I moved to the Seattle area from Chicago about two years ago and haven't been able to find a salon that I love until today. With only a few days before Thanksgiving, I figured it would be close to impossible to get an appointment, but to my delight I called and got a same day appointment at Salon Joseph. The stylist that I saw was Heather, and she is simply amazing! I told her I needed a change but wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my hair. She spent 20 + minutes consulting with me and even brought out photos to show me exactly what her ideas would look like. Heather was happy to spend over an hour to cut my hair, making sure everything looked just right. I was very impressed. She did a great job with my color as well. Prices here were reasonable, I was able to get a great cut, color, and two products to take home for under $140. Seemed pretty fair for the service that I received. By the way, Macrina's Bakery across the street is super tasty, check it out if you're going to be in the neighborhood. read more

Monica at Salon Joseph-Pure Awesomeness!! I don't write reviews all that often, but I really make it a point when I feel as though NOT passing the information along is a crying shame. This is one of those instances. I have been a client of Monica's for 5 years. She consistently over delivers on every aspect of my salon experience. From color to cut to styling she is a shining star. Not to mention her customer service. She consistently goes above and beyond. I have referred several people to her, often stemming from a random person stopping me on the street asking "Who does your hair?" Monica!! Enough said. read more

Andrea is the best- she does such a good job. I can give her ANY photo of a hairstyle, or just describe what I would like- and she can do it. She is really fun to talk to also. 5 stars. :) read more

My friend with good hair referred me to Salon Joseph, so I called this morning and the very personable receptionist helped me set up same day appointment. I initially followed my friend's advice and asked for Anna, but I ended up seeing Karalee. I'm so glad, because she was fabulous! She listened carefully to my hair backstory/requests and seemed to understand exactly how to fix my fine, un-voluminous, overgrown mop. Usually stylists nod and smile when I tell them I'm a wash-and-wear girl (or at best, a wash-and-blow-dry girl) and then give me a haircut that it takes them 30 minutes, 5 products, and 3 devices to style. (It looks great the first day and never looks that way again.) Karalee gave me EXACTLY what I asked for... simple, classic, and easily styled with just a brush and a hairdryer. As a bonus, Karalee was very friendly and talkative without being annoying, which is an art form unto itself. AND the cut was $55, which is about $30 less than I've been paying in California. Double bonus!! Salon Joseph rocks!!! read more

Ashley was terrific. One of the best haircuts I've ever had. Lots of compliments. Nice work. I'll be back. read more

A 3 min walk from home and fantastic colonists and cuts. People drive from all over to come here. I'm so lucky.

It has taken me years to find a great stylist! I found Monica through a friend, and will never change! Not only does she get my hair perfect every time, I don't tell her what I want. I let her creativity flow, and she always makes me happy with the ideas she comes up with! Not only are her skills and creativity awesome, I love that it's not awkward sitting there while she works. Conversation flows freely and she has a great personality! Abbie. read more

I followed Anne here from Greenwood Academy of hair. She is one of the few stylists that can give me the haircut I want based on a photo. She also was happy to spend over an hour on my hair to get it done just right (it wasn't an easy cut). They just remodeled a bit. Their interior is very tasteful. They offer coffee here while you get your haircut, and Anne told me that they have even done champagne or wine at different times. I called and made an appointment for the same day. The prices here vary based on how long the stylist has been there. I believe my haircut with Anne was $35. read more

FYI -- Gy is back at Salon Joseph. Joseph and Gy gave me a GREAT (amazing) cut -- I came as a "hair model" for Gy to train on, presumably as part of his rejoining the Salon Joseph team. Both Gy and Joseph worked together, and put astonishingly intense effort into making sure it was immaculately cut and styled. I was amazed at the attention to detail, and focus on making my hair *absolutely* perfect. Yes, it was a free cut in exchange for my time and a willing "donor" head of hair, but I am definitely going to return as a paying ($$) customer. read more

I've been going to Ashley at Salon Joseph for over three years now, and I really cannot believe I haven't posted a review yet. I spent ten years bouncing from salon to salon until I found her. First of all, she is an amazing person. She remembers everything about you and I have a blast coming in to see her. Oh yeah, and did I mention she does AMAZING hair. I moved from Queen Anne to West Seattle awhile back and made a horrible mistake by trying out a local salon... worst decision ever. When it's amazing, the drive/bus ride is worth it. Her color skills are top notch. She's done everything for me - matching my natural color, subtle highlights, chunky highlights, blue and purple highlights... you name it and she's an expert. Her hair cuts are amazing - she never takes off more than you want and you leave feeling great. She listens to you and is honest about what your hair can take and doesn't try to get you to come in more often than you need to. I've even been able to get my boyfriend to go to Ashley when he isn't trying to grab a quick trim during his lunch (he looks so much better when Ashley cuts his hair!). My daughter has now become an Ashley fan and says she wont go anywhere else. Go there - see Ashley. You'll be happy with your hair! read more

It was my first time at Salon Joseph and the place was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The salon is large and well kept. The receptionist was super sweet offering coffee/tea as I walked in. Tessa gave me exactly what I wanted! I had long hair and was looking to go a lot shorter. After eight or so inches she gave me a look that was perfect for my face. She was super sweet and very easy to talk to. Will be back soon for some highlights! :) Thanks so much! read more

I have been going to Emily for probably the past 2 years. I have jumped from stylist to stylist and nobody seemed to get it right, a lot of them turned out botched actually. Then I randomly got placed with Emily one of the first few visits with Salon Joseph and Iv'e been going to her ever since. She REALLY knows her stuff and creates amazing looks, especially balayage. She is very good about getting your hair to the color you want while keeping it healthy. She works well off pictures (so make sure your bring some in to show her). I was super cautious about trusting past hair stylist with my hair, given I have had so many horror stories in the past, but I trust Emily 100% to give me a beautiful look. read more

Joseph redid my hair as promised! the cut is great and looks good even unwashed. He was very thoughtful about it and touched up my highlights as well! read more

Admittedly I ask a lot of a stylist - not only does my hair need to look amazing when I leave the salon, it also needs to look almost as cute when I neglect it at home. I have an aversion to styling products and a personal aesthetic most accurately described as "terminally lazy." As you can imagine, I end up disappointed more often than not. This is why I'm convinced that Ashley might be a witch or possibly part unicorn. She is the rare stylist who can transform the garbage I give her to work with - my inconsistent hair texture, myriad cowlicks, and the aforementioned laziness - and consistently deliver a cut that even I can't manage to muck up styling. I found Salon Joseph through Yelp, so I'm passing on the info to others who might be in search of a new stylist. Just make sure you book your appointment with Ashley well in advance so that she might still have an occasional last-minute appointment available for me, okay? read more

Monica Potter always takes the time to LISTEN to what I am looking to achieve with my hair. That is the most important element when collaborating with a client to decide on a hairstyle. When I have had ideas that were unrealistic, she always makes sure to let me know that it won't work and why and then suggests something that WILL work for my hair. She has an incredible talent and equally as impressive personality. She never ceases to make me laugh. Monica is continually expanding her education by taking classes in New York and Texas and is always eager to try new things. She has been doing my hair for 10 years now and I will never see anyone else. I recommend her to everyone who asks me where to go. Another awesome thing is that her hours allow you to get in for a morning appointment before heading into work so you don't have to tie up your precious weekend at the salon. If you are looking for a new stylist, book an appointment with Monica, I assure you that you won't regret it! read more

I love Monica! I don't live anywhere near Queen Anne, but I can't imagine going anywhere else!

So, I am growing my hair out. And it has been looking ferociously bad. Like someone made a mullet out of an old mop. It was depressing, and I was having total Facebook envy of all my friends with their photos of great hair and fun parties. Being newish to Seattle, I didn't know where to go, so I looked at salons within walking distance of my apartment, and lo and behold, I came upon Salon Joseph. Happily, they were able to fit me in that afternoon for a cut and color with Andrea Z. Andrea Z. was amazing. She listened--in fact, she asked me to tell her WHATEVER I thought she needed to know about my hair situation. I've never had a stylist do that before. She spent a long time going over my different options, plus even more time helping me decide what to do about coloring. Most importantly, she did a wonderful job with my hair, the result being a super cute in-between lengths hairstyle that doesn't look like an in-between lengths hairstyle. She also helped me look at the bigger picture for growing my hair out--which generally made me feel better about my hair in the cosmic scheme of things. read more

Emily, I really did not appreciate your horrible and amazingly unprofessional attitude during my appointment. Plenty of other salons in Seattle where they will not actively be rude to you for no reason. The other stylists seemed polite enough, but I do not suggest seeing Emily unless you think rude people are fun. read more

I saw Anna last weekend for a full foil and cut. I brought in a couple of photos which depicted a look I wanted to try; this was going to be a pretty big change for me, and I was a little apprehensive as this was my first visit to both Anna and Salon Joseph. After a warm and sincere greeting, she took a look at the photos and then at my hair. I began telling her in more detail what I was hoping to achieve while she listened intently, asked great questions, and provided amazing feedback. She clearly understood what I was hoping to achieve and then advised what would need to be done and how it would she would do it. I left the salon elated. I can say with complete honestly that after many, many years of having my hair cut and colored, I have never left a salon this satisfied and happy. I love, love ,love my new look. The color is AWESOME (I'm now a blond), and the haircut is perfect! My hair looks healthy and polished. I have never received so many compliments. If you want a true professional that is genuine and can produce amazing results, you must see Anna. read more

Tried calling today to make an appointment and was clicked over to hold within seconds of reaching the receptionist...no "please hold" or anything. Not the best first impression for a brand new customer. Wont be trying to make an appointment anytime soon. read more

I wish I had 10 stars to give Salon Joseph - and more importantly, Andrea Z!! I went in today for a cut & color and walked out an extremely happy gal. I had my first baby 2 months ago and was looking drab and worn out with long frumpy hair to match. I was feeling crappy about how I was looking lately and feeling much older than I am, so I decided to get the color and cut I so desperately needed. Andrea had cut me before I was pregnant, almost a year ago, at her former salon. I lost touch with her after she moved to Salon Joseph but was lucky to track her down through Yelp. She listened to me for almost half an hour when I arrived about what I would want done and offered suggestions as to what would look best. I've never had any stylist invest that much time in a consultation! My hair is super thick and was pretty long - I needed a full color to cover all my gray, plus I wanted highlights. She even asked Joseph himself to come over and offer suggestions as to the best way to accomplish what I was looking for. Then, for the next FOUR HOURS she turned my head from a drab, boring, old-mom style to fabulous! She took four hours out of her schedule to completely color my entire head, then went back in to foil the highlights. She said even though it was a lengthy process, this was the best way to achieve the tremendous result I was looking for. I am grateful she took the time to do it right. She is very detail oriented and made sure it came out perfect. And the cut? Again, there's where her attention to detail comes in - she made sure my layers were perfect and framed my face beautifully. Bye-bye boring locks, hellooooo beautiful! I can't say enough about her or the rest of the wonderful staff there. If you are looking for perfection, go to Salon Joseph and ask for Andrea. She will make sure you leave feeling happy, refreshed and satisfied. I will be back - Thank you, Andrea!! You are amazing! read more

So I left Queen Anne for awhile, but now that I am back I realized I needed to go back to Salon Joseph! I had grown out my hair for my wedding and was ready for a big chop and new style, so I went to see David Hewitt at Salon Joseph. He was amazing! Easy to talk to and spent time asking me what I wanted and discussing options. I said I love the look of a side bang but hate the maintenance and he helped create a great alternative for me! I love the cut and am looking forward to going back to David for some color. Clean and spacious salon with wonderful people and an easy location. Highly recommended! read more

I had been getting my hair done at different shops around the city then I found Lisa. She has given me the best cuts! Along with that, she gives a complimentary clean up in between haircuts. Go see her! read more

Salon Joseph has a great location on upper Queen Anne, usually lots of parking. They also have a great group of hairdressers, who do all cuts, color, but also updo's for special occasions. I have gone twice before events to two different people, and it turns out you can't go wrong. They are also expanding into the office next door, so more good stuff to come. This is an excellent place, and great for men too. read more

I saw Jennifer today at Salon Joseph for the first time. She is fairly new to the Salon. I was a little hestitant but Salon Joseph has amazing hair stylists. She gave me an awesome haircut and told me what we would do for the next session if I liked her thinking. Yeah, I'll be back. read more

Monica, Monica, Monica! I can not express high enough praise for the fantastic haircut I received. It is brilliant. Did not know my hair could look this good. Brought a picture in to give Monica an idea of what I was going for and boom...my hair looks exactly like the pic. I've always felt if you get a good haircut you shouldn't have to fuss with it. It should fall into place naturally after being exposed to wind, rain or a restless night sleep. Mine does and I couldn't be more pleased!!! read more

Have been seeing Jonathan for more than 10 years now. After leaving the area and coming back, and after trying to find someone else more convenient (crossing 520 is not fun) at Gene Juarez and other high-end salons, I finally realized that there simply isn't anyone better. Here's to another decade at Salon Joseph. read more

Cassandra was awesome, even on one of my personal worse days. My hair and I thank her

I love Monica P at this salon. I will definitely return for another colour and cut!

Great place for a top notch haircut. Reservations recommended. Great staff, location, and experience in general.

Michelle at Salon Joseph is fantastic in every way! She's been hair professional for over a decade and recently moved to Salon Joseph. She does a fabulous job on color and cut every single time! She listens to what you want but also offers suggestions as she gets to know you and your hair style. I cannot recommend her enough. Salon Joseph is a great atmosphere too with friendly and professional staff. read more

LOVE, LOVE to spend time at this salon, Joseph is amazing and his team is nothing but a group of rockstars. No drama, snob free and simply the best hair you'll ever get, if you're in Queen Anne or close, you have to visit them. I just finished getting a cut and color from Ashley. I have to say that she really does a beautiful color. My hair was brassy and she gave me beautiful dimension. This lady really knows her color! I feel like a new woman. As for the cut, it is a modern uncomplicated style that I will have no problem working with. Ashley is fun and happy and makes you feel great. Definitely going back to her. The salon is a pleasant space with relaxing lighting. You are greeted with friendly smiles and the atmosphere is relaxing. If you are looking for an easy, nice and wonderful new place to pamper your locks, check out Salon Joseph on Queen Anne and sit in Ashley's chair. You'll be happy! read more

I have had the pleasure of receiving 2 services here. I got a wonderful asymmetrical bob with perfect graduation in the back. I have very thick hair with some texture curls and waves. Cassandra (Casper) did such fantastic work that it looks great straight or air dried. She really put a lot of effort and precision in my cut. I also had a sitter cancel last minute on me so I had to bring my 4 year old with me. The staff and owner were so sweet to her! Joseph gave her a special brush for curly hair that she adores and now insists that she must use it to do get own styles every day. I came back a week later to get color done with Joseph and Casper. My hair has never been so fantastical! Joseph did a balayage over my dark brunette hair with beautiful lapis blue and violet. They went over it with a gloss that had straight violet in it that blended the colors and made my hair so shiny! The end result is a magnificent oil spill on black pavement effect. It glimmers and glistens in the sun with total radiance! As soon as I left the salon someone yelled from their car they loved my hair! read more

I am SO picky about my hair. Although I seem to always want an edgy cut or something new ... Monica knows how to cut my hair the way it should be cut. Monica at Salon Joseph is who I go to. I had to give up my last salon due to miserable parking. What I love about Monica, besides her talent, is her hours. She starts as early as 0700! For an early bird like me, that's music to my ears! I can get in, get it done and start my work day without skipping a beat. Never a parking issue ever! She is awesome and is all about getting it right for you! I highly recommend Monica! read more
