I'm not from here, but I come to town occasionally to work (you could probably guess where). I'd eaten pretty much everywhere in town as far as Chinese food is concerned. This place was the last one on the list. Let me say, this is the only place anyone should be getting Chinese food locally, hands down. I got dinner combo #1. (Or A. Can't remember) but it was top notch. The pork fried rice was impressive and perfect in all the ways I could imagine. the sweet and sour pork was done right too. I will definitely be coming back. I have ordered food from here many times in the last 6 months and I have throughly. I don't know what happened last night, but everything was packaged differently and it tasted terrible. The pork egg foo yung and pork chow mein were bland and tasteless. The hot mustard in a little envelope wasn't very hot and very thin. I'll be perfectly honest and say I "didn't expect much" here. I'm staying at the Oxford Suites hotel 2 doors down and walked here. I don't any longer do "fast food" and that's about it around this hotel, other than Fortune Garden. It's tiny, and gaudy inside - pink vinyl booths and very small. Typical "American high calorie high fat chinese" menu (no offense meant at all - just a statement of fact). I eat light and always look for the low-cal items wherever I eat. I had low expectations here, I'll be perfectly honest. But i spotted the Kungpao Shrimp - shrimp is very low in calories, and it was listed as "stir fried" which is a great way to cook low-cal. But still, I had low expectations, The plate arrived and it was PILED with food! OMG - there was food enough here for a family of four. In looking around at other diners, this seems very much a trend here - HUGE plates of food for pretty reasonable prices. Make a note of that if you're on a "dining out budget" in Hermiston, OR. I started with a cup of Hot Sour Soup for $1.00 !! VERY good soup for a buck, I must say. Sure - I've had better... but for a BUCK? Not bad at all. The shrimp dish I ordered actually had a LOT more shrimp than I ever expected - I didn't keep count, but at least 10 - maybe more - all nicely wok-cooked but not "fried tasting" nor greasy - pretty sure they fit my "low cal" agenda these days. The stirfry had TONS of stuff - carrots, zucchini, onions, green and red peppers, peas, and a bunch of other stuff - not a lot of which was either necessary or helpful to the dish. They could save a lot of money by reducing all this excess - just some shrimp stir-fried with a few other key ingredients would have been adequate. Tacky interior, VERY slow and spotty service (place was almost empty - waitress seemed preoccupied with folding napkins and "to go" prep bags (despite no "to go" orders - just getting ready for when they come it!) or some such - had to ask for ICE for my water, as the first glass came with a SINGLE ice cube... had to ask for a glass for my beer as well....had to walk to the counter to pay, despite the table tray - in an almost EMPTY restaurant - not impressive service, so 2 instead of 3 stars for "A-OK" Dave read more

This was recommended to me. Apparently they have a special featuring chicken and asparagus. It sounded yummy, so I gave it a shot, and I'm glad I did! The (seasonal) special features generous servings of asparagus and chicken in a yummy brown sauce. It also comes with pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and 4 crab puffs. I immediately asked for a box. This is more than enough for two people. I boxed up half, and still have left overs on my plate. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's definitely your typical Chinese restaurant. A little dank, slightly dirty, definitely outdated. Yet, that's the charm I find appealing in Chinese restaurants. If I'm ever back in the area, this will be a stop I will have to make! ---- I only gave this restaurant 4 stars due to the parking. It's limited. From the road, it looks packed. However, it's not nearly as busy looking inside. I had to cram my car in between two SUVs. It was the only spot and super close to the road which made it that much more difficult to park. read more
