and spinach -- perfection. Around me, the waffles, Benedicts, and chilaquiles were disappearing just as fast. Every dish was a hit. And the cocktails? The Gin Room is a whole vibe. Thoughtful, balanced, creative -- these drinks are some of the best in STL. Pro tip: they don't always open for brunch (iykyk ). When they do, book fast. Otherwise, their Sunday happy hour and dinners will more than keep you happy. Bottom line: whether you're here to brunch, sip, or both -- this place is a gem. Follow me for more STL brunch finds, cocktail gems, and restaurants you need to know about.

Hooks Under The Bar

I'll be honest, I've never eaten here, but I do plan to correct that mistake in the very near future. However, I have enjoyed many cocktails at their bar. The cocktails here are masterfully made. If you go during, Happy Hour you can enjoy spectacular cocktails and save money at the same time. The bartenders here, really know their craft and will have you ordering a second and may-be even a third. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but if I had to, I'd say their Manhattan. The staff is friendly and so is the other patrons. Sitting at the bar, you'll always have good conversations. Also, if you need to hang a coat or purse up, they've got hooks under the bar. That is one of my favorite things to see when I am out drinking.

Salve has been on my list for a while and I'm so glad we finally checked it off. 5 stars without a doubt. I love the marriage of two concepts in space. It is so well done. The vibe is fun and relaxed but also upscale. Service was great and I always appreciate the team effort. Only note on that is not "auctioning" off the food when it arrived to the table. The gin - they make their cocktails approachable for non gin drinkers and easy to pick in the most brilliant way. You pick a flavor you like on the "gin scale" and then it correlates to a cocktail with those flavors. Our cocktails were so fun and fantastic - perfectly matched with our preferences. The food- every single dish was exceptional. Our table ordered staters, pastas and everything was a hit. You can't go wrong here. Appreciate the seasonal selections with fresh ingredients. When we return, I'll be reordering the tartare and any (maybe all) of the pastas.

My husband and I enjoy checking out places we've never been to. Or rather, I drag my husband along to try out food places because food and wonderful company make me happy and it's one of the many reasons why life is worth living. With that said, I dragged my husband to Salve Osteria but it's okay because they happen to have fantastic cocktails and delicious food that is sure to leave you drooling on your couch, dreaming about that fantabulous meal you just had! We made a 6pm reservations, got in and were seated quickly. Our waitress, who shared my name was pleasant and took our drink orders immediately. Since this place happens to be known for their adventurous cocktails, we decided to order some. I had a negroni, the scarlet pandan with some Filipino gin. Inventive and the taste was actually quite wonderful. Bare in mind, I'm not a gin fan because to me, it tastes too much like a Christmas tree but this one did not. I am a sucker for anything pork belly so, of course, we ordered the pork belly to start, followed by some cacio e peppe gnocchi for me and the Atlantic cod for my husband. We both enjoyed the appetizer and our meal. Truthfully, I enjoyed the appetizer more than my husband did but only because he's not convinced that he's into pork belly as much as I am. We ordered another cocktail during dinner. I had the dry martini and my husband ordered something with pear. We switched because the martini was too much for me. It wasn't bad but I'm a lightweight and usually drink wine on our night out. It's not a reflection of their cocktail making skills. I ordered a chocolate mousse thing for dessert. I was too full but... live life, right? Seriously, I ate the whole decadent, tantalizing concoction and have zero regrets the next day! Lastly, the place is moderately decorated. Nothing overwhelming but does give you a kind of romantic vibe. I would say that it's a perfect place for date night without making it seem too serious and unnecessarily fussy. I will definitely return!

Recently had an opportunity to come back a couple times since our first visit. they consistently deliver on superb cocktails. Their food selection is always fresh, creative, and new. Some recent favorites include a lasagna, or scallops, the whipped feta, and the pork belly. The only item that we've tried recently that didn't quite hit the mark was the short rib Pappardelle, and that was only because there was perhaps an ounce of short rib on the plate. For a relatively inexpensive protein, we were expecting more. Still, a taste has always been phenomenal. Service from both the waiters in the bar are top-notch. If you have any preferences of drinks you do like or do not like be sure and speak up. They seem to have endless ideas for how to adjust the drink to make it perfect for your liking. One visit included a party of eight and the restaurant was very accommodating and getting it set up in advance. The ambience and setting was perfect for our group during dinner.

Another fantastic review of Salve! Salve is one of those places you want to keep secret but can't help sharing. Located on South Grand, this Italian spot is where I bring people to impress them, my family to celebrate, and myself for a quiet "girl dinner" to think, work, and indulge in the pasta. At the heart of Salve is an unbeatable duo: Natasha, the Gin Girl, running the bar, and Matt Wynn doing magic in the kitchen. Natasha is the nicest in the industry and an artist with cocktails, Meanwhile, Matt ensures every dish leaving the kitchen is a masterpiece. The two together are quite dangerous to get addicted to. Every visit has been a flawless experience, from the attentive smiles to the perfectly executed meals. If you haven't been here yet, make a reservation. And if you don't know Natasha, shame on you. This spot is one of the many reasons I love calling St. Louis home.

Deeeeelicious! Wish they did brunch all the time. Our server was EXCELLENT and the restaurant is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy food, drinks, and conversation.

I met several other ladies at the Salve on a Sunday for brunch. This is first time I have been at this establishment in South Grand. They only serve brunch once a month or so. The menu is limited, however, very creative. Started out with the English Rose cocktail which is made with blackberry and raspberry flavored vodka. Very refreshing! For brunch I chose the Raspberry-Pistachio Waffle which was delicious. Prices reasonable.

Great service , friendly, courteous and just right in attention. Cozy, casual setting with two dining areas. We reserved a table for a special brunch offered on Valentine weekend, Sunday. Limited menu, but really unique and delicious choices for shareables, entrees and cocktails. Look for these specials as they don't do brunches every week.

My colleague and I have now started a tradition of trying different places for happy hour and Salve was our first stop. Neither of us had been here before but were excited to try it, especially since they're fairly new and offer a happy hour. We got there a quarter after 4 and had 45 mins until hh was over. We each got a glass of the bubbles and split the meatball app. We were surprised when the bubbles came out, namely due to the glass it was served in and because the Prosecco was flat. We informed the server of the error and he was quick to correct jt. While getting our new glass, unfortunately, it tasted the same. Although we were a bit disappointed, we still drank it. The meatballs were a decent size, surrounded by sauce and a bit of cheese but weren't anything to write home about. The bread that came with it was a bit chewy and stale. We didn't complain as this was our first stop and we were there to check it out. The server and service were pretty good and the menu looked decent. I imagine I'll give it a try for dinner service next time I'm in the area.

Dined with a group of 8 and the service was welcoming and attentive. Not a fancy dining area but comfortable. Food was all great except for scallops (not cooked properly). If a big scallop fan maybe stay away from that dish. I got the BEEF SHORT RIB MACCHERONI AL FERRO which was excellent. Meet & cheese board was a great shareable as well. I know it is next to the gin room but I didn't realize that all of the cocktails had gin in them, so would not go for cocktails unless you are a gin lover.

I've had this spot on my list for a few months now and finally decided to stop in. Easy to get a reservation for a Saturday night the day of. Walking in, the decor was definitely not what I expected. Photos online of the bar definitely make it seem more grand on the inside. The rooms are separated between lounge and restaurant. Requested the lounge on my reservation but was sat in the restaurant. No biggie. Chairs in the restaurant sunk in when you sit in them and were not conducive for eating. GF's drinks we're delicious and creative. I'm not a gin drinker at all and liked them a lot. Service was also spectacular by our waitress. Here's where the ball was dropped. I had the lasagna which was decent. Needed a bit more sauce and the the actual pasta was very bland. Definitely didn't season the pasta water to taste like ocean water. I could make a better one at home. GF's butternut squash tortellini came out at room temp and the pasta was just above al dente. Politely sent it back citing the temperature. Waitress was very apologetic and even sent a slice of cheesecake to end the meal which was excellent and well intentioned. Very grateful. Unfortunately the pasta came back out, with less food than was sent back, not warm and still undercooked. Not sure how in the hell all of those things could be true. Of all of the kitchens I've worked in, at a minimum, the food would have been sent back out hot. And definitely not missing a tortellini. It's pasta, give a full or equal portion back. It's not a steak that was sent back. Overall, the most disappointing and bizarre thing I've seen in some time. Absolutely worth a visit, drinks are great and very creative. The food left a lot to be desired.

We came here on a Saturday night! We've tried this place when it was a previous restaurant. Parking on Grand was tricky this time of night, so I'd get there ahead of your reservation- and I'd make a reservation! They had a good selection of cocktails, some mock tails and many appetizers that were veggie friendly! We had a nice time, service was okay, the portion sizes of the meal was small so I'd get an appetizer if you're hungry! Ambiance was nice

Sorry, this WAS the Smoked Salmon Dip. It was so yummy I forgot to get a pic first, but trust me, you'll want to order it!

'ssippi is a new(ish) wine bar set towards the western end of the collection of bars, restaurants, and shops that are the heart of the strip. The inside has a large wrap about bar and some limited seating. There is a very good selection of wine and mixed drinks and an okay selection of beer. The prices are reasonable. There is a very limited food menu which largely consists of snacks rather than proper entrees. So this is a great pre/post drink spot rather than somewhere you would spend an evening. The bartenders were fine. Nothing stood out either in a good or bad way. The mixed drink my wife had was very good. The orange wine I had was good, a bit on the dry side but overall no complaints from either of us. Without a highlight of the spot is the large patio. It is mostly taken up by large bench style seating. So you have to be okay sitting next to strangers. I actually enjoy these types of settings and I ended up chatting up the group to our right. There are a couple tables but they are few and far between. There are some overhead canopies and lights, and there was a nice vibe and energy. I was there and it was crowded. I really enjoyed it. Just two additional things to note. The bathroom line was very long. It must only be one stall. The entire time I was there it was a dozen people deep. The only other downside is that my wife and I felt old. The vibe on a late(ish) Saturday night was mainly 20 year olds. If I was in grad school or a recent graduate I would absolutely adore this place. Even if your 30s this probably is a good vibe. Once you hit 40 though you may feel a bit out of place on busy nights (or it will make you feel young again!)

A small plates restaurant that felt a little Italian. We make reservations and show up to this place that looks like a neighborhood pub. Quaint, in the corner, inviting light shining through medium sized windows. Inside, the vibes were a hybrid of someone's very nice dining room and an old western saloon. I know that's almost nonsensical, but the vibes were good. We felt right at home. Service was spot on. The server was very nice and new the menu pretty well. The food came out tapas style, so when something was ready, it just came right out. I like that. I like the periods where there are so many plates on the table at one time that it's overwhelming. What's what eating is all about. As for the food itself, it was good. I'll give a little blurb on each thing, as not to wear out your eyeballs. Crispy Artichokes (sauce au vert). These were fun and nice and crispy. Don't see artichokes like these very often. The sauce was a little weak, though. Didn't exactly go well with these fried little morsels. 'Nduja Croquetas (bomba rice, spicy prosciutto, fontina, grenada pepper aioli). Wow, now these little flavor bombs cannot be missed. Spicy sausage arancinis with a nice peppery aioli to dip. An intensely flavorful little dish that I loved. Can't find it on the menu, maybe it was seasonal, maybe it was a special, but we had a bone marrow French onion soup that was nice. The soup was good good. Very well developed flavors. The marrow bone was a little sloppy, though, and we got a transverse cut of bone, leaving very little marrow to access. Next were the Mussels (green garlic broth, Spanish vermouth, pickled peppers, spring onions, grilled LF bread). Very well cooked mussels, sitting in a lovely broth to dip your bread in. Ask for extra bread. But do not ask for extra of that sauce. That was really bad sauce. Sauce work seems to be this place's only weak point. Probably the biggest dish of the night, the Bolognese Bianco (Newman Farms pork & mushroom bolognese, bucatini, gremolata, parmigiano reggiano). This was a really nice pasta dish! Love those big, thicc bucatini noodles. Flavorful bolognese, great texture from the gremolata, and just cheesy enough to make this probably the most complete dish of the night. Then finally the Sea Scallops (ramp soubise, morel mushrooms, house-cured pancetta). Scallops were scored and cooked to look like fine art. Light scallops paired with nice umami from the morels and the pancetta, all tied together by that nice soubise. You don't see that very often either. We ended the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding (apple & date cake, apple brandy toffee, crème chantilly, marcona almond tuile). Chef's kiss. Such a delicate sponge with a nice date flavor. Then boom, the sweet boozy toffee, the creamy chantilly, the texture from the tuile. Every element helped make this a great dessert to end a great meal. Overall, another very pleasant surprise. This was a very good dinner, and I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in St. Louis again.

Dinner menu starts at 5 so we stayed to try more of what The Rabbit has to offer. We ordered the onion rings, gnocchi and meatballs. Unexpectedly, the gnocchi was in a light yet very flavorful broth. It was our favorite dish from the dinner menu. The onion rings were okay and pretty greasy. The labneh sauce was the standout part of the onion rings. The meatballs were also flavorful with a hint of spice yet a tad bit dry. Still worth ordering.

We ordered the NOR and Lillian's revenge cocktails, onion rings, mac & cheese, red snapper, pork tenderloin, and gooey butter cake. I love it when I get to experience flavors I've never had before and every dish gave me a revelation. The cocktails were perfectly balanced, the pork was cooked sous vide and so succulent, and the veggies were tender with drool-worthy flavor. Most of all, everything tasted so delicious and real. It was also not too expensive for this high quality of dining, delivered with warm, genuine service. Our dining experience was an incredible 10/10. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and can't wait to return.

The establishment houses Grand Sammies & Sides and New Society, creating a fusion of a natural wine and agave bar, retail shop, and a sammie spot. Check out all of this. Wednesdays host an all-day happy hour; Thursdays feature a complimentary wine tasting from 5 to 8 PM. For those seeking an exclusive experience, New Society opens its doors on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with reservations available through Tock. Then, sometimes, we popup and eat like the one with Good Time Kitchen. There is always something to checkout at this spot!

Luv the idea of a combined sit in and have a few drinks with the ability to shop and purchase. The oversized gray leather seats were very comfortable as well. Settled on a couple of chilled Knobb Creek shots to show our support. What was a miss for me? Well, while I do like dogs, I'm not necessarily a fan of the owner's pup seeking playtime attention while I'm trying to enjoy my libation. Additionally, the owner had the 2nd table occupied with a boatload of work, shouldn't there be an office? The vibe just didn't pull together for me.
