The whiskey selection is excellent if you're wanting to try something you normally can't get at the store or don't have a bottle of. But the food is a coin flip on being great or being average. The deviled eggs and coconut shrimp were great. The brussel sprouts weren't; we order them extra crispy and they were basically blackened from probably being soaked in oil. The brisket sandwich was lackluster and the beet salad was overly bitter since there were no other greens to balance the bitterness. I'd give it another try since the city view is great.

It's a really cute little spot in downtown Phoenix with a full bar and a counter that looks put into the street with window that open in comfy weather. There are some great photo murals and a fantastic order room ceiling We ordered a Wasabi Caesar Salad and a pepperoni pizza to share. Neither of us really tasted the wasabi, but agreed if was a good Caesar. The pizza was sooooo good. They really pack on the pepperoni, and the crust is phenomenal. In fact, it's the reason I like the Desmond so much--that pizza crust! I was passing the guy making pizzas, and stopped to watch him tossing the crust. He was so nice and friendly and kind enough to tell me about pizza tossing. He made it look so easy and fun. What a fantastic young man! He made my visit to the Desmond even better! There is so much to like at The Desmond, and I'm sure we will keep coming back.

We each ordered a pizza but they took almost 45 minutes to arrive, my friend had a simple pepperoni while I had the truffle. The pizzas were ok but at $21 each they weren't worth the wait. When the bill was brought to our table I asked for it to be split by person since my friend an I were paying separately but the staff member split the bill in half so I ended up having to partially pay for my friend's drinks (they ordered something while we were waiting for the pizzas). It's not a big deal but the staff member was like "ok sure" and promptly ignored my request. There was also a 3% credit card surcharge so that was kind of annoying. I left a small tip but that was being generous. I wanted to go to the pub mextdoor but my friend convinced me that we should go here instead. I won't be making a return visit.

This place is very "vintage" and very tiny, but that's just part of the charm. Inside is a counter with around 6 stools and a tiny kitchen next to the door. There's a patio outback with tables shaded by sails, and wooden picnic tables and metal patio furniture in front. There are a couple of cow skulls which really add to the feel of the place along with the Merle Haggard soundtrack. We ordered the roll tacos, the chicken sandwich, and the burger. We were all extremely pleased with how good the food was. I like roll tacos and I eat a lot of old tacos and these were among the best. A couple of us grabbed a beer as well. You have to have your order ready when you enter and order at the counter because they're really can be no Dilly dallying and that small of a space. It was probably my first time being introduced to Irish pubs and the traditional dishes and drinks that they serve. Today, I was walking around near the ASU Downtown Campus and came across Seamus McCaffrey's. I gave it a try for lunch and enjoyed some tasty food and great service. While I didn't grab a drink, I'd certainly consider meeting friends after work there another time. I walked into the bar, and I was literally behind the bar where is was quite dark. Many of the bar seats were taken though I stepped into an area behind the bar where there were a number of open tables where I could seat myself. There was yet another room further back with booths and some creative decor, though I was happy with a table near the bar. The server came right over and made some great suggestions and introduced herself to me. She checked on me multiple times during the meal and made sure I liked what I picked. I ordered an item off the Traditional Favorites menu, the Chicken Pot Pie, which consisted of tender shredded chicken, peas and carrots smothered with herbs in a creamy white gravy under a flaky puff pastry. It also came up with a cheese stick. Both were tasty yet not too filling as I expected. There was a light breaded top to a bowl and then no bread on the bottoms or sides, but that was alright as I didn't need an over-the-top dish for lunch. While the prices are a bit higher than I would have expected them to be, it was certainly worth it, and I'll be back again. Seamus McCaffrey's opened in 1991 and brought a real Irish pub to Central Phoenix. It is a family-run bar that serves Irish classics and pub favorites. From Boxty, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips along with stacked sandwiches, burgers, and starters, the menu is not huge but still feels like it has a bit of everything. They have live music on the weekend and host special events throughout the year. The biggest celebration is its annual St. Patrick's Day street party on Monroe, a Downtown Phoenix tradition filled with great beer, great food, and a whole lot of green. Check out its website (https://seamusmccaffreys.com) to see its menu, upcoming events, photo gallery, and specials. The specials include daily specials, happy hour specials, and a $13 lunch menu. I look forward to returning again this summer!

Post-concert cocktails? Don't mind if we do. Yeah, we were upside down and moving in slow motion. I waited about 12 minutes to be seated, even though no one was ahead of me, while two people who arrived after me were seated first. Once at my table, my server walked past me three times without acknowledgment; it took nearly 8 minutes to get water. When my food came out, I noticed my white toast had been swapped for some odd-looking wheat bread with no explanation. I only found out they didn't carry white toast by asking. No manager stopped by, and communication from the front-of-house staff was nearly nonexistent from start to finish. The one bright spot was that the food itself was genuinely good. Visit 2 (Next Day): A completely different experience. The restaurant was actually busier, yet the hostess was immediately attentive and got me seated without delay. My server, Josh, came right over, was personable, and proactively let me know they don't carry white toast, offering sourdough as an alternative without me having to ask. I also had the chance to chat with Erin, the banquet manager, who brought a warm and welcoming energy to the floor. That kind of manager presence was completely absent on day one and made a noticeable difference. Bottom line: The kitchen is solid, both visits confirmed that. But the guest experience here can vary wildly depending on who's working. When the team is on, this place shines. Here's hoping Visit 2 is the new standard.

Customer service was nice and friendly, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and very unique inside it really stands out. They have an extensive drink menu and some interesting food options, including items like bone marrow. The pricing is on the higher end, more like a special occasion or upscale restaurant. They do offer the option of corn or flour tortillas, but it wasn't clearly mentioned that the flour tortillas cost an extra $1.50, and they are very small. I didn't even need tortillas, and I still ended up being charged for flour when I didn't choose that option, which was frustrating. Another issue was the timing of the food. We were a group of five, and our meals came out at different times instead of all together, which made it hard to enjoy the meal as a group. Also, they don't offer complimentary chips and salsa at the beginning like most Mexican restaurants. You do have the option to order them as an appetizer, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting that standard. As for the food, the flavor was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really stand out compared to other Mexican restaurants. One more thing to be aware of is how the bill is set up. They include a 20% gratuity for larger parties, which is fine, but then taxes are applied after that total. So you end up paying tax on both the food and the gratuity, which makes the final bill feel much higher. That didn't sit right with me. Overall, this place feels more about the experience and atmosphere than the taste of the food. There are plenty of other spots with better flavor and more affordable prices for a regular visit, so this feels more like a once-in-a-while or special occasion kind of place.
