After reviewing my bill I notice my Sushi Roll was full priced brought it to the attention of the waiter so she apologized and showed it to the man in the Sushi Bar which I assume is the owner or manager. She come back and says that Roll is full priced and the Happy Hour deal is for In her words Japanese people. I'm sticking with 3 stars. Wonton soup this time was just the right salt level. Egg drop soup was not as watery. Husband tried kung po chicken, his words "it was alright". He appreciated that it was actually spicy. Pad Thai was awful, husband thought it was better after being reheated. I've had take out twice from here and I've been pretty impressed. The combination plates are large and cheap! The food is always nice and hot and never greasy. I really like the Kung Pao Chicken and the eggrolls. The sushi is ok, not great but not terrible. I do not like their soups, however. I got egg drop once and it just awful - bland and bitter. The staff is friendly and you can even place your order online! I just did this for the first time and it worked perfectly. The boyfriend had general tsoas and I had the roast duck. After we got our food, that was it. No one came back to check on us. Waitress had no problem flirting with other customers seated around us, we made eye contact, still we were ignored. Now the food. There was a reason it came out instantly. It had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. It was terrible. I've microwaved better TV dinners. General tsoas sauce was congealed and breading was a soggy mess. Worst experience at a Chinese restaurant, and that includes the time a dog bolted out of the kitchen and tried to escape. Seriously. That happened. Turns out the dog was the family pet . . . but still. Anyway, back to Sakura. My wife and I ordered two different dishes - Kung Pao Chicken and Cashew Chicken - and they served us two identical dishes, minus the peanuts and cashews. I asked the waitress if this was intentional. She checked with the cook who allegedly said yes. I politely asked if I could speak with the cook. She asked but the cook claimed he was too busy. We were the only people in the restaurant and I could see him talking on his cell phone. All of this would have been excusable had the food been delicious, but it was far from it. The chicken was gray, like it had been boiled, and the presence of a thin gravy resembling watered down poi mingled with the celery, peanuts and rice, the only other ingredients in the entire dish. Altogether, the ensemble was a soggy mound devoid of texture and flavor. As I mentioned before, my wife's was the same - just the other half of whatever it was the cook decided he was too busy to make. Final grade: F-Minus. For the best Kung Pao Chicken in town, and probably all of eastern WA for that matter, check out Woo's Teriyaki at The Uptown. Guaranteed flavor dynamite. read more

I think for what's available in the area, this is a place that I would go and have take out when I'm working late. Not bad, not the greatest. The sushi rolls are very small, but they were good, and the price matches the smaller rolls which was nice. We ordered some rolls and some Chinese food at the same time and half the meal came out before the other half by about 20 minutes. It was so long that the waitress asked if she could box our food up and grab our check before the other half had even arrived. The Chinese food was good but nothing over the top. Our family loves Sakura! We haven't tried their Japanese food, but their Chinese food is the best and most authentic we've found in Tri-Cities. We lived in Northern China for eight years, so authentic is really important to us! My favorite is their garlic eggplant. My kids love the orange chicken, of course, and the beef and broccoli. Everything is delicious. The service has always been great, the staff friendly, and the food portions large. We celebrate many of our family birthday dinners here and eat family-style. I've hated sushi for a long time because when I was first introduced to it, it was store bought sushi. Ever since I've refused to eat it. Finally about two years ago my father brought me to Sakura and I got a beginners platter. I only really two things on there, one of which was the California Roll. Yes, I know I know, the "noob" roll, Every time I went back, which was quite often, I got that. I usually went with my dad who eagerly tried new things. I liked stealing things off his plate because then I too could try something new without committing to a plate I may not like. One day he got a Mountain Side Roll which he didn't end up liking and pushed the plate towards me. I tried one piece and fell in absolute love. I don't care if this place isn't as good as the big city places. It has a permanent place in my heart. I love going there occasionally and treating myself. I've taken friends there and introduced them to the place. It has a great selection for those who do and don't like sushi, although honestly my eyes never stray from the side of the menu with the sushi. But my father has had nothing negative to say about the General Tso's Chicken. I have only ever once had an unfriendly server. A middle aged Asian women who gave me a dirty look when I ordered three rolls for just myself. Usually I have very friendly servers. I sometimes have difficulty understanding them, but I have a lot of trouble with accents and it's no fault on their part. I like the sweet soy bean thing they give you as you wait for your meal. The prices aren't bad, especially since sushi tends to be so filling. They're really nice to work with with to go orders, although I usually don't call them in because my issues with accents is much worse over the phone. The restaurant has a very nice look and I love the artwork on the walls. It's cool seeing different works every time you come in. during my last visit I was really tempted to buy one piece. If they had 10 minutes before they closed, I feel as though they could've told me to come earlier.
