We came here finally for my moms birthday and it was a good experience. The service was quick and efficient. Our server was nice and very attentive with refilling our water or asking if we wanted more drinks. Moving on to our hibachi chef. He was hilarious and he made our whole table laugh ( granted everyone at our table was chill and was real social. Which is what I enjoy about hibachi grills). I wasn't able to get his name but he's the one with a tattoo on his arm!!! In all honesty having a charismatic and lively chef makes the experience more memorable. Everyone laughed and had a good time! Now moving on to the food. I was the odd woman out because I ordered sushi while everyone ordered from the hibachi grill. One quick reminder is that when you order sushi it will come out while the chef is cooking the hibachi orders. I had no problem but it makes it a little awkward if you finish before everyone else. I ordered the avocado and salmon roll, the eel and cucumber roll and shrimp tempura roll. It was very clean and fresh. No fishy taste. Plus it was good without soy sauce. Now my mom shared some of her food because she couldn't finish it all. I felt the food was good but a little lack luster but I can understand that not everyone has the same spice tolerance. I feel you have to heavily rely on condiments. The noodles and veggies where okay. I mean they were on the greasy side but had a nice crunch to them which I appreciate (I hate soggy veggies). Lastly the miso soup and salad where on point (very good)!! The miso soup wasn't overly salty and it had a very clean refreshing taste. The salad is pretty basic but that ginger dressing made it so much better. Now my favorite drink is the Hibiscus sour. It's very dangerous because it taste like juice. All the flavors just go together. They garnish the drink with rehydrated hibiscus flower. It was nice and sweet. My mom got the karate punch, she likes and I hated it. It tasted like kids cough syrup. Usually I like fruits and rum together but this was a no for me. Overall the hibachi chef made our experience amazing! I wish I got his name because he was super funny and chill. I would purely comeback for him and the sushi of course. I've got to say compared to my other yelper friends; I had a much different experience than y'all did. I actually quite enjoyed myself and also enjoyed the food. My friend and I split a bottle of sake and had delicious sushi that I will remember to return to. Service is excellent and she was very attentive to her needs. We didn't have many demands, but nonetheless, she still was there when we needed her and right on point. Too bad that I don't remember her name because she's worthy of a shout out on here. This place is actually very large on the inside. From out looking in, it's very deceiving to think this place can be small. It's opens up to the dining room where sushi lovers can gather along with bar seating and sushi bar seating. When you go in the back; you come into the hibachi tables where they have several of them. This restaurant is so deceivingly gigantic, it blows my mind every single time I come here. The front portion of the resto is dedicated to sushi-only diners, and is bigger than most sushi restaurants I know of on its own! And then you walk into the back where all the hibachi tables are, and it's like it stretches on for daaaays. Hibachi/teppanyaki itself is something that has gotten less and less awesome for me the more I do it -- I think it's the novelty wearing off thing? I mean, it's usually fun when you go with a group, since it's an interactive dining experience, and the food isn't terrible, of course, but there's kind of a "been there, done that, bought that t-shirt" factor to the whole shebang now. Of course, every once in a while you get an amazing teppanyaki chef who makes the whole thing incredibly fun, but alas, that's not the experience we had at Sakura. First off, even though the resto was basically empty, they still made us wait forever and a day to be seated and to get our drinks. I think maybe they were a little short staffed on chefs, because even after we got our drinks, it took a while to place our orders, and then it was another billion years until our chef actually came around to us. The show and food itself was fine, nothing spectacular, but all the waiting around really didn't enhance our experience and was kind of a killjoy. I guess on the plus side, the drinks here are actually pretty cheap -- I got one called the Tazuki... or something... anyway, it was like a mai-tai/pina colada-type cocktail on crack and it was delicious. Really recommend this spot for hibachi! We called ahead and they advised us to make a reservation -- so glad we did because there was definitely a dinner rush! I'm giving 5 stars because they were SO accommodating to my gluten free diet, the chef prepared my food first, with GF soy sauce of course, and asked if certain things were okay before doing it. They were knowledgeable about what had gluten and offered alternatives (yum yum for the salad dressing). And it was so delicious! First off I should mention the place itself is beautiful, I love all the wood and traditional Japanese garb! I had no idea this dinky strip mall in Tyson's housed something so pretty! I was here this weekend for a gf's birthday with a group of 7. The hostess told us initially the could not find our reservation-- the birthday girl had made it herself and called to confirm it the day before so this was irritating. But instead of simply apologizing for the mix up she acted like we were trying to pull one over on her. Fortunately the manager on duty was nearby and she apologized and had us seated quickly. Our server was efficient, but not particularly friendly. She seemed annoyed we didn't know what we wanted as quickly as she came back with waters, but she only gave us two drink menus for 7 of us, so that should have been expected. She also seemed annoyed with one of us that wanted sushi and came back to the table a few times before remembering to bring back a sushi menu for her. To her credit she did ask us how to split the check before it needed splitting, so that was nice. I was not impressed by the left over food on the ground in the cooking stations. You sit at the grill, so I would think between groups they would clean up the discarded bits and pieces, but that was not the case as far as I could tell. On the other hand our chef was extremely entertaining. He joked with us the whole time and really made it a nice experience. As for the food: I ordered lobster and scallops, which I thought would have been the first things off the grill since they required the least amount of cooking time, but they were actually last off, making them extremely tough and chewy as they were over cooked. The flavor was heavenly though, or would have been, so that was disappointing. The veggies, rice, soup and salad were very tasty. At the end of dinner they brought a mini cheesecake to the birthday girl and sang to her, which was sweet. Fresh sushi and great for a reasonably-timed sitdown lunch. On weekdays, they have a lunch special of $11 for two rolls (6 pieces per order). The proportion is not overly heavy on the rice too, which I applaud them for. Whether or not they have a lunch special, I like to do the sashimi appetizer (6 pieces total of yellowtail, tuna, and salmon) for $7.50 with a $5-6 roll. This leaves me satisfied but not overly full. Fish is fresh and perfectly cut! Spicy rolls are not the leftover fish crud either! I've also had the rainbow roll and salmon skin rolls before. Our hibachi chef seemed like he was over his job and there wasn't really a show. The amount of food you got was little in comparison to other Hibachi places. The rice and meat and veggies was a small portion. Maybe because it was a lunch portion? But even for that it seemed small. A good one time experience but I would visit some other Hibachi places to see what they're like as well. Lunch not the best for Fried Rice. Here is the scoop. The ginger salad was really good and fresh. The steak & salad was the best part. I wish they served the shrimp with the steak vs well before like it's an appetizer. I am used to Benihanas as they give you a shrimp appetizer and with your meal, here it's one time, so know that upfront. The fried rice tasted like day old rice and was on the harder side. I personally also don't like lots of corn in my fried rice. The veges were not crisp as they should be. I am not sure if the they downgrade the lunch service, but I paid a dinner price. I've been here twice in person and ordered delivery probably 100 times. I like that their sushi is nicely moist. Like anything with mayo, you can legit see the creaminess. Good avocado texture too. I also like that they give me plenty of soy sauce packets and the delivery orders are never dripping with spilled soy. I thought the sushi was a bit overpriced for the quality but nonetheless, my bf and I liked our dynamite roll (probably wouldn't get the salmon/avocado roll again tho) I ordered the Kaki fried (fried oysters with cutlet sauce on the side) because I enjoy indulging in fried food and raw oysters & thought it'd be a good idea to get 2 for 1 but NOPE. Sohee's stomach could not handle the fried oyster combo for some odd reason so will not be trying that here or anywhere for a while. Proceed with caution on the fried oysters in general unless you're in Baltimore. My bf ordered the beef teriyaki but it wasn't anything special. Wait, what just happened? This was definitely a last minute "ooooo, let's try that place" the outside of the restaurant is pretty cool, the door frame is shaped like a Japanese door but the rest of it is... Ehhh! The hostess explained that the front was for sushi only and the hibachi was towards the back. It's a very big restaurant but SUPER dirty :( Their bathrooms were very dirty and sticky from the door to well, you can picture the rest. (Double yuck)! The hibachi grills were very dirty and didn't seemed that they were cleaned properly (which I figured out later why). The waitress came out in their cute traditional outfits which was nice and exciting but that's where our excitement ended. The soup was good, salad good, then the main course began and it was very sloppy. Not the worst but also not the best Hibachi I've been to. The chef had rice flying all over the place, the meals were made out of place and he didn't even bother cleaning the area that well. I was so lost by everything that was happening that I don't even remember my night! Came for dinner with a couple friends while in town visiting and had a pretty good meal. Started with a few different sushi rolls which were fine but, if I lived here this would not be a sushi destination based on what we had. The cooktop table dinners were also good but not great. One different touch was the option of chicken livers for your appetizer. Of course I had to pick them if for no other reason than to gross out my friends. The livers were plentiful but cooked to death and dry. For the entree, I chose the filet and scallops. Again, pretty much middle of the road in terms of flavor. The restaurant itself is in a strip-mall plaza, but very spacious and decorated inside. If you've ever been to hibachi, you know exactly what to expect. For under $30, I got the chicken and steak combo entree, which came with a small app, broth soup/salad, and rice and veggies. They include an 18% gratuity with parties of 8 or more. Because they cook all the food on the griddle in front of you, you can't expect your meat to be cooked exactly how you want (I ordered my steak medium and it came out more medium-well). We were in the area visiting the "Holy Trinity" (Marshall's, Home Goods & TJ Maxx) when we were feeling a bit peckish. Normally, we'd just go to Super Chicken, but we had Peruvian chicken not too long ago. Upon discovering that I haven't frequented a hibachi grill since a third grade field trip to Benihana, my boyfriend decided we should dine at Sakura. When we entered the restaurant, we were surprised to discover that looks can be deceiving and this unassuming strip mall restaurant was quite spacious and well appointed. The front part of the restaurant consists of the hostess stand, a sushi bar and lounge, with tables for those who don't want teppanyaki. The remaining 2/3rds are the hibachi grills. We were seated with six other patrons and our server took our drink orders and brought us salad and soup. Most people order steak or surf 'n turf options. Our chef comes out and he's pretty good, but it's more fun if you participate in the whole cheesy dramatics. Which means if he's tossing a rubbery shrimp at you, give it your best college try to catch it with your mouth, darn it! Otherwise, what are you here for? You're paying for food and entertainment! I noticed that the chefs are more engaging if there are kids at the grill but our table had some pretty reserved people. They seem to loosen up later on in the meal. We left very full with a lighter pocketbook (teppanyaki ain't cheap) and a few culinary tips. I never thought to put garlic compound butter in my fried rice before but now I can't think of doing anything else! Also, don't feel too squeamish about the chicken livers. They are pretty tasty! The show is always loud, fast, and mechanical. I was there with the kids and they had a blast. The magic has worn off for me, unfortunately. Food is just okay. The ginger salad is refreshing but the soup that follows looks and tastes like someone made it using ramen packets. Steak was good, cooked to the correct doneness per request but the beef was low quality and excessively lean and dry tasting even though mine was medium-rare. I have loved this place since 2008. The spicy tuna roll and spicy California roll are to die for (and I have had sushi in Japan many times). I love the salad and miso soup too (and bonus: I paid about $18 for all of the above on the lunch special). There's a pretty decent lunch and dinner crowd but I have never had to wait more than 10 min. The hibachi is fun and is in a large area in the back (a great activity for groups or if you are hosting guests). I'm not a huge fan of the shopping center parking lot (very busy and a little confusing) but other than that, no complaints. Service has always been good. Highly recommend. read more

Although my parents don't love sushi, they regularly rave about this place. I recently visited for my first time & now understand why they love it so much. We ordered hibachi with some friends & enjoyed the entertainment that the chefs offer while cooking our food. Our waiter cracked several jokes, especially at my expense for eating plant-based. The staff was very helpful & accommodating in informing me of my options & ensuring that I was satisfied. One member of our party did not want hibachi, so they offered sushi from a different menu.
