Service was decent but the food missed for me. The portion sizes are far too big for any healthy adult. Got a spaghetti and meat balls and the pasta was lowkey cooked too thoroughly. The meatballs and sauce were not super impressive either. Seemed to me that it was a classic case of having too large of a menu and not being able to have anything super good in particular. If you leave hungry, you didn't do it right. Their servings are HUGE! I love stopping her when going through town. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all delicious! The service is great, food comes out fast, and we are always satisfied. I prefer to park in the back and walk in through the bar. While I was waiting for my order, I was seated across from a group of older men who started making rude, racist comments about Mexicans. Hadn't been for awhile as last visit wasn't that great. Run, I will never go back. Have you ever been served Prime Rib that didn't come with au jus and horseradish? Asked for it and waitress said. Worst place I've ever been. Visited about a month ago. The place was big busy. Plenty of staff but they were terrible at paying attention to their customers. We were seated near the bar so the bartender was our waitress. She didn't check n us 1 time after our food was brought out. My partner ordered a seafood & cream cheese omelet, however, there wasn't any cream cheese in it. When we finally got her attention to let her know she brought out a little plastic cup with cold, hard cream cheese & said "sorry the cook forgot that." She acted irritated that we complained. Portions were large but terrible. Our hashbrowns were super greasy, saturated in a puddle & flavorless. AVIOD this place at all costs. They're overpriced for terrible service & food. read more

We came to Hermiston Oregon to visit a friend and we stopped at Heal's restaurant and was quite amazed. A small mama and pop type restaurant with very large portions. We came in on a Saturday night. Had to wait a little bit to get our dinner, but it was wonderful as expected. The portions were huge only drawback was my vegetables were cold, but had plenty to eat. A little on the small side as far as restaurants go inside corners but our booth was very comfortable. read more

Decent breakfast and absence sizes!! We enjoyed sharing the country fried steak with the biscuits and gravy. The eggs are okay but I am picky about over cooked scrambled eggs and crispy eggs over easy. I wish they had better options for the omelettes but we decided to get the "Prime" option. Prime rib was in very large chunks so had to use a knife to cut it up the omelette was nicely filled with the prime rib but I also wish it had been warmed up in the Au ju and not cooked on the griddle. Overall I would personally pass on the omelettes and just do the country fried steak. Inexpensive for the size portions and the coffee (black) has great flavor and is an enjoyable cup! read more

This place is the cutest little bar that sells greasy spoon food. I was not expecting to find such a little gem tucked into such a little town. The service was great, and the waitress came by several times to make sure we were doing OK. Visited twice recently. Dinner and breakfast. The service was exceptional both visits. Friendly staff, the way things use to be. The food was great. Prime rib specials were good, portions were huge. Steaks were tasty and tender. Perfect baked potato's. The second visit was breakfast. I had the biggest blueberry pancake of my life. It was fluffy deliciousness with good sausage. So this is a bar with a full service restaurant inside. The outside looks pretty divey but inside it was really nicely done. We were seated immediately and given menus, which have typical bar food, as well as some steaks, and a rather large selection of Italian-type items. I ordered a Drop Top beer....and got a Bud Lite. The second waitress we got recognized it immediately and fixed it, without issue though. We then ordered our food. I decided to get the Italian-style chicken because I'd been eating a lot of red meat lately. It was two chicken breasts, thinly sliced, breaded and fried with a red sauce over the top, according to the menu, with spaghetti and rice under it. I asked for fries instead of the spaghetti and rice (???...why rice?) I got what I ordered, except the red sauce had mushrooms and olives in it, and apparently half a meatball. I did not expect a meatball on top of my chicken. It was just strange. The chicken was alright. The fries were hugely plentiful but nothing was special about them at all. They did bring out a platter of bread, and that was pretty good. There wasn't anything super great or super horrible about this place. It kind of is what it is. I've eaten both breakfast and lunch at Hale's. Lunch was fine, breakfast was entertaining. If you like pancakes, you must try their short stack, unforgettable. I visited Hale's about a month ago passing through town on a road trip. I live in Utah and have had a lot of pancakes in my 24 years of life but Hale's pancakes are most definitely a gift sent down from heaven. Best pancakes in the whole world. Came in for dinner tonight and had the best experience! The lounge cocktail list is amazing, many different drinks that will make anyone happy. My husband and I ordered steaks, the bacon wrapped ribeye and the tri top Oscar, wow just wow. Huge portions, like gigantic. Bread and salads served first, then the main dish served with mixed veggies and a baked potato or whatever you decide as your side. We had a lot to put in a to go box. Stopped in here with my Co-worker as we were traveling to Idaho. The service was great ( although I did ask for iced water 3 times and never got it). Friendly and cute cafe/lounge steakhouse. I had the veggie omelette with toast and hashbrowns. The omelette was huge. The hashbrowns were a heaping stack of deliciousness. The omelette needed some spices added as it was a bit bland and my biscuit was hard. Coffee was fresh and strong just like I like it (still wanted some iced water though). My co-worker had the tri tip steak with a salad and fries. Salad was fresh and crisp looking. The tri tip....tough. very tough. She had a hard time cutting it and she said it was chewy and tough. I scored a 3 as the coffee and ashbrowns were good but the customer service and friendly "locals" was appreciated. They made you feel at home. My second time here, servings are huge, and delicious! The staff is very attentive and friendly, I just saw one of the servers blocking the front door open with a rock. I didn't realize why until I saw an elderly man in a wheelchair exiting a van. The server then went to the back of his van, pulled out a portable ramp, brought it to the door and set it up for him. I feel so bad to write this review because this restaurants breakfast is phenomenal. (Though not hard to do breakfast a lot of places can't do it like this) portions are incredible but I just came here with my best friend CRAVING a ribeye and I ordered one and the fat of this steak was just inedible. Silver skin all through the meat, and I've noticed this in a lot of respected restaurants that they care more about presenting a char from a grill than focusing on the quality of a fine steak. Severely disappointed would give it a 1 if I didn't like the aura and breakfast so much but this makes me really sad to write this. read more

After moving from near by Morrow County to the Pendleton area to retire, we missed going to Hale's ~ for the 30+ years of living & working out of Irrigon Hale's was our place to go to celebrate a special family event. Food & service was also a favorite besides the wonderful, over abundant foods & drinks. Stopped here on my trip to Eastern Oregon in October 2018. I had trouble finding this place and that irritated me but I eventually found it.
