STILL the best Chinese ever. I have been going to China Cafe ever since I was a little kid. I remember going with my family at the old location and as I had my own kids - I brought them too. Crab puffs are a HUGE family favorite. We never get just one order.. we always leave with an extra batch to eat later. They have a little bit of a sweeter cream cheese filling that I haven't been able to find anything like anywhere else.. it's very unique. The new China Cafe Express is honestly amazing. The food is just as good as ever. The service is amazing still, same sweet waitresses as the old location.. food is still well priced. Did not feel like express at all as we sat at a nice table. The restaurant was very clean. Lek has been there since I was a kid, she's always been so kind to my family everytime we've been in as well as the very sweet other waitress who we've seen often too!! Well I haven't eaten out in a long time or had Chinese food so I did a Google search & ended up ordering the Moo Goo Gai Pan with chicken based on the photo that was displayed on their website. I was craving some veggies. What I got had 2 snow peas, lots of corn & carrots but not one piece of broccoli like in the pic. Very disappointing. read more

This is not the China Cafe we all grew to love, yes the same people are there but the food and format are different. Immediately you notice the name now says Express, the business has adopted a new to go format similar to Panda Express. Everything is served in to go containers and they no longer offer table service or family dinners. With the new format you will find the common menu items are prepared and held on a steam table. The sweat and sour chicken previously came to your table with a crispy fried chicken covered in a smooth rich sauce that tasted exquisite. But now you get a scoop of mushy chicken covered in and chunky sauce that has been sitting for who knows how long and tastes no where as good as it's predecessor. During our initial visit there was lots of confusion with patrons as they were trying to sit and waiting for service only to find they had to go back and wait in line to place an order at the counter. There were a lot of unhappy patrons some who left but most stayed to try it out. We all shared fond memories of the old establishment and I believe we all agreed that we did not like the new format and hoped the owners would quickly reconsider and return to what gave them the following they built over the decades they were open at the previous location. Sorry China Cafe Express but you are nothing like China Cafe, and anyone that visits the new Express location should only expect one similarity and that's the staff. This is one of my favorite place to Oder takeout. I was so excited that the reopened at a new location off Edison and Clearwater. The staff is always kind and gracious. They have my order ready in 20 mins. They offer dine in, to-go, and delivery thru door dash if for some reason you can't make over yourself. My birthday party of 11 people was a great success in December 2023. The dishes we pre-ordered were excellent and served hot in a timely way. The staff was gracious and efficient , checking on us often. As a side note, one guest remarked to me about the state of the restroom: it was the cleanest they had ever seen at a restaurant. The very best Chinese food in the area! You will not be disappointed. Portions are very large, always cooked up fresh. We always have leftovers for another dinner. Even the leftovers are great too. The best Gen Tso, served with broccoli-delicious! We order it every time. The egg foo yung is fluffy and tender, never had better. Fried prawns were huge, batter not too thick, absolutely delicious! We stopped in and ordered take-out on a whim. No regrets! Lobby and kitchen area are so bright, pretty, and super clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Classy? This place- oh no! Not with paper dishes, flimsy plastic cutlery and pop out of the can. Food as always is good. Ordering a bit of a chore, menu misleading as to when certain items are available. Wish they'd fix the glitches, so it would once again be enjoyable to eat there. read more

Order was not correct. Cheap plastic silverware. You eat out od Styrofoam containers on card tables and folding chairs with disposables tablecloths. Would not reccommend and won't go back. read more

Well, normally I would have given them a 5 star rating, but I ordered take out and they gave me someone else's meals. If you order take out, make sure you have them open the bag and physically check to make sure its your order. This makes two times this has happen to me. read more

I never leave negative reviews but the food we ordered here tonight was not good. General Tso's chicken was mushy and lacked flavor. The white rice was undercooked and hard. My husband said his was ok but I don't think we will be back after tonight's experience. He did say the staff was very friendly and it was clean. read more

Don't waist your time and money. Portions are small, it is all premade on a buffet line. Food was barley warm and they had a pan with water in it with all serving utensils in it and they would dip the spoons in it to clean it between putting food in your to go box and the water was not even steaming hot to kill any thing. They were rude and for what you get its very expensive. No hot tea or egg flower soup with your food. It all cost extra. I think the soup was around $10 and they had 2 hot teas one was $4.99 and one was $9.99, we will not be going back. With the temperature of the food I see food poisoning in the near future. read more

First of all, I will address the fact that these 'bad reviews' for the restaurant are unfounded. And honestly, I wouldn't trust anyone who can't use the right "waste" or wants to whine about 'the old place'. Here's the deal: the new China Cafe Express is BETTER than the old place. Source: I was eating at the original China Cafe with my grandmother since I was a very small child and I am now in my late 30's. This new place is cleaner, the food tastes great, and it's still boiling hot by the time you get it home if you're getting a to-go order. I had to let mine sit out for a minute on the plate just to be able to eat it! To specifically address the karen that's complaining about everything in the restaurant: them 'setting out food in trays' is because they are having a lunch buffet, NOT because they are trying to 'speed up the process' or 'like panda express', it's part of their new set up. There are plenty of places to sit and there was zero confusion about where to sit. You also always had to pay for tea extra, and you always had to pay for soup extra on to-go orders or if you weren't ordering a meal that came with it. So whatever smear campaign they're on about, they are wrong. To reiterate: when we went to get our to-go order, the place was clean. The staff was friendly. When we got home, the food was still boiling hot. And the food tasted even better than I remembered from the old place. read more
