Visited from California last night, had a few ciders and the Hawaiian Burger with fries, it was delicious but the buns got soggy quickly, they only lost a star because my friend and I had two Jell-O shots each and they didn't taste like they had any alcohol, they didn't feel like it either. Visited today after a day of wine tasting. Bern's was recommended for burgers. We ordered a Cheeseburger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, and the Bern's burger. All burgers were great tasting and so were the French fries. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. read more

We would have stayed, if staff here would have at least acknowledged our presence. Even after 10 minutes, staff would turn their heads away when we looked at them, to avoid making eye contact. One server waited on another customer 3 times, yet we never even received menus or a 'we'll be right with you.' The only acknowledgement was being told to have a nice night, as we departed. Heading into Prosser last Sunday night,(Feb.18th)we asked Siri where there was a place to go for a drink? Thinking we wouldn't find a place(especially on a 'SUNDAY', Bern's tavern came up!! We went to check it out⁉ It Looked like the kind of place we use to hang out back in the day When we entered, it was such a flash back!!! It was so fun. There was just a handful of people,(surprised there was any, being a Sunday at about 7-7:30!? "We loved the atmosphere, even the lighting. I was so shocked to see the set up for a live band. I had to take a picture of it. The colored lights made it so fun!!! We only stayed for one drink, and a coke for my driver. (husband.) It was just a pit stop,before we headed back to Pasco. I hated moving over here. We grew up in Seattle all our lives. Last October 4th, our wedding anniversary) We tried to find something FUN to do!? There was nothing. The Tri-cities is not the place for a city mouse/to be!! How fun it was finding your place. It was a good way to end our day!!! The people working there were very nice . Just wish you were in Pasco. Bern's Tavern has potential for greatness. Unfortunately, our experiences here have been super inconsistent. The first visit was AWESOME. Fresh, hot, high quality ingredients. Bragged about it to the hubby and brought him next time... it was awful. Dry, nasty burger that seemed like it had been left over the day before and popped in the microwave. This was the second bar we made it to during our two-pub pub crawl of Prosser on a Thursday night. This bar had a nice old timey, dive bar feel to it, and I knew I'd like it. We grabbed a booth and the bartender came up to ask us and took our order (beers, FYI). While chatting and sipping ale, my eyes found the ceiling, and all over this establishment I noticed that there were all kinds of musical instruments hanging from the ceiling. Weird. But unique. So this is a nice bar with great service. There are a few pool tables. There were a few locals here, and we didn't feel alienated by them. All in all a nice place to drop by if you're in Prosser on a Thursday night. Oh, and if you want your fried gizzards for take-away. Give this place a call. Heard someone call in for some gizzards, and before the bar keep hung up, he was dropping the frozen gizzards into the oil. What the heck are gizzards anyway?? read more

Heard about this place from several friends as kind of an iconic dive bar in Prosser. It was my second time here on a sleepy/rainy Saturday. 20 minutes sitting in a booth with no staff in sight we stood up at the bar to order food and drinks. After the bartender handed one of our people a menu and said, "do you know how to read" followed by "welcome to a small town". Bartender was out of control rude, dropping f-bombs, "what the fuck did you say to me", after asking what it took to order a drink and food around here? Some establishments are praised for there rude behavior, this was uncalled for behavior from any staff member. Traveling around the PNW, I am a huge fan of supporting several small town restaurants and supporting their economy. I will never go back or recommend a friend I care about, ever dine here. The abuse isn't worth the drinks or food. read more

Bern's is a dive bar. For those of you who think you know what a dive bar is, go to Bern's to make sure what you had in your head matches up with things. For those of you that know what a dive bar is and perhaps even enjoy going to dive them, you will like Bern's. Bern's is a little dark, and appears to mostly be made of wood and spilt beer. It smells like a dive bar should smell; one part musty, one part stale beer, 2 parts urinal cake, one part old smoke, and 3 parts grease. The good kind of grease. The music sometimes comes out of a jukebox and sometimes out of instruments played by real people, musicians. The attitude is a little rude and a little easy going at the same time, just how I prefer my dive bar attitudes. The characters are local mostly. I even met a real cowboy at Bern's. He said he was just in Horse Heaven. Let's discuss the food. All is cooked on a small fat top grill or a small deep fryer. The flat top is the kind you could use anywhere, like a hotel room. Burgers, rings, and grilled things, they are all amazingly unhealthy and satisfying. The meat for the burgers is local, or so I'm told. The onion rings are not. They come from the freezer, from a plastic bag as does the steak fingers and French fries. They will bring you eight or nine sauces to pour over your grease, all of which are saucy but it's the house made mustard that does the trick. The mustard is very spicy, like you just chewed a piece of horseradish. Horseradish, horse heaven, horseradish heaven mustard sauce. Bern's is a dive bar. And for that reason it should be reviewed as such and compared to other haunts of its caliber. When I juxtaposed Bern's to the dive bars I frequent (although infrequently as of late) it rises like cream and head, to the top. I tip my hat to you Bern's and say well done. I have eaten here many times. Nice small town bar atmosphere. The food menu is actually pretty good but just not very diverse. So it makes it hard to eat here a lot. If you're looking for a little piece of Prosser this is a good choice. read more

The Berns burger is to die for! Everything about it was on point! They bring out a tray of condiments with ranch, tartar sauce, ketchup, spicy mustard, sweet baby rays bbq sauce, pickles, onions and relish! The French fries were delicious and crispy and were dressed in butter and pink Himalayan salt . The owner Darren is awesome and it's obvious that he takes pride in his menu and quality of food. Looking for a local dive bar? Then bern's is the local joint. Greasy food and cold beer. They typically have music provided by the jukebox but occasionally also have a rock band play. Big disappointment. We used to come here in the '70's & returned for the fried chicken- which they don't have anymore. Our first server was snippy & not helpful. Our second was nicer, but didn't return to ask if we wanted second beers. If I could give this place a zero star, I would. Came to my hometown and decided to go catch a drink. We immediately greeted by the bartender and were told they were "at capacity". He stated they could handle only 110 people and they were maxed out. I have bartended for 17 years, there was a few things wrong with this statement. There was definitely not that many people in the building since there was plenty of seating. Second, if you had that many people you wouldn't spend 15-20 minutes trying to keep people away. A seasoned bartender would be busy trying to make drinks and make money. Lastly, if you are going to be so concerned to be a door guy and not pay someone to watch your door, the rule is that if people leave new people come in. It was quite obvious this guy did not want us in there as we watched 4 people leave as he was telling us to leave. There was only 3 of us. The best part is that a group of 5 was allowed to go in, not even 5 minutes of walking away. At that point I knew what this place was about. We were 3 Latinos trying to get a drink, the group of 5 were Caucasians....you do the math. read more
