Super unimpressed with our food. Pancakes were raw in the middle!!! It's hard to be critical of restaurants these days, knowing how short staffed everyone is. But really - raw? We were so looking forward to amazing pancakes and eggs for breakfast after a big marathon the day before. Alas, it wasn't to be. We also didn't realize this was a chain until we got there, so it was a bit of a double disappointment. The food was good, and my grandmother wasn't very hungry, and they were more than happy to make her just a half a sandwich. Passing through on our way to Portland, we were looking for a place to eat lunch around Pendleton. We chose Roosters and found it to be comfortable if a little dark which wasn't a bad thing given the hot sun at the time. I don't recall our servers name but she made it clear at one point that her shift was over. That said, her service was certainly adequate. My wife ordered the halibut dinner and she really liked it. I had a taco salad and it tasted pretty good until I got to the meat. It wasn't hamburger as it should have been but rather stringy meat, like pot roast. So I wound up with a few balls of meat in my mouth and found them hard to chew up and get down. It also was not served in a tortilla shell as they commonly are but instead had a few large corn chips around the edges. If you like avocado as I do, expect to pony up some extra cash. The other deficit was the restroom. It just wasn't too clean and that always - or should - make one wonder about the rest of the facility. I wanted to score Roosters higher, but adding the wrong meat in the salad and a dirty bathroom dictate a mediocre score from me. Your mileage may vary, and I can recommend Roosters if you need a place to eat right then, but you might look around a bit first. read more

This is a popular place for local folks to gather with a hometown feel. It seems to be especially popular for seniors as they have many benefits through their club card and a wonderful serbios menu. The environment isn't rushed and they serve breakfast all day. I haven't tried much outside of the breakfast menu, but really enjoy the variety of options. My last visit;however, the eggs and potatoes were under season (if seasoned at all) and the chicken fried steak was extremely salty. I do always enjoy the freezer jam and marble rye bread that seems to be made locally. read more

Understanding customers that I do, hoping they come back and give it another try is like asking your girlfriend for another chance...Roosters, you didn't care about us then, you really don't care about us now. When we go to Pendleton area we will visit the Casino and their fine restaurants or other local ones around Pendleton but not Roosters. I hope in the future they take care of their unhappy customers as based on their care of us PLUS the owner not giving us incentive to take them back...there are many more broken hearts from customers that will happen again! read more

A tradition in Pendleton, a family sit down restaurant, known for chicken noodle soup, paper covered tables that everyone colors, and wonderful service. A few specialities that I would recommend for breakfast are the potroast hash and/or the chicken fried steak. Delicious! For lunch and dinner I recommend chicken strips - home made fresh. Also, the chicken fried steak dinner is wonderful. If you have children and they order from the kids' menu, they get to make a trip to the chicken coop for an ice cream bar! First let me get the positives out of the way ... the food is fairly good, the food came out pretty quick after ordering, and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant was clean, the servers were friendly and more importantly, there was plenty of parking when we visited. Now for the one "bump in the road" ... we were seated and then it seemed like we were being ignored for over 10 minutes. No menu, no drinks, etc. The booths around us were being served, but not us. Just about time I decided to get up and walk out, I noticed two servers were having a somewhat heated "discussion." It seemed that one server was not happy ... I suspect she was being told that we were in her station. Anyway, right after that we got service (without an apology), but it turned out the service we got was good. I guessing there is a communication or assignment issue among the staff given other reviews similar experience mentioned here. Bottom line, I'd eat here again, and I'll have to be a little more assertive if this happens again. read more

This was possibly the worst breakfast I have ever had. The hash browns tasted of cheap grease. The biscuit was hard and dry. Whatever the "spread" was, it sure never saw any butter, as it was white and tasted like Crisco. My scrambled eggs were hard outside and undone in the middle. This is not a low priced establishment. They have some standards worth returning for, some entrees are hit and miss. Hubby tried a Burger Dip - literally just a really dry hamburger in grilled bread w/au jus. Dry being operative word, no value there. My Meatloaf Patty Melt with onion rings was much nicer and pleasantly moist and very filling. Packed up half for later. Went for Friday clam chowder - too thin, more like a soup than chowder. Hubby wasn't fond of peppery taste from bacon, I probably would've been. Been traveling for 2 weeks. Saw a billboard for Rooster's and we decided to try it Sunday afternoon. The lot was packed. Parked our Airstream at the lot next door and walked over. So worth it! And wow - what a performance! Great service - no waiting at the time I arrived which was about 11:30 local - and my plate of food - monstrous! Now - I am not a small guy but to say I got full is an understatement! The food was fresh - and nothing appeared to be "kit" type food. The plate was well presented, well-proportioned and the service friendly and efficient. If you like breakfast, which is my go to comfort food, this is a place you need to try.
