Mac and Cheese (with added bacon), onion rings
    Holly C.

My team and I came here for lunch today, and it was a really solid experience! The restaurant is tucked inside the Hyatt Regency in downtown Phoenix. It looks much smaller than it is from the outside - there's *plenty* of seating inside and out. As it was nice outside today, we opted to seat ourselves (as the sign said to do) outside. Three of my teammates got the Arizona Cheese steak, I got the Mac and cheese (and added bacon, obviously) with a side of onion rings, and my other teammate got the Herb Grilled Chicken. Everyone really enjoyed their food, myself included. The Mac and cheese definitely lived up to its "smoked" title. The flavor was smokey and savory, with juuuuust a hint of spice. Delicious. The onion rings were phenomenal! Delightfully crispy, would order both again! The service was just alright. I have no huge complaints, really - our server was perfectly polite, she just wasn't super personable. There wasn't a lot of chit chat and we had to flag her down a few times for drink refills. All in all, for a fairly prime location in downtown, I'm surprised we weren't on a wait-list to get in. The food was awesome and reasonably priced (the Mac and cheese was $10, and adding bacon was another $6), and the location is close enough to walk to from work. I'm sure I'll be back!

Was stating at the Hyatt Refency hotel and this restaurant was in the lobby very conveniently located. The restaurant and bar are open until late night. There is also a to go format right across which is open even later You order food and drinks at the bar and someone gets it to you. The staff was very friendly. The patio had an event going so I sat at a table next to the bar inside. The bar decor is unique with huge pipes going that look like snakes. I had a coupon for drinks from the stay which included house beers and wines. I got the house cab as the drink Also got the chicken sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese - Very tasty and filling

Love the indoor/outdoor of this restaurant. Nice indoor area, but beautiful patio and bar as well. Came for lunch in between conference meetings and had a fantastic sandwich with fries. The bartender was very friendly and made me feel very at home even though I was eating alone. It's on the bottom floor of a hotel so lots of people coming and going, and very easy to get to. Fairly quiet and comfortable lunch spot.

Went on a Saturday drink and stroll trip through downtown and our last stop was Barrel & Bushel. Had a pretty solid time here! Dylan, our server, was awesome--super friendly and attentive. We asked about the sidewinder fries, and he hooked us up with a sample, which was a nice touch. Drinks first: I went with the Lavender Peach with Highwest Double Rye Whiskey--it's got lemon, lavender honey, vanilla syrup, and peach bitters. The aroma is light and refreshing, with a little bit of bitterness from the rye and bitters. It's a great drink, but you definitely need to be into whiskey to enjoy it fully. Hubby tried the Keeping It Kiwi--Smirnoff vodka, kiwi, vanilla, ginger, and lemon. The kiwi flavor is super strong, but in a good way, and the vanilla and ginger balance it out really nicely. The smell kind of reminds you of a summer day, freshly cut grass, and a cold drink in hand. Really refreshing. I also had a Humphrey's Hefe from Lumberyard Brewing in Flagstaff. It's very orange-forward, kind of like a Blue Moon, and super easy to drink. Now, let's talk food. Dylan brought us a sample of the Sidewinder Fries, and they were really good--crispy on the outside but soft inside. They're like a mix between curly fries and potato wedges, which is awesome. We split the Cajun Grilled Chicken Sandwich with jalapeño slaw, pickles, lettuce, garlic aioli, grilled sourdough, and onion rings on the side. The chicken had a perfect char on it, and the onion rings were crispy and well-seasoned. But the sandwich itself was a bit dry. I honestly couldn't taste the aioli, and the slaw didn't have much dressing. The pickles were more sweet like a bread and butter style than tangy dill, which I loved, but overall, the sandwich didn't blow me away. The atmosphere is nice--definitely a hotel bar vibe, but with a huge open patio, an outdoor-facing bar, and plenty of fans to keep things cool. I'd definitely come back to try more of the food, but the cocktails and the patio make it worth checking out.

This indoor outdoor restaurant is located on the main floor of the Hyatt Regency in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. It's a great location within walking distance of so much of downtown activities (baseball, basketball, Herberger theater, convention center, etc). We've grabbed a drink on the patio after a Dbacks game and staying the night at the Hyatt. It's always great to have a good bar restaurant in the staycation hotel. Also, I recently sat outside at the bar for lunch on a weekday before seeing a show nearby. I enjoyed an early afternoon lunch sitting at the bar watching SportsCenter highlights and soaking in the beautiful April AZ weather. The bartender smiled and greeted me right away. Food and drinks came quick. I started by sipping on a refreshing cocktail called Keepin it Kiwi (Vodka, kiwi, vanilla, ginger, lemon) and ended with a heavier cider on tap. The bartender helped me decide between two cheesy savory sandwiches by steering me towards the carnitas grilled cheese (pork, Pepperjack, fried jalapenos, chipotle aioli, sourdough). It was a delicious chill solo patio lunch before walking across the street for lunchtime theater at the Herberger.

Enjoyed a nice evening on the patio here. Very open and spacious outdoor seating. The vibe was chill and a great spot to hangout after work. Service was good though the waitress was cut and dry compared to experiences with wait staff at other restaurants. Food was served hot and was tastey. I enjpyed the onion rings and chicken wings together. It was a good experience overall.

If you're looking for a spot to grab drinks with friends, Barrel & Bushel is a solid choice. However, if food is a priority, it may leave you wanting more. The food, to me, tasted like overpriced basic bar food which is not a bad thing, but nothing about it stood out as WOW. I ordered the Carnitas Nachos, which were served as loaded fries. While the portion was generous, the flavors didn't quite deliver anything memorable. It was decent, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. That being said, this place thrives as a drinking spot--the atmosphere is great for unwinding with a cocktail or a cold beer. If you're coming in expecting exceptional food, you might be disappointed. But if you need a casual, lively spot for drinks, Barrel & Bushel will do the job. I definitely recommend to in the bar/patio area.

My friend and I were nearby two days earlier and saw the $5.00 happy hour drafts sign. We were certainly enticed. We were back in downtown Phoenix for a baseball game and decided to pop in. We arrived a few minutes after 4:00 and had no problem getting a table. Our waitress was average at best (main reason for 3 stars). We didn't need a lot of attention but some attention would have been nice, Eventually she took our drink orders, then food orders. I had the steak sandwich and fries which was outstanding! I was drinking the Church Music IPA which was also delicious. My friend enjoyed his chicken sandwich. Overall you are in the lobby of a hotel. There are different eating options available (inside/outside). The restaurant got extremely busy by 5:00. The food was tasty, it was just the fact the service was average at best, otherwise I'd definitely stop here again while in downtown Phoenix.

My excellent birthday dinner, card and gift!

I am absolutely blown away by the hospitality at Barrel & Bushel. I'm staying at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. I called the restaurant to inquire about my dining options, and mentioned I was celebrating my birthday week while enjoying the spectacular view from my 20th floor room. I spoke with Mike who happened to be the manager - such a friendly guy! He said I didn't need to leave my room, but just wanted me to tell him what I wanted and give him about 15 minutes. I told him I'd like the Mango Salmon entree. Mike personally delivered it to my door on a rolling tray, as though it was room service, in less than 15 minutes! In addition, he surprised me with a massive piece of chocolate cake with white cream frosting on a china plate beautifully decorated with caramel sauce, a birthday card from him and his staff, and even a cute Hyatt-branded plush birthday candle toy. He insisted it was on the house! The dinner was excellent - all was cooked to perfection. It's rare to find this level of skill, genuine care, and kindness, all in one package. Thank you, Mike, Frankie & Daphne, for making my birthday so special and memorable! I'll be sure to come back to Barrel & Bushel any time I'm in Phoenix!

While staying at a nearby hotel and walking back and forth to the convention center, we stopped in here one evening for drinks. We sat ourselves in the bar area and a bartender actually came out and greeted us quickly and told us it was counter service here, which was fine. We got our order together and went to the bar and waited several minutes for a bartender to come to that side of the bar so we could place our drink order. The drinks were decent... nothing spectacular. When it came time to pay, had a similar issue as trying to place the order, had to wait a while. The venue is quite large with lots of tables. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, I wasn't impressed. A great experience would be across the street at the Dust Cutter in the Renaissance Hotel, we really enjoyed that bar while in town.

Located inside the Hyatt regency Phoenix hotel in the main lobby on the first floor. Indoor and outdoor seating and opens up into the lobby area. We sat in the bar area. Had to order at the bar. They bring out your food. Friendly customer service, Parking at the hotel has valet or self park in a garage across the street. We ordered the pork belly, b&b burger came with a side- I chose the fries that were more like twisted wedges, and onion rings. Food was good. And there's live music w-f 6-9p.

We each ordered a pizza but they took almost 45 minutes to arrive, my friend had a simple pepperoni while I had the truffle. The pizzas were ok but at $21 each they weren't worth the wait. When the bill was brought to our table I asked for it to be split by person since my friend an I were paying separately but the staff member split the bill in half so I ended up having to partially pay for my friend's drinks (they ordered something while we were waiting for the pizzas). It's not a big deal but the staff member was like "ok sure" and promptly ignored my request. There was also a 3% credit card surcharge so that was kind of annoying. I left a small tip but that was being generous. I wanted to go to the pub mextdoor but my friend convinced me that we should go here instead. I won't be making a return visit.

I waited about 12 minutes to be seated, even though no one was ahead of me, while two people who arrived after me were seated first. Once at my table, my server walked past me three times without acknowledgment; it took nearly 8 minutes to get water. When my food came out, I noticed my white toast had been swapped for some odd-looking wheat bread with no explanation. I only found out they didn't carry white toast by asking. No manager stopped by, and communication from the front-of-house staff was nearly nonexistent from start to finish. The one bright spot was that the food itself was genuinely good. Visit 2 (Next Day): A completely different experience. The restaurant was actually busier, yet the hostess was immediately attentive and got me seated without delay. My server, Josh, came right over, was personable, and proactively let me know they don't carry white toast, offering sourdough as an alternative without me having to ask. I also had the chance to chat with Erin, the banquet manager, who brought a warm and welcoming energy to the floor. That kind of manager presence was completely absent on day one and made a noticeable difference. Bottom line: The kitchen is solid, both visits confirmed that. But the guest experience here can vary wildly depending on who's working. When the team is on, this place shines. Here's hoping Visit 2 is the new standard.

The cozy, intimate comfort of what used to be Coup des Tartes blended seamlessly with the deep, peaceful, gentle "love" you felt from House of Tricks into one calm, warm, easy spot. Farish House is a real, soul-warming experience across the board. The service, care, comfort, ambience, food, value and clear love they put into everything make Farish House our new favorite place. We walked through the front gate, up onto the front porch and inside where we took one of three small tables in the cozy front salon of this soul-warming 1899 French Bistro. *Food: we started with a bottle of Australian Cab. Shockingly good. And not crazy expensive, especially on Thursday when bottles are 30% off, it was an amazing deal. Turns out, the owner, Greg, was in the wine distribution business for several decades, curating wine programs for top Valley restaurants, so he really knows his stuff and their vast wine selection is amazing. We were offered a basket of truffle popcorn, mmm, salty, crunchy, and rich. We ordered the Chef's Selection Charcuterie and Warm Noble Baguette & Marinated Olives to get started. Both were beautifully curated, balanced, and incredibly high quality. The flavors and textures blended perfectly. with cheeses broken from large wheels, rather than cut and sliced, house-made pickled grapes, unique and unusual ingredients, smokey meats, compound butters, just awesome! We then moved into one of the cozy dining rooms and ordered the slow roasted Peposo Short Ribs and fingerling potatoes pan fried in duck fat served with Moroccan spiced aioli. Both were rich, warm and delicious. For dessert, and yes we thought we'd explode from all this food, we ordered a massive slice of bread pudding, some of the best I've ever had, rich, gooey and incredible. Along with that we ordered a beautiful Espresso Martini and an off-menu banana cream martini. Their drinks are not "poured" or mixed here, they're balanced and expertly crafted. This is French Bistro comfort food at its finest and it's unmistakeable. *Service: it just doesn't get better. Everyone working there is "family". And that's how they make you feel; like family, cared for, wanted, welcomed. Service isn't a choreographed masterpiece, no tuxedos, cloths draped over arms, napkins frantically re-folded when you step away, dishes served and cleared in unison. No, it's relaxed, warm, friendly, kind, like being at your grandmothers house and knowing you're surrounded by people who care. Met Greg and Katherine, the owners, and their daughter Alexandra and several other "family" members taking care of us. Their appreciation for your presence is unmistakable. *Ambience: it's just plain comfy, cozy, easy, relaxed, warm, deep, gentle, worn (in a good way), wise, and calm, that's the best I can describe it. Hard wood floors, cozy rooms, soft, warm lighting. It's a non-pretentious, French bistro that feels like the home of a favorite grandma or great aunt living in a warm family cottage in the outskirts of Paris. *Value: it's perfect. It's not ridiculously expensive like Kai, Brinkley's, Cafe Monarch, Christopher's, or French Laundry where you go, "okay, that was fun but we'll only do this very occasionally/rarely and it's probably worth it, but dang that was pricey!" No, Farish House is 100% value to experience, not cheap, but not overpriced, the balance is just right. It's a place you can go often, and we will. Yes, our meal with apps, drinks and dessert, some on happy hour and the Thursday wine special, was around $200. I'd happily say this experience was worth every penny. *Overall: I can't recommend Farish House highly enough. Parking is on the street or in a nearby lot, and that's a downtown thing. There's a small lot in back. The food, ambience, service, quality, and experience were stellar. I wish I could rate them 6 stars instead of just 5. I'll return often and highly recommend Farish House to everyone. I genuinely hope you enjoy as much as we did!

I was lucky enough to have both of the owners (Kathryn and Greg) come by and greet us.
