It's the oldest continuously operating cafe and bar in Oregon. From the neon outside and in, the…read morehistory and ambiance is a throwback that dates to the 1880's. The bar is long, with pictures of all the Pendleton Round-Up lining one wall. The place is a fascinating time capsule. Way in the back, beyond the bar and the pool table, a very small dining room with counter service and several humble booths are tucked away next to the kitchen. It's old, and proud of it. I've only eaten there twice; I once had a great breakfast there many years ago with my son. The portions were generous, the service was excellent, and as American style breakfasts go, it was about as good as they get. It's not "inspired food." It's the standard stuff, and there's something comforting about that. It's Americana at it's best. The second time was my birthday, and again, I was there with my son. It was evening. When we got there, we were the only ones occupying the cafe. It looked exactly as it had 20-plus years ago. My son ordered a hamburger and fries. Again, no trendy toppings or fuss, just very fresh, very well prepared hearty fare...exactly what we were looking for. I had their "famous" fried chicken. it was without hesitation, some of the best I'd ever tasted. It came with jo-jos, a salad, and garlic bread. It was all excellent, and almost too much food. If you enjoy old school dining in a small town cafe, it's going to be hard to beat the Rainbow Cafe and Bar.

The whole place is well decorated, pretty cozy, and definitely got a vibe to it of a local place. Service: everyone was fine and friendly, we were friendly to them as we could tell on the Sunday night it was just the two folks and they were doing their best. Drinks and food: the drinks were strong but good, the food was excellent. We got the chicken and it's definitely enough to split with someone, and the French dip which my husband said was meh. The potato jojos were huge but tasty. Over all very well worth the visit! A nice historic place and experience.

It was memorial day weekend (Sunday) and my friend who's a local, told me about a 90's night they were having there because of the holiday. I was like sure! It sounded great! Me and some other friends showed up and it was PACKED! The parking lot and the inside. We got lucky cause some other friends were there before us and they actually held a table with enough seats (there was going to be about 10 of us) and we had a place to sit. Coming in, they had a small dance floor, a DJ, and a table full of older looking 90's games! Sorry, Rubiks cube, Uno... a bunch of stuff! :D The line for the bar was pretty long, and it didn't help that the workers were going a little slow... I don't know, maybe they were understaffed or something, but the line took forever. Whatever, I made sure I ordered enough drinks to get me going for the night, I picked up Uno from the front table, and got a game going with my friends while we drank and waited for the rest of my buddies to show up. They announced a Karaoke contest and everyone told me to sign up so I said sure! The DJ was really good. Playing mostly 90's or early 2000's music for the theme. I ended up getting 2nd place for the contest :( But I still had the best time out, in Kennewick, here. I loved it. I couldn't comment on their mixed drinks and their food as I didn't order either but the vibes were all there and it was honestly a night to remember (or what I CAN remember) haha. Thanks for hosting. I'd definitely come back if I could!

I stopped putting in music far before 1:45 (the bar says it's open until 2) and I mentioned this and was just told To contact the manager in the morning. Poor service and poor communication. Also couldn't start a tab? Needs to be fixed if you're going to close at 1:30 you set the hours to 130.
