My wife and I agree Susie's has the best Beef Chow Fun we've eaten since Chinatown in New York City. We're New York transplants and at one point we were spoiled by amazing Chinese American food. Susie's delivers just that. Egg Flower Soup very tasty. General Tsou's Chicken not nearly spicy enough for us but perhaps could be upon request. Pork fried rice exactly how we prefer it. Quaint American Chinese food spot. It's a small family owned business. They have indoor dining and takeout. We called in ahead of time to order takeout and still had a little bit of a wait. This would not be a quick stop and go spot. There was street parking, clean bathrooms, clean & spacious seating for dining. Ordered the egg flower soup and beef chow fun (requested it to be combination style) for take out. It ended up being chicken, bbq pork, and shrimp. It was tasty and enjoyable. I don't know if everyone who wrote a positive review of Susie's was tripping on ibogaine or just ate somewhere else in Pendleton called Susie's Cafe. But our meal was a disaster. I have lived in Boston, New York, San Francisco, and Portland, and I've had brilliant General Tso's, great General Tso's (Zhien Hong in Portland), good General Tso's, and OK General Tso's, but until Susie's I had never had inedible General Tso's. It was a pile of fried dough cannon balls with small pieces of chicken rattling around inside, all covered with what must be the Chinese equivalent of watered-down ketchup. I couldn't eat it. My wife's Salt and Pepper Shrimp was not lightly battered (again Zhien Hong) and crispy and tangy, but was wok sauted and too salty with very sad overcooked vegetables. I could eat some of that. Next time we go to Pendleton, we're only eating breakfast at Rooster's and tacos at Chimu's (food truck). They served up some good quality food. I don't know what Susie's served up, but I'd pay not to eat it. read more

We stopped in for lunch in the hopes of good Chinese food. The reviews were good and we had high hopes. We were very happy to find the good reviews were accurate! We had General Tao's chicken and sesame chicken on the lunch special. Everything was very tasty and the hot tea was just wonderful. Nice little spot for great food! The location is a bit on the edge of town. We were there Saturday evening and they were not busy at all. Parking is available on the side of the building. The interior was a cafe style atmosphere, clean and well maintained. Sign says "under new management" so not sure what may have changed compared to prior reviews. The service was very prompt and friendly all around. We ordered honey walnut shrimp, almond fried chicken, and house fried rice. The food was prepared quickly and delivered to our table with a smile. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were generous! The honey walnut shrimp had a wonderful crispy coating and the sauce had a great balance of sweet and tangy. The almond fried chicken had a fantastic crispy coating as well and was made with high quality chicken and cooked perfectly. For drinks, they had fountain Pepsi products including lemonade and Dr Pepper and a few beers to choose from. Overall: great food, friendly service, reasonable prices, and large portions. No taste The "Three Type Chicken@. So when I was placing my order, I asked if I got to select my three types of chicken. I learned they pick for you. 1. Chicken with Vegetables. 4 stars. This was the only decent item out of the 4 items. 2. Gen Tso Chicken. 1 Star. Not sure what they are trying to do here with these things; however, they are like another type/flavor of a breaded chicken nugget with a chicken filling that was not really going anywhere. 3. Stopped here passing through Pendleton while traveling home. We were in a hotel room and this came up as an option in the area. My kid wanted Chinese so we ordered online. They called before I arrived to pick up to let me know they didn't have what I had ordered (presumably supply chain issues). I gave them a different option when I arrived and got it for the same price. It took them a little longer than the advertised 15 minutes to make it, but it was still good. We came in on a Tuesday evening and we're staying at the Wildhorse Casino about 6 miles east. The place is in town and looked like we'll established. There are a lot of menu items and combinations to choose from. Things started going sideways when the lady taking our order just said yea...after everything we said. We ordered the appetizer platter and a combo dinner with hot and sour soup. The first fail was the egg rolls. It looked like they double battered them like KFC and the inside was mush. The hot and sour soup tasted nothing like it should've. It was way too sweet. Inedible sweet. The mongolian beef was nothing like it should be...it was basically onions and beef. The won ton soup was decent...but weird...it had a bunch of stuff in it including dried BBQ pork slices on top. I've had a lot of Chinese in my days and this place was one of the worst I've had. Did I mention the Asian kids in the back have an attitude and throw your items on the table like you're a stray dog they don't want there? I'd go anywhere else but here...seriously. read more

This is my first time here since they changed owners. I came in on my lunch break. I was a little worried when it was completely empty at noon. But I wanted to give it a try. I was quickly greeted with friendly waitress. My order came out very quick and everything was fresh and crunchy the vegetables. Called in an order for Beef Cury and Chicken Chow Mein on 11/25/17 order was ready when I arrived and still hot when I got home. The beef cury was in a aluminum tray with a clear plastic lid and the chow mein was in a chinese take home container. I generally do not like beef cury or any cury dish but this one was different and very tasty, the wife liked it also. The Chow Mein the wife did not like, but I did, except I am not parcel to mushrooms and removed them. To her the veggies were just to crisp, but to me they were o.k. and the chow mein had good flavor. The owner was very nice. I orignally was going to call Zhen's Jade Garden, but after of about 20 minutes trying to get through to a person I quit and tried this new resturant and I am glad I did. read more

We stopped through here for dinner on our way from salt lake to portland. Susie was there when we arrived and held the door for all of us. We had a group of 7 and she seated us immediately. We got the appetizer platter and some extra orders of spring rolls and crab rangoons. The crab puffs were obviously homemade and so recently fried that i had to wait a few seconds to let them cool. They were the perfect crunchy creamy combination and went very well with the sesame dipping sauce they came with. The spring rolls were also fantastic, thick rolls stiffed with cabbage and meat with curry spices. We also got a round of egg flower soup and tea for the table. The tea was some of the best jasmine tea i've had and was perfect to bump up the caffeine levels to continue our drive. For dinner we got the sautéed broccoli, kung pow chicken, beef chow mein, Szechuan shrimp, salt pepper squid and rice for the table. I'm not a huge fan of kung pow chicken usually because it doesn't have many veggies, but this was amazing. In with the chicken there were peppers, onions, corn, mushrooms, and peanuts! The sauce was spicy and super flavorful. This was by far my favorite dish. The Szechuan shrimp was sweet and tangy and the shrimp were coated in a shell of breading that was miraculously still crunchy while also soaking up the sauce to make the perfect bite. The broccoli was the simplest dish, but even though it was just steamed broccoli it had a wonderful umami rich sauce that highlighted the perfectly cooked vegetable. The salt and pepper squid was perfectly fried and crispy and super tender. It also came with a selection of blackened peppers and onions that went really well with the squid bites. The beef chow mein had perfectly tender beef bites with onions peppers and bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were well cooked and yet nice and crunchy. I couldn't find any noodles in the dish but the bean sprouts did the same job and I think the dish was better without. So good. This restaurant, aside from the food, was really clean and well run. Susie was very nice, and when we had finished eating we got to talk to her a little about how she had just opened and how she had moved out here from portland. I will be back to pendleton in a few weeks for the round up, and you can bet 100% that you can find me at Susie's!!!! read more

Pretty good food in a pretty nice town. I am mostly vegan so can't vouch for anything other that the sautéed noodles and mixed vegetables - which were delicious.
