Simply put, the food you can cook is predicated by what's in your pantry. That's it. I'm perplexed by the fact that Asian food is still seen as exotic in Miami and restaurants can charge an astronomical amount for food that in other cities would be everyday items. Comparisons are not fair. I learned that from my ex. However, I also don't think it's fair that so many "sceney" restaurants aim to elevate diners' experiences by serving well executed, yet mid-range Asian dishes such as the salt & pepper shrimp and fried rice I recently had at this restaurant. It's become a bit of a formula to have a dj or live act and to cart out (hello nighttime dim sum!) food in a bamboo steamer basket. Listen, I'm all for celebrating Asian cuisine and heritage while aiming for a degree of authenticity. But, to someone who is of this heritage and has had his fair share of Asian food here and elsewhere, this reads facetious and insufferably provincial. Whomever is in charge of the kitchen deserves applause for their hard work delivering a strong interpretation of classic Chinese favorites. Without knowing them, I'd love to think that there are Asians behind this restaurant, but the fact that it it's also a steakhouse pretty much betrays that idea. Michele Visage wisely told one of the contestants in this season's RuPaul's Drag Race that if you're doing too much at once, you're not truly showing what you're capable of. read more

One and done..... we had reservations for 9PM they sat us down at the table and for the next 15 minutes 40 people passed by our table looked and kept walking. no water no service nothing. finally we flagged down a manager and he got someone to help us. the food was just okay not bad but nothing to rave about. it was me and my wife and we had 3 chop sticks asked for one 1 to finish the other pair. we asked for the bacon and they brought out ribs. the place overall is nice but for that price theres way better places we wont be going back. Oh and by the way the ambiance I couldn't tell if it was chill upscale there was even a dog in there. Again one and done. read more

This place is EPIC. Oh man am I using one of those like 3 year old words that is tired? I don't care. When you walk in this place it's just DRIPPING COOL. It's like you become more like Beyonce just walking in here. The decor is ridiculous. I want to have this as my lounge in my celeb-wanna be home. The bar/lounge area is large with plenty of room to hang out and they always have a great DJ playing fabulous music. I also love that there are people of all ages hanging out here and it's all good. No one is NOT mingling. In other words, it's NOT Just a place where it's all 20 somethings or all 50+. The bartenders are attentive and helpful. We dined/drank here 2 nights in a row it was that fantastic y'all! The Chinolita cocktail is muy bueno and so is Wakimono.....for food, you must have the Pork Ribs appetizer they are Slap-Yo-Mama-Good. And the Crispy Shrimp, I have no words for how delicious it is. I had a sushi roll that I don't see in the online menu that was to die for. Just go with your feelings. Everything is amazing. Highly recommend. read more

Went here for a late dinner after a busy day and one of the best meals of my vacation. The calamari was beyond great, and Service was incredible. It began raining half way through my dinner and the staff quickly moved us out of the rain. If you are visiting the Miami, Brickell area I would a thousand percent recommend you visit salty flame. Disney priced drinks without the Disney customer service. Do I want to come back? Yes. Am I going to be picky with the vibes coming from the bartender and chose who to go to? Also yes. Hopefully, I can increase the rating.

Salty Flame gets about a 3.5 stars from me overall. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a really good atmosphere -- upscale, lively, and perfect for a night out. Service was also very solid throughout the evening. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel welcoming from the moment we arrived. The food was a little inconsistent. The steak tartare was very good and definitely one of the better dishes we had. We also tried the siu mai dumplings, which were fine but honestly nothing to write home about. Some dishes throughout the night were flavorful and well executed, while others felt like they were missing that extra touch to really justify the price point. Nothing was bad, but I expected a little more overall. Dessert honestly ended up being one of the highlights. The affogato was amazing, and they also had this massive chocolate layer cake that felt like it was the size of my head -- rich, delicious, and definitely big enough to share. The drinks, ambiance, and overall vibe were probably the strongest parts of the experience.
