Mandarin Chicken and fried rice
Kerry H.

Our family of five loved our experience. The little guys loved their cheeseburgers, but the older, wiser ones enjoyed the lo mein, yakisoba, and mandarin chicken. The fried rice had a great texture and the breading on the mandarin chicken wasn't too heavy and was really tender. And to top it off, our server was super nice and very attentive.

First off. Cleanest Chinese place in Town. Major upgrades done. Good job. Second... food was fresh and amazing. Thank u! My family has been coming here for about 20 years. New owners. Awesome job.

Got the sesame chicken and the amount of chicken could have filled the tiny container they put the bbq pork in. It was mostly onions

Food has improved dramatically since newer people are running the place. Portions are reasonable for the price you pay.

Geeat food and service. Would have been a 5 star if they still let you substitute things like they did in the past.

Food was so horrible we considered not even bringing it home for the cats. Everything was fried. And everything was gross.

This review is for dinner time 4/24/23…read more For a Chinese buffet, I can honestly give them a solid 4/5 stars. Sure the place isn't very clean, but the food wasn't bad! Especially for.. Granger! I'm for southern California, currently out here for work and there's not many Asian restaurants in this area. I didn't eat everything in here, but what I had was actually decent. I'm pretty impressed. Their "teriyaki" skewers was probably one of the best skewers I've had in a long time. There's nothing teriyaki about it, but I like skewers. It's like a 5 spice/ char siu chicken skewer that was quite delicious. For $15.68 (tax included) I'd come back here to eat. There were a few things that I would pass on next time: mussels - bland, likely just steamed and that was it. Maybe I needed some hot sauce or something. Head-on Shrimp: Salty. Be ready to drink lots of water. Might be good with rice, but eating it alone.. oooweee thirsty! Nothing too fancy about this place. Just good Chinese buffet foods. The best part to this is that.. I didn't get sick! Lol

Yan's China Buffer offers much to chose from. There were plenty of protein options, lots of…read morevegetable and carb choices too, and my husband and I were happy to try and recommend different items to each other. The skewered chicken was my favorite item, while my husband liked the crab rangoon. The staff was bustling around bringing out fresh food and cleaning tables the entire time. We made sure to leave room for dessert, and again there were many pastry items as well as vanilla and chocolate soft serve ice cream. Small pieces meant we could try several treats, my favorite being the sesame ball with red bean paste filling, my husband loved the coconut macaroons, the cream puff was delightful, and the vanilla roll and chocolate cake were okay. The soft serve was tasty. In July 2025 the price was about $17/person, well worth it for the quality and variety offered. We would return.

We stopped through here for dinner on our way from salt lake to portland. Susie was there when we…read morearrived and held the door for all of us. We had a group of 7 and she seated us immediately. We got the appetizer platter and some extra orders of spring rolls and crab rangoons. The crab puffs were obviously homemade and so recently fried that i had to wait a few seconds to let them cool. They were the perfect crunchy creamy combination and went very well with the sesame dipping sauce they came with. The spring rolls were also fantastic, thick rolls stiffed with cabbage and meat with curry spices. We also got a round of egg flower soup and tea for the table. The tea was some of the best jasmine tea i've had and was perfect to bump up the caffeine levels to continue our drive. For dinner we got the sautéed broccoli, kung pow chicken, beef chow mein, Szechuan shrimp, salt pepper squid and rice for the table. I'm not a huge fan of kung pow chicken usually because it doesn't have many veggies, but this was amazing. In with the chicken there were peppers, onions, corn, mushrooms, and peanuts! The sauce was spicy and super flavorful. This was by far my favorite dish. The Szechuan shrimp was sweet and tangy and the shrimp were coated in a shell of breading that was miraculously still crunchy while also soaking up the sauce to make the perfect bite. The broccoli was the simplest dish, but even though it was just steamed broccoli it had a wonderful umami rich sauce that highlighted the perfectly cooked vegetable. The salt and pepper squid was perfectly fried and crispy and super tender. It also came with a selection of blackened peppers and onions that went really well with the squid bites. The beef chow mein had perfectly tender beef bites with onions peppers and bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were well cooked and yet nice and crunchy. I couldn't find any noodles in the dish but the bean sprouts did the same job and I think the dish was better without. So good. This restaurant, aside from the food, was really clean and well run. Susie was very nice, and when we had finished eating we got to talk to her a little about how she had just opened and how she had moved out here from portland. I will be back to pendleton in a few weeks for the round up, and you can bet 100% that you can find me at Susie's!!!!

The service is great. All the help is friendly and polite. But the Chinese food is average at best…read more Sesame Chicken was not tender, a bit hard to chew. I hate to be negative as I really wanted to like this place.
