The restaurant is one of our favorites! However the Thanksgiving dinner they offered was not very good! The picture of the plate used in advertising it just didn't look anything like the actual meal! Based on both my sister's and her husband's experience here, we decided to try it out. I got the center cut filet with mushrooms and onions and Brussel sprouts. Melt in my mouth good! I've always been a fan of salt grass for decades, but this location never seems to have it all together. The times I've been, the service is lacking and the food is not that great. We go here often for large group gatherings, but the last two have seemed more of an inconvenience. Will find another spot in Conroe for our gatherings. read more

Drinks were outstanding. We were celebrating and they were a nice festive touch. Steak was cooked perfectly along with the green beans and fries. My salad was a bit of a miss though. Tomatoes in the salad were definitely past their prime, and our server had put in the salad wrong, despite asking for clarification. When ready to leave we ended up waiting 25 minutes to get the check. They were having trouble using my Landry's reward because the server had punched in the wrong member number. This is my wife and I's favorite Saltgrass. We have one in College Station which seems to always miss the mark but the one here in Conroe has almost always been amazing. I try to take advantage of their lunch specials which are M-F and knock a couple bucks off the steak and whatnot. Otherwise you can expect to make $15+ for a lunch. It's worth it to me because of their great service and delicious food. I've tried a lot of their different options but the last time I got the Chicken Fried Chicken which is always YUM. My wife got the steak sirloin and had no complaints. Their bread and honey butter is always a must-get as well. We like to sit in the booths in the bar but we don't drink anymore. It's always the most comforting spot in the place. We've done the tables near the kitchen before and it gets a little hectic with waiter shuffling food in and out quickly. So, just take my word for it. This is a great date lunch or dinner place. Oh, and be sure to get the Landrys member club card which gets you $25 for birthdays and point accrual for other bonuses. Texas is known for doing everything big and what do you do when you're in Texas? Go to a chain restaurant because everywhere else closed at 9 and food decisions were made at 7:50. So I was out with some new friends and we needed food and it was our last night in the Lake Conroe area and we wanted to eat at an authentic Texas BBQ place. Clearly that didn't happen as most places closed at 9 and we would've have been able to make it but I knew I wanted to gorge on protein Texas style and Whataburger wasn't going to be an option at all. So I fired up the ole Yelp and began searching but nothing came up until one of our friends simply suggested Saltgrass and with time to spare, we all met up there w/ our party. The restaurant was definitely big if restaurants had personality. The interior looked like a classy steakhouse joint but the vibe was definitely not. The servers and staff were well dressed and very professional but seeing as how we were the 8:50 party of 11, I could tell we were THOSE people. We get sat and some of us got there first and so we began ordering. Looking at the menu, I was deprived of good protein so I checked out their steak options and since it was a vacation for me, I wanted to splurge. I checked out the options and decided on the Porterhouse which was a 22oz monster. At $9 more than the T-bone which was 17oz, it seemed appropriate. The service was alright. Nothing to write home about as our server seemed a bit absent minded but we were sat, we got all our drinks in, and everything flowed relatively smoothly. So let's talk about the food. My steak was cooked to absolute perfection! The meat was tender, it was easy to cut, the medium came out beautifully! The seasoning was a bit much though. It felt a bit too salty and the butter felt like it was just splattered onto the meat which lacked a presentation display. But overall, the steak was beautifully done! I will say, some of the steaks they seemed to leave on the gristle which didn't bode well for some of my friends who order the other cuts but overall, the food was great. It's definitely a Texas based chain restaurant and literally, if you want good steaks, go here. The service is to be question as our server was a bit absent minded and didn't pay as close attention to our table which was a bit offputting but overall, a decent place to eat. read more

Our waitress was Hailey (I hope I got that right) and she was fantastic! Our drinks were never empty, she stayed on top of food, and even fixed my steak for me. We got the pickles and peppers (fantastic) I had the steak and shrimp and don't regret at all! My significant other got the new york steak and it was one of the best steaks we've had when eating out. My husband and I have been going to Saltgrass for years and their steaks are just as good if not better than going to a place and paying $35 or more for a steak. Their beer battered bread is moist and delicious. My husband and I always order range rattlers for our appetizer..they are to die for. There are many options to choose from on there menu. They have large portions, so you may want to share. There lunch specials can't be beat. Happy hour is great. They have many specials. They offer a rewards program that once you reach 250 points you get $25 off your bill. The month of your birthday you get $25 off your bill just for it being your birthday month. If you have not been to Saltgrass you should try it out and don't just go once go several times to try all they have to offer. The one located in Conroe is much better than the one in the Woodlands, so try that location out! read more

He then went and "found" the hostess. Our waitress was good, she was helpful in making my decision for dinner. We had the shrimp jalapeño poppers for an appetizer, they were great ! For the main course, I had the pork chop, served with bacon jelly, loaded baked potato and a garden salad with honey mustard. A month ago I had the best steak salad of my life at this Conroe Saltgrass. Perfect steak cooked medium atop a well manicured salad, serviced by a courteous efficient waitress. Today, however, it was a very different experience. The waiter tried for over 5 minutes to up-sell me on drinks, up-sell me on appetizers, up-sell me on 15 different menu items AND TRIED TO UP-SELL ME ON SOME DAMN DINING FOOD CLUB. When my steak salad finally arrived the steak was barely warm, the salad had several uneatable chunks of lettuce core, wilted green leaves and the onion was just gooey strings and strands. The steak was a bit raw inside and had a fair bit of gristle throughout. So I'm gonna think long and hard before I roll the dice on Saltgrass again. Y'all had it right before... go back to what was done right and dump the up-selling BS please. read more

For this specific location, most of my orders are to-go. If you are picking up bulk orders, the Chicken Laredo is very tasty and travels well. If you order the lunch portion, I would suggest you ask them to cut the breasts in half (especially if you're feeding more women than men). The lunch portion Laredo is delicious, filling, and a hit with my customers. The lunch portion comes with a side as well. I typically do the green beans. They are very good and also travel well (don't get soggy). Also important, this location is pretty good about having your order ready on time. I hate asking for an order to be ready at a specific time and then having to wait an extra 15 minutes. This location usually is prompt. Bottom line - Good food and prompt pick-up times.
