I'm from out of town and Thien saved my hair with a last minute blowout appointment for a wedding I was attending. He totally delivered and was so kind. At first I wanted just dry styling but he accommodated me when I changed my mind to do shampoo + style. The price is beyond reasonable for the area which was a great bonus! I'm so lucky to have found this place!! My hair was in desperate need of color correcting. I had box dyed my hair back to black a few days ago, but it was too dark and unnatural, and it was patchy. Hair Bliss saved me. The lady there was so professional and knew exactly what to do to fix my hair. Only three hours later, I came out with the hair I wanted initially when I box dyed it. My experience with Natalie was awesome! She spent her time on counseling to give me the best fit for my hair which makes it look nice and less damaged. I got the haircut and balayage from her which was around 6 hours. She was really quick on putting on the bleach and color but also paying attention on details so the color could blend more evenly, which impressed me a lot. She is a total rockstar at lash extensions!!! I usually go for a more dramatic look. Longer, fuller, sometimes even curlier look and she never disappoints. I thought really long and hard before posting this review because I felt so conflicted. I was conflicted because I really liked my stylist as a person. She was really nice and friendly and tried so so hard to get my hair looking good after requesting a balayage and showing her a picture of what I wanted. The problem...it did not look good at all. I wanted to like this place, I really did. I live so close to it, the price is reasonable compared to other salons that offer balayage, and the two stylists who work there seem to love what they do and are genuine people. But I feel like by not leaving this review, I would be doing my stylist a disservice by not letting her be aware as to the terrible balayage job I received, and I would be doing potential customers a disservice by potentially having them go through what I did this past week. Last Saturday I called and was able to get an appointment immediately. I went in around 12:45, and I left close to 6...it took over 5 hours from start to finish with no interruptions, no food or drink break, and constant sitting in the same position to get my hair done. That already indicates to me the lack of expertise in doing balayage as I have gotten this service done from several different salons before and it never took more than 3 hours. The stylist was extremely polite and asked me if I was okay/needed water/was hungry, so I truly appreciate her hospitality during the experience. I also appreciated how detailed she tried to be in getting it done. She had dye on her arms and bleach splashed on her face by the end of the appointment so I really can't fault her for her dedication and attempt in getting it right. What I was disappointed about was that I could tell about 2/3 in, that the sections of hair she was bleaching was getting thicker and thicker with no separating with a fine tooth comb or back combing at all. She would grab chunks of hair at the top of my head (almost at random it seemed) and begin painting it with bleach. Again, I have had balayage done many times before and every single time I have had the stylist do a zig zag motion with the comb to get fine strands of hair out and then back comb it to get more hair out of the way before bleaching the sections. So I start squirming in my seat and ask her if it's going to be chunky, and she tells me no (with so much certainty). She asks me if I know what balayage is (nicely) and tells me it's very different from highlighting as if to say she knows what she's doing. So I trust that she does know what she's doing and let her continue on...I see the chunks of bleached hair as she releases the foil and I begin to panic. I think to myself, ok maybe it will get better with toner. No...I kid you not, my hair looked like an orange helmet was on top of it by the time my appointment was over. I was sooooo sad and upset that I didn't even want her to style my hair and I just wanted to throw it in a bun and leave. But she insisted she would curl it and make it pretty so I let her. At the end she grabbed a mirror and spun me around so I could see the back. She was so excited as if it was a work of perfection, and I could not for the life of me tell her how much I hated it. It had been 5.5 hours. She turned away several customers to continue working on my hair. She seemed so happy with her work. And she had dye and bleach all over her....I paid her $230 including 20% tip and I left...soo defeated. All throughout the week I could hardly look at myself in the mirror and I worked to cover it up the best I could by putting it in a tight bun every single day to work. Thank God I was able to book an appointment today to fix it somewhere else, but after all is said and done, $450 is out of my pocket for a balayage job that should have been half the price...I unfortunately will not be back here. The 2 stars are simply for the effort and time and hospitality. read more
