Been coming to this salon for a while and changed to Mitchell to see he lived up to his stellar reviews. He does! He listened to my request to look "edgy" (but not TOO drastic) for a short chunky haircut. It's great. I'm happy with my new look. read more

Wonderful neighborhood beauty salon. Mitch listened carefully, and did a great job cutting and styling my Asian hair texture. He also gave great hair care advice. read more

Mitch Cunanan is brilliant. I've followed him across various North Seattle salons for over 20 years and won't let anyone else clip my thatch. He's superbly talented, a fun conversationalist, and knows how my hair responds to various cuts. read more

The whole salon is sooo cute. I hear the owner has two frenchies and they're extremely cute I've been seeing Ahna since Julyish 2022 and she is THE best. If you're in Ballard/ Fremont or crown hill area you need to see her! (If you can get an appointment with her) she is very booked n busy !! I always try to have two standing appointments with her so I make sure I get the time and get I prefer. Ahna always has a detailed consultation with me and really pays attention to detail. She has taken me from neon green to BRIGHT orange and now to blonde. I'm thinking about switching to magenta the next time I see her! The integrity of my hair is never compromised and the whole experience from start to finish is always so relaxing read more

I wrote a previous review and thought I'd update it. This is really a great salon. I see Renee who does my coloring and cut. My kids and husband see Ahna. We really love it here. It's nice and quiet and everyone does a wonderful job. I really can't reiterate how great it is. Check out my hairdo from today: read more

I had to cancel an appointment with Ahna at the Olive Beauty Lounge. My daughter needed me to take care of my grandson because of a bad situation had happened to him at school. Ahna the hairstylist texted me that she would still charge me for the haircut because of it being under 48 hours to cancel the appointment. I was so surprised. I have never in 50 years of getting my haircut had my hairstylist do this to me... even when they have a 48 hour cancellation policy. We always give each other grace. I went to see her face to face to talk about it. She would not change the charge. I had made an appointment with her two weeks out. I cancelled it because I do not want to stay with someone who does not treat a person with grace. read more

Nicole is a wonderful stylist. she is also very caring and attentive. I just recovered from a positional vertigo when I visited her last time. To prevent triggering my vertigo symptom, Nicole came up a new way to shampoo my hair. Plus I really like my new highlight and cut. Thank you, Nicole! read more

Ahna did an amazing job on a jewel toned balayage a couple weeks ago! She took time to explain the process to me to make sure I was comfortable (I'm a hair color newbie) and took her time making sure the colors were what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with the results! Would definitely recommend, and will go back for more fun colors in the future. Also, the salon is taking all precautions they can with covid. read more

Surprising side effect; not being able to quit smiling. Seriously, I love my new bob! I was cut by Ahna, and she did a great job making sure my hair had no loose ends, and she knew exactly what I wanted down to the vintage bang shape. I have fine hair, and this style makes my hair look very full. Thanks, will get cut again! read more

I've been here for every haircut I've gotten for the past several years. I always want the same thing and my barber always remembers what it is and does it right. Comfortable chairs in the waiting room, friendly staff, easy online scheduling, never had anything to complain about. They have good covid protocols in place too. read more

Ahna is such a dedicated, skilled stylist and colorist. She puts so much care into every step of the process and it's clear how invested she is in getting a beautiful result. At one point we started talking about toners, developers, and international regulations... she knows EVERYTHING, and shares it enthusiastically, because she really, really cares about her work. All the staff are so friendly and have wonderful rapport with their regular clients. I'm so glad to have found Olive (and Ahna!), and relieved that they're right here in Ballard. read more

I have been searching for someone to bleach & tone and cut my pixie cut for a while now. Mimi was recommended to me by a friend, and let me just say she is AWESOME! She has such a fun personality and makes going to the salon a treat. She really took the time and listened to what I wanted with my hair and knew exactly what to do. The salon itself is in a great location, and is cozy inside. Everyone was very friendly to me! I will be coming back to Mimi for all of my hair needs and I am so happy I found someone who can really do my hair! read more

I already reviewed Joie when she was at Babalouise, but let me just say that I followed Joie over to Olive Beauty Lounge, and I could not be happier. I LOVE JOIE (and my hair does, too). And boy does she get me. When I asked her if I needed to cover up my grey, her response was, "Well, how do you feel about the grey?" I told her that I LOVE grey and grey hair, and she said, "Do you want to dye it grey instead of brown?" Yes. Yes, I do, Joie. If you're looking for great short haircuts or a fierce grey dye-job in Seattle, look no further. Joie is your girl. read more

I was in desperate need of a hair cut after moving to Ballard, and I wanted somewhere near my house. My hair has not looked as good as it does now I'm a long time. Very happy with the quality of the service and my hair cut. Fun, unpretentious salon and stylists who let their work shine and make you comfortable like an old friend too. I stopped looking as soon as I found my stylist here, and even my former stylist loves my cut! read more

Malorie! She is spectacular! My hair is naturally a really beautiful deep brown color. I started getting quite a few grays in my early 20s, then in my 30s I started getting my hair colored to get rid of the grays. Malorie has completely perfected the color! It looks so natural that the other day I was sitting out in the sun with another woman and the other woman said to me: "I hope that this isn't offensive, do you get your hair colored"? That's how natural the color is & what a great application Malorie does! read more

I followed my trusty stylist, Joie to Olive after she recently moved from BabaLouise. I love the setting of Olive. The atmosphere is sleek and sophisticated. You get your choice of coffee, tea, or water while you wait. Street parking is fairly easy to find as it's tucked back in a residential area. As always, Joie did a stunning job on my hair. I would follow her anywhere! Lucky for me she only moved right down the street. Prices are reasonable. read more

I am in love! So first let me give you a little background. I have long, THICK, naturally wavy hair. It gets to the point where wearing a ponytail and going jogging gives me a headache. Every time I get a haircut I ask them to thin and layer it but it always seems to turn out choppy and frizzy. So I have been very hesitant to get my haircut. I go maybe one or twice a year to get a really good haircut. Aka $30+ otherwise I go to the local super cuts and just get a maintenance trim. I know shame on me. Anyways on with the review!!! I was in a desperate need of a haircut I was searching yelp like a mad woman and then I came upon Chelsea J's review. She sold me on the place. So I made an appointment ASAP with Joie. This girl is fun, fierce, and knows her stuff. She played with my hair and knew exactly what I needed. She shampooed my hair and gave a head massage which felt amazing!! She cut and layered some of it wet. Then she blew dry it and finished the layering and thinning to make sure it's smooth and not choppy. Oh my, my hair felt SO light and airy. It's NEVER felt like this before. I looked at the ground and I'm pretty sure it looked like a furry animal on the ground. Chopped a lot of hair! She did MAGIC! I absolutely love my hair and how light it feels! I am someone who has suffered from many bad hair cuts. There has maybe been two times in my life where I was happy after a haircut and this is the second time. Go to Olive Beauty Lounge and see Joie! She will give your hair the treatment and revamp it needs!! read more

I have no idea how I haven't reviewed this place already. I should have a long time ago. Anyway, when I moved to Seattle two years ago I quickly realized how terrible this city was when it came to getting a good men's haircut. In San Francisco and Los Angeles it was easy and affordable. In Seattle you have Rudy's (meh) or a detective search to find somebody. Luckily a friend of mine referred me to Renee and she has been fantastic. I tried a few other places but never walked away totally satisfied. And the kicker is that Renee is barber trained which means she actually knows how to give a men's haircut. (Believe me, just because someone can do women's hair doesn't mean they can automatically do men's hair.) Olive Beauty Lounge is a salon and there is a lot of women's hair styling going on, but you see quite a few guys coming in and out. Renee and Levi are the two barber trained people so if you're a guy, get an appointment with them. Renee has also given me a great cut and listened to what I wanted while also gently guiding me back onto the path of acceptability and what I would actually look good with from time to time. She also gives you a quick neck/head massage which I wish would last 30 minutes and washes and rinses your hair pre and post cut. She's the owner of the place and a guy's cut runs $60 which might seem like a lot, but in a city where a good men's cut is hard to find, it's worth every penny. Rudy's is find if you want a 2 on the sides and a 4 on top with a side part, but it's a factory. This is a place to get a cut that is actually enjoyable, fun, and, most importantly, consistent. I've never walked away unsatisfied. And if I somehow did, I know I could go right back and get it fixed without any issue. read more

Renee has done my challenging hair twice, including once for a color correction and this past time to blend a my over-processed, fine hair's grow out with extensions with excellent results. She also removed my old protein extensions and consulted with Hilary on cut/placement of new mixed tape extensions (which also look great). I believe she can tackle any hair challenge with grace and with the customer leaving 100% satisfied. She's a pleasure to work with. I've had custom color work (leopard print in the side of my hair) by Angela that turned out beautifully--even though it was her first time doing that kind of color job. Highly recommended! read more

Malorie is the best hairdresser I've ever had. Great personality, amazing technically and so pleasant to be around. 10 stars. Additionally all the staff there are super friendly and make every visit such a pleasant experience read more

I have trusted Renee with my hair for 8 years. Every single time I have been thrilled with the results! Booking online is a snap, she is always on time, she has never had to reschedule me, and she is an awesome conversationalist. I feel like I am hanging out with a friend, not just getting a hair cut. P.S. She just opened her own salon and it is gorgeous. Go Renee! Go check it out! read more

Scheduled a next-day appointment here after absolutely losing my patience with my sad droopy frizzy curls, and came to find that Texas is an absolute gem!! He gave me exactly what I wanted in my layers & volume, and led me in the right direction re: which BB products would be best for my hair. I've already scheduled another appointment with him for next week for a balayage and I just cannot wait!! Thanks Texas =) read more

OMG we just had the best experience in this hair salon.my daughter is 15 and i have always just taken her to beauty schools to get her hair done because i didnt want to pay a ton of money on her hair due to her changing her mind every 6 months about her hair what she wants done and;LOL.well i thought i would try a "real" salon and what a difference in quality and customer service. We met "TEXAS" our hairstylist and we loved him! he was hilarious, courteous, and we had the best time!we laughed so hard and he was honest with us about what can be done with my daughters hair and it turned out perfectly. He works quickly and precisely and he is sure in his element there! I will recommend him to everyone i know and will definitely be back! Thanks Texas! Kay and Marissa! read more

Pros: -Online scheduling (I am a terrible planner when it comes to my hair cuts - I usually go on a whim) -Super friendly staff! I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in. -Levi was a great listener and gave me the exact haircut I asked for! Cons: None! I went out hair stylist soul searching and I think I've found my spot! read more

This review is long overdue. I had a hard time finding a good hair salon in Seattle, but I had an amazing experience here and am so happy I found this place. Ahna made me feel so beautiful and did a fabulous job with my balayage and brazilian blowout. She didn't rush even when the salon was closing, made me feel comfortable, and even stayed longer to really make sure that my hair looked as perfect as possible. I was super impressed with her talent as she does not have much experience. However, she has been by far the best hair stylist I have ever had, I have no doubt she will be extremely successful. I will definitely be returning here. Highly recommend this salon. read more

Just went for my first visit and they gave me a great deal for a haircut! One of the best salons I've been to. The store is located in a cozy residential location which makes the entrance very welcoming. After entering I treated myself to some free coffee which they offered and barely had to wait at all for my appointment. Mimi was my stylist and she was very communicative and did her best to do exactly what I wanted. She asked many questions before starting which was great. The shampooing was relaxing and she was meticulous in doing my haircut. It turned out clean and just what I asked for. Overall, great experience and I plan to go again for my next cut. read more

I was actually really disappointed with my cut. It was uneven and when she dried it, it was flat and looked awful. I have never looked worse AFTER my hair was cut and styled before. I usually have great luck with yelp and after so many great reviews I expected it to be at least ok. I asked for a simple trim, nothing difficult. I wish I remembered which girl cut my hair, but I forget her name. I know she told me she hasn't been there long. read more

I'll never go anywhere else in Seattle! I first came here after a coworker recommended it and I've been referring my friends ever since. Mimi is so talented and so much fun to talk to. She's helped me through some bad, partially grown out bangs and was there for me when I told her I wanted to look like Taylor Swift. I really look forward to my haircuts every time because I know I'm going to have so much fun chatting! Also, is there anything better than having a French bulldog puppy sit on your lap while you get your hair cut?? The pricing really can't be beat. I could easily be spending double what I pay at Olive Beauty Lounge if I went to another salon in Seattle. read more

Cute atmosphere, welcoming vibe, very friendly staff! Ahna is the sweetest and will work with you to find something you love. Will definitely be returning. read more

I started going to Olive a few years ago and haven't gone anywhere else! I love just the overall vibe and theme of the salon- it's very elegant but still fun and casual. I absolutely love the online booking system- it's so easy to schedule with your favorite stylist. Since I started going to Olive, I saw Ahna every time and she always does an amazing job. She was super helpful in keeping me looking great as I shaved my head and started to grow it out again (a process with many awkward stages of length). I definitely recommend Olive- it is great salon and you will not regret coming there! read more

Got a referral from Chelsea J. to see her stylist Joie. I have a lot of hair issues as a lot of women do...I was looking for a new stylist that would be sensitive to my needs, attentive, and actually listen to me. Not to mention I was looking for someone who gave great cuts for less than what I have been paying at Seven (side not, Seven is mostly wonderful, it's just not realistic for my finances). Joie was so wonderful. She gave me a great cut, she was fast, and she was affordable. She listened to me and respected my wishes. As a first time client I got 20% off, which was an unexpected surprise. I hope she sticks around for a long time, because I will be forever a client. read more

I want to give this salon 5 stars, because I love Joie Belknap, but I just can't ignore the fact that I liked going to see her at BabaLouise better. The salon itself is beautiful, but the front desk staff are a bit snooty. I have never been offered any beverage, except by Joie, and the receptionist was a little rude when I accidentally left my flat iron last time. All in all, Joie is an amazing stylist and I trust no one else with my hair, but she is a rock 'n' roller, a mover and shaker, with a big voice and fierce attitude, and it just seems this salon isn't as cool as she is. read more

I liked Renee, and she really seemed to know what she was doing, but my cut just an hour later doesn't do what we planned for it to do, even with product in it (far from my favorite thing, btw). For $65, I need more than that. Sorry to break your run of 5 star reviews. :~[ read more

Joie was wonderful. I loved the hair products she used and she took my dry witchy long hair and cut it so it feels perky and fresh. I really liked her warm personality. I will definitely go back. It was generous to offer 20 percent off for new customers. read more
