This had become a go-to stop on trips to Oregon. I will say that the food has been hit and miss. My last visit was definitely a hit. Much better service and food compared to my visit a year ago. For dinner i went with clam chowder that is only available on Fridays. It was very good with big chunks of veggies. It cam with two breadsticks that looked very familiar to Olive Garden breadsticks. Great for dunking in the chowder. Also ordered a Manhattan and it was amazing. Upgraded from well to Maker's. Worth the upcharge. Bread was much better than last year. Got the Denver omelet. I double checked that they had bell peppers (they didn't last year but tried charging me for it). It was great. I did order my hashbrowns extra crispy, and the waitress apologized when she put down my plate saying she didn't think they were crispy enough. I didn't send it back, less carbs I guess. We just stopped in for breakfast the morning after our stay at Riverside Lodge. I had the biscuits and gravy. I love biscuits and gravy and was not disappointed. 4 half muffins slathered in sausage gravy. I was happy the the gravy was nice and hot. That is my biggest gripe with ordering this, is that most places it's not hot. The plate came heated and I think that helps keep the gravy hot also. It was lunch time and we decided to pull off the freeway and find a place to eat. Other than tummy time not much reason for us to stop in Boardman but super happy for this place. It was among a couple of options recommended by the very nice cop who pulled us over- no U-turns as it turns out. It's right on the river so great views, really good service and delicious food. Partner had the cheeseburger and green side salad and ordered the (not called French) dip. Highly recommend it- meat was excellent and it had just the right tiny amount of horseradish/ loved it. Not expected and a great add. Came with the same nice green salad. Loved that both plates were just the right size and the bread for both was along the lines of a Kaiser roll. We gave this place not one but TWO chances. The first time we came in, we were greeted and told we would be sat in a few minutes. After 12 minutes of standing patiently there, someone came over and told us the kitchen was closed now and they wouldn't serve us. (The hours said 8pm closing time, we were turned away well before then. Tonight we decide to give them another shot, maybe it was an off night. We were sat and brought menus. We waited 10 minutes before our drink order was taken and then another 30 for him to come back (without our drinks) to get our food order. He came back around 5 min after that with drinks, which became empty as we watched him hang out talking with friends "taking to-go orders" I went up to the bar to get drink refills. Our food came after we'd been there for an hour and 20 minutes. Dry burgers, the salad was okay however one didn't come with croutons? (Same salads) Thanks to the bartender for getting our server after we had to go ask for the check up at the front because after an hour and a half of awful service we were beyond ready to leave. I write this review more in sorrow than anger. I don't like giving less-than-stellar reviews to places; after all, they work hard and it's important to find the positive in things. That said, we had dinner and breakfast here. The view is nice. And the interior is ... well ... confused, with a mix of high-concept and diner. The food was most mostly fine, if unremarkable. So what's going on? Let's start with the service. The service was friendly, but not great. At dinner there was a rush and they were overwhelmed. At breakfast there was almost no one there, and they were overwhelmed. Waiting nearly an hour for basic breakfast (eggs, pancakes, that sort of thing) means that something isn't going right in the kitchen. If it was a one-off thing I could forgive it, but the exact same problem happened at dinner with a different cook and different servers. You end up seeing good left for long periods of time underneath heat lamps. And this goes to a deeper problem that is evident on the dinner menu. What kind of place is it trying to be? Basic bar food? Elevated food? Because it fails at both. The elk burger wasn't very good. The Buffalo cauliflower bites was probably the highlight of the dinner, but was one-note. Everything about the place was off. They advertise Ordinance beers - but they weren't available. This could be a good place- they have a great bartender and some good staff, but they need to fix whatever the issues are with basic flow from the kitchen to the guests, and choose a lane for their food. read more

First time visit, found on Yelp. Would have never known it was here, and honestly how would a car passing by at 70mph know about it? Located in a hotel but quite the nice seating area and view of the Columbia river. Very nice hostess + waitress crushing life, let us know the wait time (for food) was kinda long. However, is in no hurry said, "fine with us" Fish tacos for me and cob salad for my lady. I'm not sure what the business strategy is here now. Our latest vacation here - on Independence Day weekend - they were either closed and/or limited hours. We are regulars several times a year. Yes- we vacation in Boardman!! While the hotel was filled to capacity, service - including food was a literal ghost town. The place used to be a resort like experience on holidays. They've installed all those new little homes they call "cabins" - yet have dialed back the restaurant. They were closed on the 4th. Sunday, they only had 4-8pm "appetizers" & alcohol. Not even any meat available for a salad. Their famous tots- unavailable. They could nail it if they wanted to. So much potential. But if management is happy just focusing on the rooms & views - then it shall remain more like a hotel and less like a resort. We will keep coming here. But will likely eat at other places while in the area - since it is limited. I feel bad for the 2 employees who were running their a$$ off to whip up bags and bags of previously frozen apps to all the people who kept coming in - only to be disappointed and express their disbelief in what has happened here. read more

We had a Bloody Mary, petite Caesar and petite Green salad. The salads were fine, nothing special. The tomatoes for the salad had stems and unripe chunks. The Mary was just okay, tasting like plain tomato juice. The server was very nice and attentive, however, messed up the bill 3 separate times and we needed up paying two separate bills. Where to start? Four of us stopped on our way to Walla Walla. The dining room was NOT BUSY (it was a Monday afternoon). Two plates of food came out 15 mins before the next two - the burger patty was tough, dry and had zero flavor. My friends had the fish and chips and/or farmer's BLT. Bacon on the BLT was good. Fish was over cooked. Fries were ok. The table that came in AFTER us got their food first. The cook needs to tighten up the timing of the dishes coming out! The menu is dated. We could have sat outside and taken in the air but to do that you're food order has to be "to go." Seriously??? Avoid this. Eat in The Dalles or Umatilla. For reals. read more

We have eaten here several times and every time it has been a disappointment. The menu options are not consistent, the food is under flavored, partially cold or over cooked. We will not be returning. It is a disappointment that such a beautiful restaurant doesn't deliver the food and experience that it has the potential for. A overhaul of the kitchen and cooking would greatly improve this restaurant. Avoid the horseradish at all cost. I don't know who created that, but it is not horseradish. The intensity is so severe you can not even eat anything after tasting it. Appears the only seasonings they use for anything is water, salt and pepper. Total disappointment! read more

If you've got lots of time, the food is good. Service is super slow, but it's because they're understaffed. The waiters are kind but in my experience there was one, and the cook was the manager and also the only one who could make drinks so... imagine the time that took. I'd hope for a heavy pour for my trouble but pretty sure I got a Diet Pepsi. These guys have potential if they hire some people but until then only go if you have a couple hours to spare. read more
