I usually order delivery.com from Sakura and the sushi is very good. Today i had to stop by because i was over charged for my last order online. The place is clean, I see an A in the window from the dept of health. Also they do ALOT of deliveries, the phone will not stop ringing. And we know, when it comes to restaurants (especially raw fish) turnover is everything. The fact that Sakura is selling more fish means it will likely be fresher than it's slower competitors. Also I only ever order sushi here (sushi & sashimi combos and sushi rolls, eel avocado, spicy salmon, white tuna avocado, sweet potato, oshinko, etc.) But I see that fully half the menu is cooked food, tempura, don buri, curry rice, tako yaki (octopus balls) and other real japanese specialities. Definitely going to try some of these in the future. Note: this location is still hood, so if you are coming for more than than a loud meal in a spartan dining area, I would recommending take out or delivery. read more

I ordered a pretty good amount of food late one night. The food came at a reasonable time and it was very fresh. Some of the best options for seafood where I almost couldn't choose. But I appreciate the amount of time and thought in the special rolls. I have an urge to try every one of them. The only thing is that I did get it in delivery so naturally the fried ice cream wasn't as crispy as I would like. I ordered delivery yesterday through seamless. It came really fast-about 20 minutes, but they had sent me shimp udon soup, instead of just shrimp noodles, and when I called them, the woman argued with me that I placed my order wrong, when I was looking at my order on my computer. She did send me the noodles really fast however. Our food was ok. My noodles were pretty bland, the soup was bland, but the volcano roll was delicious and big. Great delivery service. The food was at my door about 30 minutes after I ordered, which is great considering the amount of food I ordered and that their restaurant is 2 miles from my apartment. My dishes arrived hot and my ice cream arrived cold and not the slightest bit melty. I approve greatly. The spicy chicken rolls were delicious. The udon noodles in the chicken udon lunch special were perfectly glutinous, even if the overall dish was slightly bland. Overall, it was a good meal for a solid price delivered quickly. It's about time I wrote a review for this place. My husband and I have ordered delivery religiously for 1.5 years, since we moved into the neighborhood. PROS: -Delivery time is fast! -Prices are awesome! -Food is great. -Every component of their takeout containers are recyclable (BIG thumbs up!) -They have brown rice options, even for the rolls (we get this every time, except for one time that we forgot to ask) and they are as tight and well made as the white rice ones. -The same woman who answers every time, remembers our apartment # before I complete my address and remembers our order! One time we decided to stray from our norm and she asks, "no Philadelphia roll?" It was great! -They take credit cards over the phone. I hate cash only places. We have never eaten in, only delivery, so we don't have anything to say about the actual space. CONS: none, order form here. Though the delivery times can be inconsistent, the food is consistently good. My big recommendation is the lunch special, a great value at as little as $6.75, depending what you get--the teriyaki chicken is a great option. It comes with gyoza/shumai/california rolls and a very tasty bowl of miso soup. I thought the gyoza portion was a bit skimpy the one time I ordered it, but everything else I've had has been good. The curry dishes (I've mostly had the chicken katsu) are great, and the rolls are solid, though I'd recommend sticking to the basics for the best value. I ordered through seamless before I read the yelp reviews of this place. Like everyone said delivery called and said that he was downstairs. I didn't mind getting my food because I'm not too far from the entrance of my building, but still other deliveries came to my door or asked to be buzzed in. I ordered the lunch special. I picked salmon avocado, peanut avocado and shirmp tempura roll. I also got the pork katsu as well. The peanut avocado roll was good, but the salmon and shirmp tempura didn't taste fresh or was really soggy. I haven't tried the pork katsu yet because it looks very unappetizing. I ordered from here the other day. I don't usually order food for delivery, but since discovering grubhub, I have become addicted. I ordered the chicken teriyaki deluxe combo. It came with chicken, rice, shrimp and vegetable tempura, six piece california roll and salad. The food was great. My only complaint was that the chicken had a lot of pepper on in. I'm a big fan of pepper, but they over did it a little bit. I also got a side of their spicy mango sauce, which was delicious and had a nice kick. Overall, great meal at a great price. The first time I ordered was fine. The second time I ordered--yesterday, I got the salmon combo. I regret eating here. The food came within 35 mins and when I took bite out of the salmon roll it tasted funny and later that evening I felt sick to my stomach. I have ordered from this place online at least a dozen times. Each time I've instructed them to call my cell when they're outside since there's no doorbell, and they've never had a problem with that until today. When I checked my email to see the progress of the delivery, I saw that the delivery guy attempted to deliver but claimed I didn't answer the phone. I checked my phone which had been sitting next to me the entire time, and it showed 0 missed calls. I checked my voicemail and there was a voicemail, so I concluded the cellular network screwed up and gave the restaurant a call to let them know what happened. The woman who answered was rude. After I explained the situation, she asked me 3 times if the number I gave them was correct and/or working. It is, as I was calling her from it and they've called that number a dozen times before. Then she accused me of simply not answering my phone and told me I better answer it when the delivery guy comes back. When the delivery guy came by again, he gave my phone a ring. I answered and told him hello, to which he said "Are you going to come down or what??" When I answered the door, he handed the food off to me without a word or a single glance, and I told him he was being very rude. This place is the best Japanese restaurant in crown heights. They have the fastest delivery and order time I have ever seen. The food is never short of great and this is the one place in the area that does not break your wallet. I wish the women on the phone spoke better English. The miso soup tasted like it was made from powder, the tempura did taste like plastic but because I was hungry and it's raining and I've spent fifteen good dollars already I peeled the batter from the vegetables as best I could to eat them. Order here all the time for delivery. Fast delivery, cheap and delicious. Chicken or pork katsu is a fav as well as the curry versions of either (you get a tub of curry sauce with some veggies in it instead of the ton katsu sauce). Most of the combination specials are an amazing deal, so much food for $11. Noodle soups are also delicious and hearty. Sushi is decent as well for the price. I really wish I could rate ZERO stars. I ordered from Sakura Tokyo last week off seamless and ended up with FOOD POISONING on New Year's Eve! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! I even filed a complain with seamless in which the manager at Sakura would not refund my order saying that there were no other complaints. I spoke with Seamless customer support throughout the day between fits of vomiting and other unpleasant stomach issues, where they felt bad enough to give me a credit. I suggest that nobody order from a business that clearly is not delivery good or SAFE food. For the record I ordered the following and would stay clear from all of these if you do choose to order. -Miso Soup -Seaweed Salad -Spicy Tuna Roll -Rainbow Roll I'll also be reporting Sakura Tokyo to the NYC health department because if they do not already have a C rating they should. There's something to be said for consistency. That's probably the best way to describe the months long monogamous relationship I've had with Sakura Tokyo as far as Crown Heights sushi delivery. Sure, there have been times when my fiancée, accustomed to the more flavorful sushi of Los Angeles, has tried to get us to try other sushi delivery and yeah, I might have had a bite or two, but when it comes time for me to place my sushi order it's going to be Sakura Tokyo and that has been the case since the first time I ordered in June. What first attracted me to Sakura Tokyo was that their prices seemed downright reasonable; most of their special rolls are about $8 or less. Concerned more about getting as much bang for my buck as possible than what the sushi tasted like I led off my first order with the Special Philadelphia Roll because it comes with 10 pieces. Perhaps other sushi places have this same kind of roll, but I haven't found it. If you're not a fan of cream cheese, you should probably stay away from this one, but it works for me, especially since I like to order two rolls. Knowing I'm getting the 10 pieces of Special Philadelphia helps me to branch out a bit more and try the other special rolls since the Special Philadelphia by itself is somewhat filling. I would also recommend the Sweet 16 and Spicy Lover's Roll. For the most part, Sakura Tokyo is generous with the fillings, which makes their rolls tastier than they actually are...if that makes any sense. Finally, one of the issues I've had with Crown Heights is that it seems like all of the delivery places operate exceptionally slow. This is not the case with Sakura Tokyo. More often than not, I get my food sooner than they tell me I will. In addition to offering fast delivery, they've been more than willing to accommodate special instructions regarding the preparation of the roll (subtracting certain ingredients) or correct any mistakes that may have been made with my order. Tip: If you are ordering for two or more people, you should note that when you order multiple rolls they tend to try and squeeze them in as few containers as possible. Depending on how you feel about different foods being in close proximity or if someone in your party is allergic or just really dislikes something, this could be problematic. read more

Honestly, this establishment is the very definition of a hole-in-the-wall. The Sushi is tasty (always fresh rolls), the service is quick, and the people there are always kind. They're not necessarily sophisticated in their cooking; but this is for sure the cheapest and most dependable Sushi bar in the area. If you just got home from work, and you're craving Sushi, but don't want to spend thirty dollars on two rolls (there's an option for that in the area), then this is your spot. read more

dee-effing-licious and cheap!!! they serve huge portions for decent prices, and i've ordered from here 3+ times in the past month and a half. the sushi platters are great and include a good variety of special rolls, the chirashi is incredible, and you will be craving the pork katsu curry for days to come. however, when i ordered the salmon teriyaki, it smelled a bit fishy so i'm going to have to demote Sakura to 4 stars. it seems that everyone else who has posted about it has enjoyed it, so hopefully this was just an unusual case. read more

Sakura Tokyo makes decent sushi at cheap prices. The sushi is always fresh, but sometimes off tasting. My last spicy tuna roll lacked any spice and left a weird after taste in my mouth. I will say they offer a large menu, and some great deals on lunch specials. They are located right around the corner from me, so it makes for a quick stop when I don't have any other options for dinner, or want a fast meal. read more

If i could give 0 starts I would! I ordered my food (2 lunch specials of 3 rolls) at 12, it finally arrived at 1:53! Since the order was for 2 people, you would expect 2 chop stick, 2 soy sauces, and a spoon for the miso I got. Well, the food was just average, nothing special, soup below average. I can post a picture unfortunately but basically, it was broth (miso powder mixed with water) and 1 seaweed leaf. I had to eat it with Chop sticks since there was no spoon. After the delivery man came nearly 2 hours late, he DEMANDED a tip!! I have never seen that type of audacity. I opened the package, it only had 1 soy sauce half full!! What am I supposed to do with 1 soy for 2 people? All I can say is never again, I dont need the aggravation dealing with rude people. read more
