We chose this restaurant last night for a work dinner while hosting colleagues visiting fron California and were excited to try it. Unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing and honestly quite embarrassing. Our group was seated and brought waters and when the server first came by we asked if we could place drink and appetizer orders for the table since we would all be on one check. After that, no one ever returned to our table to talk our order even as the rest of the party arrived. Meanwhile, other tables around us were being served drinks and food while our group of 4 sat there with only water and no opportunity to order. After waiting quite for quite a while our only option was to leave. We ended up walking down the street to Blueberry Hill, obviously we were not looking for bar food for a corporate dinner that we were hosting but we were immediately greeted and served promptly without issue. The fact that this was a business dinner with 2 out-of-town guests makes the situation even more disappointing and unfortunately left a very poor impression of St. Louis. The lack of professionalism and awareness was beyond surprising. read more

Went for Valentines Day with a very limited pre fixe menu. The mini beef wellingtons were tasty but the sauce tasted fake or pre-made. We ordered 1 salmon entree and 1 beef medallion entree. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was very tasty but the steak was probably one of the worst we've ever had. It was cooked to medium rare and cut easily with a butter knife but had a weird mouth feel. It had absolutely no flavor. For $55 it was not worth the price. Then the twice baked potato side was just weird. The immediate filling was good but the outer part of the potato was inedible. Again, absolutely no flavor. Would have been much happier with the ability or order a burger! Cocktails were watered down with too much ice. read more

Thanksgiving Day Brunch Earlier in the morning, a friend asked me if I had ever had a bad Thanksgiving Day meal. I proudly said, NO. I shared my Christmas bad meal story and restated that I never had a bad Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, that must of been the jinx. I can now say I have experienced a bad Thanksgiving at the age of 69. I'll start with the positive, because what's good is the most important. Salmon - Very good. I'd get it as an entree on my return. Turkey - Tender and juicy. Brisket - Nice. Seasoned well and just the perfect amount of fat. Green Beans - OMG. Flavorful and made fresh. Beans had a nice snap. Mac & Cheese - Great flavor for m&c made on the stove top. Mash Potatoes - made fresh and garlicky. Pecan Pie - It's my favorite. Carvers - Staff working carving station offered good customer service. Disappointment: Dressing - Tasted like Stove Top. Was Dry. Gravy - Did the job, but flavorless. Had to add salt & pepper. Pecan Pie - Not very flavorful. Favorite pie, so I may be a hard judge. Bacon - Could have been baked a little more. Major Disappointment: The organization and service. Not accepting cash as a form of payment. Layout of buffet tables, the flow was not good, diners got congested. Tables in buffet room were disorganized and ruined the ambiance. In closing: The staff needed to adjust their attitudes. They were rushing diners while eating and even when signing for the bill. I wonder if they were short staffed, I saw management bussing tables. That was good to see they are team players and supporting their staff. Before retirement, my career had me working holidays. There were years that I worked both Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I am appreciative of Eclipse being open and serving a Thanksgiving meal. I'll go back for a regular experience, but I'll skip a holiday buffet. read more

Elisia was our greeter, seater, and server. She was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Manager was walking around, and making sure our visit was pleasant. Restaurant was clean, spacious seating and well lit. Bartender was friendly. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries with all the works and it was absolutely delicious. It came out hot and fresh . For a drink a European Cider. I will start getting those as well. Nice priced meal. FYI I reserved my time for happy hour and website is not updated there is no happy hour on Friday anymore ( bummer). read more

Stayed at the connected hotel (Moonrise) recently. Didn't find many walkable breakfast options and just decided to try this. The prices were a bit steep (Omelet, with hash browns, toast - $18, Eclipse breakfast (2 eggs, sausage, toast - $20), but we expected that. What we didn't expect was not receiving my toast, though the waitress said she was bringing it out several times. It took so long and I was consequently eating so slow I lost may appetite ad couldn't finish what I had (quite unusual for me). I think they need more - and possibly - better - help. We stayed here for 2026 New Years Eve. It was very convenient to eat here since it was part of the hotel. The service was OK, the wait staff seemed new, the waitress scolded the bus boy for not cleaning the table we sat at. Then the drinks we ordered came after our dinner was almost done. It wasn't very busy, she just lost track of the order process and brought the food first. She finally had someone else make the drinks. I would only eat here if I stayed at the hotel and nothing else was open. read more

Popped in for a quick dinner before an event at the Pageant. Super close but definitely allow extra time. At the end of the day, this is a hotel restaurant and not really able to handle the kind of rush they got pre-event. That said, it was all hands on deck, hustling to get everyone taken care of. Always nice to see management stepping in. Appreciated the good service. Dinner is an eclectic assortment of familiar things but with a unique twist. I enjoyed the Cosmic Shrimp, a huge portion of fried shrimp dressed in St. Louis Style BBQ sauce, a recommendation from our server. The restaurant is a bit small, but with a funky vibe. Stopped in to enjoy a cocktail/drink and warm up after a walk up and down Delmar during the Ice Festival. Service was friendly and tried to make good on all orders, one of which was a peppermint schnapps hot chocolate. That came out weak on all counts. Server brought out a better version. Comfortable atmosphere. Drink choice menu adequate for our group which included the typical list of boor, wine and cocktails. Liked the bar on the 8th floor better when it opened at 4p. We went for the recent Thanksgiving Day buffet and our party concluded that we won't be returning. The dining area was very plain and the buffet area was not well organized nor well kept. Food was splashed around and platters didn't look fresh. I even wondered if we arrived at the tail-end of the service! The omelette bar was not appealing and the salad area was skimpy. Bacon should have been more crisp! There were few options for vegetarians. The highlights were the brisket (DELISH!) and the salmon and the little finger desserts saved the day. I was never offered a drink other than water. The servers seemed new to the job but the workers seemed to be doing their best. It was pricey for what we got. read more

Seemed like the attention and care dropping during the morning shift. For dinner we ordered the Jerk Wings which had a sort of dry rub spicy seasoning. The Eclipse Burger, a large burger with amazingly seasoned fries and thick bacon. The Nashville Chicken Po Boy was full of chicken balls with similar seasoning to the wings. This review is unique, but trust my every word. I came to the Moonrise hotel to check out their rooftop bar before seeing a show at Delmar Hall. We came a bit late and we were handed a late night menu at the bar for Eclipse. I am a HUGE corn lover and knew I had to try the Island Street Corn when I saw it. It is out of this world! I can't stop raving about this corn! I have been telling everyone to come for the corn! If Eclipse can make a phenomenal corn- I can only imagine the greatness that comes! Since there isn't a page for the Twilight room, and the food comes from Eclipse, I'll combine reviews here. I stopped in to meet a friend before a show at Delmar Hall as I imagine plenty of people do and was pretty happy overall. The rooftop entrance was closed as it was approximately 900 degrees yesterday, which I was more than okay with, but we did pop outside for a quick photo as the views are incredible. Drink-wise, I ordered an NA Moscow mule and it was pretty good; I've had better and I've had worse. As far as food, I ordered the shrimp lettuce wraps and truffle fries and my buddy got the Caesar. I was very underwhelmed with the fries as they just tasted super greasy (even for fries) but the lettuce wraps were BOMB and my friend enjoyed his salad. The food did take quite a while to come out but the staff were all really lovely so it's hard to rate the service. It's a cool spot to checkout and obviously the moonrise is worth a stop, in general, so I'd still recommend it. read more

I really enjoyed my time having dinner here! The service and staff are so friendly and easy to talk to, they are all wonderful. Our server had some really good menu suggestions and the 3 dishes we tried were all very good. The Mac and cheese with duck confit is a must-have! Truffle fries are also very good. They have an accompanying rooftop and the ambiance both in the restaurant and up on the rooftop are lovely. Lots of moon decor and themes, but styled in a very charming way. All in all, the food here is amazing and the stunning ambiance is a very delightful plus. read more

Spent the evening in The Loop and needed a place to close out the night. The space was warm and inviting with plenty of room for everyone. The libations were flowing and the atmosphere was a whole vibe. The bar staff keep our glasses full and our guests happy. Special shout out to the security guard on duty on 1/7/23. We had on friend who was not at his best following a night of drinking and untreated PTSD. The security guard was patient and calm and went above and beyond to ensure we were all safe. The security guard was hospitable and professional at the end of the evening ushering us to the lobby so the rest of the staff could close up on time. I didn't catch his name. Came in on Monday evening for the first time right before a concert and the place was not at all busy. I made reservations which was unnecessary. The host didn't even ask for the name it was made under but simply asked for seating preference (table or booth) and proceeded to seat us. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I ordered their version of the old fashioned which tasted strong and delicious. Then we started with the charcuterie board which came abundant with all sorts of goodies (locally cured meats, cheeses, fruits, veggies, honeycomb, and nuts). The board alone was quite filling. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken roulade. The chicken was slightly dry and lacking in flavor. I did try their lobster quesadilla with some clarified butter for dipping which was a lot better than my entrée choice. That's OK, I got fairly full with the charcuterie board thankfully! Perhaps next time I'll try their burger. As far as the place goes, it was nice and classy. I'd like to try their rooftop bar someday. read more

The website states the best food in st louis, which sounds very toot your own horn-ish. However, the food we had was simply amazing. Our in restaurant experience was brief after a trip to swade across the street had me operating waaaay beyond my means. My beautiful fiance enjoyed a cocktail while I pondered all the secrets of the cosmos and shortly after our food was brought out we decided to go back to the room. We shared an eclipse burger and a ribeye. This was possibly the best burger I ever ate (even like 90 min later when I finally felt like eating). The bacon was out of this world! All the flavors were well balanced and delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the truffle oil fries truly did not disappoint. I only wish I was well enough in my own mind to eat in. Definitely stop by this place if you are staying at the moonrise or even if you arent. It is that good. read more

We had a beautiful evening at the rooftop bar and restaurant at the eclipse hotel. We were so lucky to have ideal weather and the views are incredible. I commented to my husband on how much I loved the huge flowering planters throughout. We ordered 3 starters to share, the Mini lobster tacos, the BLT fried green tomatoes and the jerk chicken wings. I would recommend all 3 and they came with generous portion sizes, it was more than enough for my husband and I to share. My husband's cocktail was just OK. So maybe stick with wine and beer. Service staff was friendly. We had to order at the bar....no dedicated servers. I might normally give this a 4 star review but when you throw in the atmosphere and the unmatched views This is a 5 star experience. read more

This is my second time coming to this place in a week. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The service is a little slow because they're under staffed but the food is worth the wait. The Nashville hot calamari was good with a spicy kick and the jerk wings were fried perfectly and crispy. The atmosphere and setup of the restaurant was nice. If it had decent staff and food it could really be something special. But it doesn't. The waiter was very clearly "impared" from hanging out in the parking lot, where we actually saw him as we were leaving. He messed up so many parts of our order. And the food was not what we expected, not very good at all. My husband didn't even touch his soggy fries. I ordered a side salad and he came back and said they no longer have them, and didn't even take it off the check. But we weren't going to wait around anther 20 minutes to get it fixed. Ironically there were salads on the very limited menu. I got the shrimp scampi. The shrimp was good, but the pasta not so much. I just ended up throwing it out. This was not what we were looking forward to, for our anniversary dinner. Thankfully we were in a great mood and didn't let it ruin the evening. One of the hidden gems in the St. Louis restaurant scene is Eclipse, located inside the Moonrise Hotel. The chef, who goes by the nickname Chef DC, should be a James Beard finalist: my wife Pat and I had meals deserving of Michelin stars over two nights: the best fried chicken and coconut flavored grits, spicy, succulent ribs and smoked collard greens, to-die-for three-cheese Mac 'n cheese, curried lamb ribs with mango/ pineapple chutney appetizer, and cornbread the way it's supposed to be, not too sweet-- all of them spectacular. The food took time to arrive-- for a reason! These meals were well prepared and nicely seasoned that made the wait worthwhile The service was attentive, too... Patrice was personable, fun, and caring. We truly enjoyed our late night conversation with her as well. We do suggest management of the hotel and restaurant market their restaurant more-- food like this is special! read more

I am a grad student at WashU, and I have been several times over the couple of years, and I have to say the food is significantly better than it has been during my whole time here! The crab cakes are some of the best I've ever eaten, and not to mention the salmon. The staff has always been overly nice and accommodating at both the hotel and the restaurant. The overall place is very insta worthy and photoshoot ready, but the food in the past has always seemed to be mediocre at best. I am very excited to see these changes! Me and my partner will continue to come in on a more regular basis with all of these very delicious menu changes!! read more

Nice restaurant in the lobby of the Moonrise Hotel. I was only here for breakfast but it was very good. Not too many people eating breakfast that day so service was very good. I imagine even if it was busy, service would have been great as well. Our server was super polite and accommodating. Checking in on us just the right amount and not too much and not just taking our order and then disappearing until it was time to go. The food came out quick and I had a simple breakfast of eggs and hash browns but it was very good. Very good presentation as well. The restaurant itself has some what of a higher end vibe but not in a stuck up sort of way. They had separate entrances thru the lobby of the hotel as well as directly out to the street. There was also a bar with seating as well. Im not sure but I think you can eat at the bar as well. Definitely a nice option if you are staying at the hotel. read more
