The food and service at Sala Thai is remarkable. I got the spring rolls which were flavorful and fresh. I also ate the Pad See Ew. I got the spice at a 1 level, however could've handled it at a 2. I'm not big on spice but I would've liked a hint more w this dish. The service was great and the kind waitress was willing to give good suggestions. Overall, I was pleased with this meal and even ordered more spring rolls to take home for a snack. The ambiance was amazing and it's definitely date night worthy. read more

Go early and go often! Incredible food and worth the wait if you arrive during the rush. The ambiance is new and clean, great vibes. We had the crispy garlic wings to start - so good. But I personally judge Thai restaurants by how they make their Khao Soi - this one was incredible! The service was good, but not excellent. Still 8.9/10. I'll be back! read more

Came for lunch for our favorite. Thai! Ordered two orders of Shrimp Spring Rolls, Larb and Madsuma Curry. Spring Rolls were exceptionally scrumptious, with an explosion of various flavors. Super good. Larb and Curry with large bowl of rice was also very delicious and everything came very quickly. Our waiter was very quick and friendly. Love this place! read more

Food is legit. I got the red curry spice 3 and loved it. Thai tea helps cool you down.

Found a new favorite Thai joint! I got here when they were just opening for the day. Service was very quick and the food excellent! Tried drunken noodles with beef at spice level 4. Was delicious and spiciness was what I expected. Will be back to try more from their menu. read more

Out of all the Thai food restaurants that I have tried with my wife and friends, this one exceeded our expectations to be the best in Arizona. The flavors and their thoughts of merging the right ingredients together to make each dish taste so delicious. My favorite is the Khao Soi (Curry Noodles). Will definitely keep on coming here whenever it comes to thinking and eating Thai food. read more

I am pretty picky when it comes to Thai food and this place is as authentic as it gets. It feels like you're sitting at your family's house eating a cozy home cooked meal. Me and my gf drove all the way here from Phoenix because we heard it was a amazing dine-in but unfortunately right when we walked in, we were served negatively by a lady with two high pig tails in blonde with some tattoos under her eye. The food was delicious and the cooks did amazing job! The customer service was very very bad and rude and disgusting. She acted like she didn't wanna serve us and also treated us very differently from the rest of the customers. She also handed us the egg we later added to the order as if she wasn't happy to give us because she put it and didn't mentioned anything and left it on the other side of the table. Overall, the food was very tasty and delicious! I wouldn't come back if this type of workers are working for such an amazing place. Thank you! read more

Awesome food. Amazing food presentation delicious food, service was good. The actual spice level is what it is. Typically when I get Thai I spicy and it's not even close to what I had in mind. But this place does a great job my girl friend ordered a 3 which had great flavor and was delicious. I ordered a 4 and it was fantastic. Definitely coming back. read more

Some of the best Thai food around. Owner is amazing, he's also the chef, he's driven to show how great Thai food is. Ambience was chill and relaxing, a good time with friends or just eating alone. Open super late on Friday and Saturday, so nice spot to sober up too. Compared to the other restaurants of the same name, this place is smaller but packs a street punch. read more

Well prepared, authentic, delicious and well priced. I was visiting Tempe, but would definitely come back here. Great service too

I love the ambiance in the restaurant. It felt like a hole in the wall small cute Thai restaurant. The employees are sweet and nice. I love the various selections on the menu. Most of all, I love how they have non common Thai food. Most places have food like pad Thai, curry, pineapple fried rice, and thai basil chicken but they have street food items which I love! The hours they're open are interesting. On Fridays and Saturday's they're open till 1AM which is nice for people who finish work late or want a quick bite after being out drinking. I got the BBQ red pork and it was delicious! I'll come back here for sure! read more

This place is "good" and if it were within walking distance I would probably grab takeout every other week. But with so many truly exceptional Thai restaurants in the Phx metro area (e.g., Zen Thai; Thai Recipe Bistro), it cannot garner 5 stars. The staff was polite but entirely unengaging. You order at the counter, prepay, pre-tip, and then grab a table. Serving sizes are actually slightly smaller than what I would call average. We shared several entrees: Tom Kra Gai (coconunt milk soup) which had good flavor but the quantity of chicken was just modest and it also needed an additional side of rice to be ordered. The Moo Ping grilled pork skewers were extremely fatty, rendering nearly 1/4 of the contents inedible. Next time, the chicken sate! The yellow curry with tofu was terrific. The tofu was softy and almost creamy (not pre-fried/firm) that was different but delicious. On the (big) plus side, their curry dishes come with a bowl of rice included! That was the norm years ago, but most Thai restaurants have disingenuously resorted to charging $3 extra for any entree that de facto requires rice. We liked that you could choose hot/spicy level for every entree and 3/5 was exactly that... just enough heat to get your nose running! Sadly, they were out of mango sticky rice. We decided to take a chance on the fried bananas and ice cream. The banana pieces are about 3 inches long, wrapped in thin pastry (like thin egg role pastry) and then deep fried. The coconut ice cream was good but all three of us would pass on this dessert next time. If I was nearby and had a hankering for Thai, I wouldn't hesitate to pickup an order here but if I was taking company out, there are more premium options available. read more

It's a very small place very tastefully decorated and comfortable. When I lived in Tempe I got take out one time and it was excellent. I dined in this time as I was passing through and was not disappointed at my dine in experience. Fast and friendly service and good fresh ingredients in the food. I usually get a curry at a Thai restaurant but tried the Larb salad. It was delicious and plentiful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Thai food experience read more

Hostess was a dip. Picked up $236 in food ordered online and she complained we didn't order more than 24 hour ahead of time. Also charged a 3% fee that was not listed on the receipt nor online when I ordered. Had to later compare my credit card statement. Don't go here, they are crooked and offered horrible service. read more

My daughter is the one whom found this place & HOLY COW!!!!!..... It was probably one of the BEST Thai places we've ever eaten!! We love yellow curry & it was SO DELICIOUS!!! & Kayla our server DEFINITELY made that restaurant a 5 star with her service!!! Shrimp Pad Thai. Great authentic sauce, great noodle texture, high end appearance with shredded vegetables on top. Nice decor and ambiance. I really liked it, but if they could use "tail-off" shrimp it would be better. I have to remove the tails myself,(OMG, the horror). read more

If you're looking for a different Thai food place in Tempe, you won't be disappointed @Sala Thai. They have authentic dishes but what makes me (and two other guest) really like, is the street menu. I love spicy food and their "Thai hot" is - you've been warned! The host was very generous and notice my guest was struggling with "Thai spice" level, he offered Thai tea (on the house) to help cool him down lol (really funny , he did look like he was gonna pass out from the "Thai spice" ) We'll be back to get their fried chicken as it sold out when we visited. I'm getting that + "Thai hot!" next visit. It's a small space, I wouldn't bring a family of 10 but I'm sure they would be happy to accommodate with a heads up. Very friendly and attentive (joyful, too) staff! See you real soon, Sala Thai! read more

The asthetic and ambiance are great. We loved the atmosphere while dining here. The food was delicious. The two gentlemen working were very friendly, and attentive. Went here because it was the only restaurant open late at night. Wasn't expecting much but the food was really good! Tom Kra Gai- soup was sour, creamy and hearty. Order spice level 2 but could've went for a higher spice level. Moo Ping- soft and tender meat. The sauce complemented with the meat. Phad-Se-Ew- generous portions. Noodles weren't soggy. Thai Fried Rice- completed the whole meal. Flavors were just right. 10/10 would come back and try other dishes. read more

Was a bit frustrating to get in, mostly because it's a tiny resto. Remember how I said Mae Khong Thai Tapas in Mesa was tiny? This is even tinier. Parking is tough too, tiny shopping strip here. But it is closer to us, and so, we put up even with the laminated sign occasionally saying that they're restocking and so will not be open when they're supposed to be. Fine, fine. Finally at table, ensconced on one of their loveseats, the thing to get here is Thai street food, small plates, shareable. Everything is good. We got the fried chicken, delish contrasts of crisp texture, spice, and the chicken, we got the grilled Isan-style sausages, fantastic northern Thai/Lao staple, big herb and spice hits mixed with the fat and meat, we got moo ping, these grilled marinated pork skewers. Big surprise for us was the khao soi, also a Northern Thai staple: a riot of contrasting textures in crispy and soft noodles and flavors and colors in a delicious turmeric yellow coconut chicken curry. Finally, the staff are warm and attentive without being cloying. Whew, exhausted just writing this review. TL;DR: Sala Thai are not afraid of big flavors and neither should you. read more

I've lived here for years and their drunken noodles is by far the best I've ever had. Forget Thai spices and Thai basil - this is the spot.
