The waitstaff was excellent but the food was just alright. I get the feeling that they would try to fix it if you complained but we were hungry enough to eat it anyway. The tenderloins were tough and the clam strips were sort of .... My grand daughter enjoyed the fish and chips basket and dad said the tea was excellent. The people on the other side of the restaurant had the loudest, most unruly children I've heard while dining and we ate listening to them scream and bang their silverware on the tables. I probably wouldn't go back if I took the time to find a better restaurant, because the prices are around $20 a head and you can get good food for that. read more

Filling, delicious food, and a fun experience. We were visiting from out of town. Family friendly and they have paper and crayons at your table for drawing! Nostalgic to when I was a kid! I participated and drew the picture of the Boozy Peach Mimosa they were advertising. Their dining area is fairly large. We had a group of 6 and were able to get a table. I ordered the boozy peach mimosa and it came in a Gibraltar goblet style glass with a thick sweet peach juice. While it was not physically bubbly, it was not lacking the bubbly!! For food I got the steak and eggs. Came as over easy and medium cooked to my liking, the bread with thick and fluffy! Always stop here on the way to the coast. I was planning on getting the chicken fried steak. Instead went with the brunch buffet which included chicken fried steak for a few $ more. $25. Chicken fried steak in the buffet was not the same as the one on the menu I typically get but a cheap frozen patty of mystery meat. Other items consisted of what was obviously left over day before items made into casseroles. How can they charge this kind of $ for cheap store bought frozen crap and leftovers? read more

I should have taken a picture of our first full plate. We were passing through Pendleton on a road trip and were needing some breakfast. We stopped in to The Rooster and they offered us the Round Up Buffet or a menu. We figured we would try the buffet. It was great food! My husband and I love the French Toast Casserole. The homemade doughnuts were AMAZING. And the tatter tot casserole was delicious. We feel like we NEED to come back soon. One of my regulars, great food and service! The place is clean and the food tastes homemade!

I ordered the fried chicken but what I got tasted like it was boiled and upon closer inspection seemed undercooked. I only took one bite of it before pushing it away. There was no question that I was unhappy with it, as I patiently waited for my server to swing by so we could get it fixed. And I waited, and waited. She walked by my table several times without stopping and ignored me when I tried to signal her. Normally I'm a pretty patient guy but at this point I was getting heated so I decided to forget resolving it. I got up to head for the cashier to ask for a manager since she never swung by and that's when she suddenly came running saying she could take my payment like I was going to do a dine and dash. She never asked me how my food was, or mentioned that I didn't eat it. She just held out her hand for my credit card. So uncooked food and poor service. Not a winning combination. read more

Almost didn't stop due to some negative reviews, but options were few and we were hungry! This was a great choice! As we walked in, we noticed that Rooster's is a sizable restaurant that's clean, modern and without your standard barnyard/country decor that can make a place feel old and dirty. Menu is huge with a great variety of offerings. Both the hostess and our waitress, Nikole were happy and personable. Our dinners showed up very quickly and were delicious! (I am not going to dock a star because both entrées were very salty. But they were reeeally good! I love salt, but this even made my mouth burn a little. Please, don't tell my doctor! I'll just drink more water tonight! LOL!) If we ever find ourselves back in Pendleton, we'll look forward to exploring other things on the menu! read more

Felt like some breakfast and went to this place. I heard it was pretty good....so yeah let's find out. Walk inside and there's a lot of seating. We're greeted and walked to our table. We had a bunch of people and I guess they had a couple big groups....we waited at least 45 minutes for our food. Ordered the " Let Er Crow" on the menu and then just added and subtracted items to make it work. Strawberry Pancakes, Hash Browns, Bacon, Sausage. A Solid traditional breakfast. They give you a carafe of coffee, so there's no running out. The short stack of pancakes could feed a family of four. Ok maybe not four, but you'd have to be REALLY hungry to get through it. Good service, reasonable prices, paper and crayons for the kiddos, what's not to like? read more

I am sorry but there is nothing good about this restaurant. We went in on a Monday afternoon around 1:00. Getting seated was quick. Each table is covered in a sheet of paper and you are provided with crayons. Not my kind of place from the get go. Our server took her time to get to us which was fine as we were not anxious or in a hurry. Ordered a BLAT which was described as a BLT with FRESH avocado on Wheat Montana sourdough served with fries. Notice the word FRESH. and a Cob salad. My husband said the Cobb salad was standard. Nothing special with some brown wilted greens. Not too bad but not something you should be getting at a restaurant. My order of the BLAT was disgusting and I told the waitress so. The avocado was absolutely nowhere near FRESH. It was horribly smashed and completely brown. That is not FRESH. The lettuce was brown and had black wilted bits on it. I told her I was not eating that. Secondly the fries had these black specks on them. What is that? I asked her and she said it was pepper? Pepper on the fries? Nowhere does it say there is pepper on the fries. I believe it was old bits of food from the fryer. Told the waitress I was not eating those either. She asked if I wanted something else and I said no thanks. We paid, no charge for mine, and left. I ordered a chefs salad. The worst excuse for a chefs salad that I have ever had. A small amount of lettuce with some canned diced tomatoes, a little shredded cheese right from a package , a little diced ham right from a package, a small egg cut in half and some ugly discolored chicken turkey that should have been discarded days before. My wife had a prime rib dip sandwich... Nothing prime here. It should be called a dry and lifeless dip sandwich. We would never recommend this restaurant or come here again ourselves. read more

It was difficult finding the entrance to this place. While it fronted on the main road, one actually had to turn into a side street, then head down a slope while trying to avoid lots of potholes and ruts. The dining room is decorated in chicken/country style, rather cute, and each table has a huge sheet of paper and crayons so customers can draw while they wait for their food. We were there on a Monday night and surprised how fast our food was ready! My husband and I both ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast dinner (2 pieces of white chicken breast, baked potato, vegetable medley, butter and sour cream). They didn't skimp on the chicken breast serving size, and it was very tasty and moist. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and I liked being able to add the amount of butter I wanted. The waitress asked if we wanted the baked potato "loaded" and we said okay, but she should've mentioned there was an up-charge. We both wished later that we hadn't, not because of the extra cost, but simply the cheese had no flavor (we couldn't figure if it was extra mild cheddar or American cheese), the bacon stuck in it simply added texture with no smoky meat savoriness, but the fresh chive was welcome. It would have been better with simply sour cream and chive. It was a very filling meal and appropriately priced. read more

I usually eat at the Saddle when passing through but the joint closes early on Sundays so by chance I happened to find this place. It's a little too yuppified for me but the wait staff was great, the prices were fine and the meal was pretty decent. They got me in and out quickly which was much appreciated and I left with a full tummy. Mission accomplished. I don't know that Roosters will ever replace the Saddle as my go-to.... I really like them and have been eating there for years. But Roosters is perfectly fine too although it's more like a Dennys than an old school diner. Maybe a bit more up-scale than Dennys. Needed breakfast on the last day of our road trip. Rooster's is close to the KOA we were staying at. We got there early on a Sunday morning so there was no wait. Our waitress took our orders quickly and brought back hot coffee in a thermos. I prefer it this way because many times the coffee can be scorched or bitter. We ordered the Pot Roast Hash, and Granola French Toast with a side of crispy bacon. I now want to cook my French toast this way. The granola gave the French toast texture and great flavor. The bacon was just the way I like it. The Hash had plenty of meat and the potatoes were done perfectly. The hash itself needed a little more onions or some peppers since pot roast doesn't have the same flavors as corned beef. There was plenty on the plate. The over easy eggs were cooked to perfection, and the big fluffy biscuit was a nice compliment. I love the decor inside - Roosters of course, but also little barns around some of the booths. Our server Rena was absolutely fantastic. Easy going and just the right amount of love and energy. My son said they were the best eggs Benedict he's ever had. I shared the mushroom and spinach omelette, I was surprised by the flavor and fresh spinach. Hash browns were good. Lots of booths which I love. Cleaner inside than it seems from the outside first impression. When we got there my son was like, "Really, mom why here? I wanted a McDonalds drive through." After we got our food he was so happy and ate his plate clean. I had the boozy peachy mimosa which at first taste is a bit sweet for my taste but I feel so good right now!!!
